    • News Bits For Your Monday: Bad Boys 3, Bobby Brown, SNL, Lena Horne RIP, Drake & Janelle Monae

Written by The IPS in Blogs on May 10, 10

There may be a Bad Boys 3 happening in the very near future, ON TOP of Men In Black 3 being confirmed! [Coming Soon]

We live in a world where Bobby Brown is getting engaged and where Chilli can’t get a man. Wow. [People]

Betty White was HILARIOUS on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend. Seriously. I cannot stop laughing at “Wizard of Ass”. Check the clip above! Jay-Z was the musical host, but I wasn’t especially moved by any of his performances. Though his drummer Tony Royster, Jr. is one of my personal favorites.

RIP Lena Horne, one of the pioneering Black actresses in her own right and also a fantastic and emotionally captivating singer. Most folks of the younger generation will remember her as Glenda the Good Witch from “The Wiz”, which also featured Michael Jackson :( [New York Times]

Don’t forget ya’ll — Drake can ACT too! Looking for the right material though…. [MTV News]

Listen to snippets from Janelle Monae’s The ArchAndroid, which is due out May 18th. Seems very theatrical, dark yet light and operatic. I think the singles may have been a bit misleading…but still great music nonetheless.

“Can You Sing Like A Robot”? Kanye + Cleveland Can!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on May 3, 10

Yo, I’ve watched “The Cleveland Show” one time when it first came out, but I’ve yet to watch it again. However, Kanye West dropped in for a guest appearance and he got into a rap battle with Cleveland, Jr. ROFL @ these fools rapping in KLINGON. Yes, I’m a nerd. One of my favorite shows ever is “Star Trek: The Next Generation”. Don’t judge me. It’s a long story.

Did you see the whole episode? Do you watch this show? “The Boondocks” also premiered again last night! Got that on the Tivo…

Gabourey Sidibe’s SNL Appearance Was Upstaged By Steve Harvey!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 26, 10

Yo, if you didn’t get the chance to watch Saturday Night Live this weekend, which was hosted by Gabourey Sidibe, you really didn’t miss out on TOO much. However, the best skit hands down was this “Steve Harvey Hosts ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’”! Keenan Thompson as Steve Harvey was AMAZING.

LOL @ “The Last of the Moesha’s” and him trying to pronounce all them Icelandic words was just TOO funny.

She also was in another skit that had me laughing where she was screaming “NOW GIT!”

Overall, Gabby did a great job! Her Valley Girl voice coming out of that body never ceases to amaze me. She flubbed up a couple of times, but it was fine because clearly she was having fun! I think the sketches they wrote this ep. were kinda lame, and she just had to go with it LOL. Her opening was great but I hated that “Cherry Battle” skit!

These Terry Crews Old Spice Commercials Are Giving Me Fits (And Headaches)!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 7, 10

I fear for Terry Crews’ acting career, dude will always be typecast like this exact character, but hey, he has a huge family and must be getting to the monies!

But these commercials!? These are a whole other level of being ALL THE WAY TERNT UP! I mean, he’s like a negro Power Ranger w/o the costume, and all that YELLING HAHAHAHA. Who wrote the dialogue, Mo’Nique!?

Check out the rest of the commercials after the jump, too funny! Happy Hump Day!

Diddy Has A Grill. A Lower One At That. WHY COME!?

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 6, 10

Diddy has too much money and has been around too long to resort to this.

This is the commercial that “Diddy-Dirty Money” (why the dash now, is that supposed to separate him from this train wreck just in case…) shot for the Final Four for NCAA basketball.

I really really am sticking to my guns on this one thing — I think Dawn should be the frontperson for this “experiment”, Diddy should twiddle his thumbs and gnash his teeth/grill, and Kaleena should…I don’t know, ain’t she a songwriter? Ghost vocals? Stylists? Weed carrier? Something.

“Hello, Good Morning” does kinda knock though — again, no vox would be better and if any, just Dawn’s. My $.02.

Amber Riley Stunts On Keri Hilson via the National Anthem At White House

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 5, 10

Now, I’m posting this because of Keri Hilson’s fail the other day, plus them sending out a ghetto press release talking about she redeemed herself (and of course because I love “Glee”!)

      Keri, BYE!

Amber Riley, star of the Fox show “Glee”, spent Easter at the White House with President Obama and the family, and got to sing the National Anthem. And hug Obama. And nailed it. Sure, the whole performance isn’t in this clip, but really, do you even need to question it!? Those chops can’t be beat.

She was so NERVOUS, ya’ll see her trying to run off? LOL Obama was like, “Wait!” Michelle was like “Come back!” HAHAHA, gon’ ahead. That’s a BIG deal ya’ll. Applaud her and the cast of “Glee”, they are becoming MAJOR stars! I can’t wait for the album…

You Can Have The “Window Seat”, Just Give Wanda Sykes The “Middle Seat”

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 5, 10

Wanda Sykes is a cot-dang fool for her “Window Seat” parody. She had Erykah Badu on the show this past weekend and she showed E. Badu her version of her song, and let me tell you, the vocals alone are enough to make you laugh!

But when she fell? Umm, I don’t know if she was acting really well or what, but that mess had me DYING.

Even Erykah was like, “You funny!”

Did the “blood” spilled out say “Owi”, as in “owwwweeeee” like kids say when they hurt themselves? I can’t!!

Ya’ll know that Erykah was indeed charged this weekend? And I saw on Twitter that Rev. Jamal Bryant said he would pay the fine. Allllrighty then!

Gabby Sidibe To Host Saturday Night Live!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 2, 10

The “Precious” star has broken out that character into more roles as she prepares for a star turn in a Showtime series “The Big C,” which is about a woman struggling with cancer and trying to find humor in the ordeal. She’s also in a new indie movie called “Yelling to the Sky” which hits later this year.

I never imagined however that she’d be on Saturday Night Live! My goal is to host Saturday Night Live before I die — true story. So I am so glad a sister is going to get a turn! Especially one who has had such an overwhelming and successful year! And all this from a girl who has no acting experience. Tell me God isn’t amazing!

I know Kenan Thompson is glad because they work him hard as a black woman LOL. Maybe now he can finally wear some pants instead of a push-up bra. Poor dude.

Gabourey Sidibe’s episode will air on April 24th and will feature the music group MGMT. Don’t know who MGMT is? Check out their latest video for their single “Flash Delirium” after the jump!

HBO Is About To Show Us “How To Make It In America”

Written by YTMatt in Blogs on Feb 8, 10

From executive producers Julian Farino (Entourage), Mark Wahlberg (sans the funky bunch), Rob Weiss (Entourage), Stephen Levinson (Entourage, In Treatment) and Ian Edelman comes the new HBO comedy “How to Make It in America”. Also directed by Farino, the show follows Ben (Bryan Greenberg) and Cam (Victor Rasuk), two mid-20s would-be entreprenures who are hustling their way to the top in New York City. Luis Guzmán plays Cam’s ex-con cousin, Kid Cudi, who plays Cam and Ben’s partying friend Domingo, Lake Bell, Ben’s ex, Martha Plimpton as Bell’s boss, Shannyn Sossamon and Eddie Kaye Thomas round out the ensemble cast.
