    • Trey Songz Is Screaming (Literally) “Bottoms Up” With Some Gibberish From Nicki Minaj

Written by The IPS in New Music & Reviews on Jul 14, 10

Trey Songz – “Bottoms Up” [Download]

Are we being punked? Is this a joke?

After making somewhat decent songs like “Your Side of the Bed” and “Black Roses” on his last album (let’s just ignore “Say Ahh” for now), Trey Songz is not only going to put out a new album, but this is the supposed first single from it. It already has a title too. Passion, Pain & Pleasure.

The only passion I have is to make everyone see that this dude cannot sing!
The pain that I get from his continued straining and Nicki Minaj’s continuous lines of NOTHINGNESS that people PAY her for are akin to a c-section w/ no anesthesia.
The pleasure I get from CRANKING THAT DELETE button is much like the neighbors get after they get Trey evicted cause they know his name — from his vocal practices each morning.

But, you know, if this is what ya’ll want to hear, they are going to give it to you. They are determined to strike while the iron is hot and the abs are tight. *shrugs*

We won’t even go there with the title “Bottoms Up” HAHA, You thought it, I wrote it.

I’m Trying To Get Behind Christina But I Can’t And This Is Why…

Written by The IPS in Blogs on May 7, 10

Christina Aguilera did her new song on Oprah and so of course, I’m sure she will get a huge bump and boost along the way (though the song has been getting some radio play anyway).

“Not Myself Tonight”, as “different” as Christina may think it is, is really not THAT different. But I can see that the one that hasn’t changed is her penchant for oversinging and hollering. Trying to do all that melisma over a dance beat? Ma’am, please take that white-girl power squall and go sing a ballad!

She’s going to have to adapt her voice with the quickness for the stripped down nature of dance/electro-esque vocals, because by the end of this performance, she was a screeching, hollering and slightly flat mess! I love you but no!

      T.I. To World: “I’m Back”.

Written by The IPS in Videos on Apr 26, 10

I don’t know what to say. I don’t think I have anything to say.

The video and the song both give me a headache and I, for the most part, think this is a very anti-climactic return to the stage so to speak.

T.I. had hit such a peak before he went in that if this is the best that he can do, along with some of the other verses that he’s featured lately with other artists, then I’m going to need him and Shyne to please gather their things and get the heck offa my radio. Thanks!

Keri Hilson Will Be Appearing On “Don’t Forget The Lyrics” Soon!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 1, 10

      OK that’s mean HAHAHA.

Besides them few words and a couple of pitch problems, Keri Hilson sounded OK when the sung the National Anthem at the Hawks Vs. Lakers game last night in ATL. There were a lot of of her celeb friends in the audience, but you know no one told her how they REALLY felt or how she REALLY sounded. LOL!

That’s what Tha Feedback is for!

She is looking great these days though…phew.

Usher Relies On Tricks From The 90′s To Prove He’s Still Got It

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 27, 10

You know I hate these “trailers” and “sneak peeks”. Seriously, it’s like your video is not a worldwide event. We don’t care for the most part. We will watch it once and most likely forget about you after that!

Usher is no exception to the rule. For an artist who once had “superstar” status, his star has greatly dimmed over the past couple of years. Call it age, lack of originality in music, personal life drama, whatever — basically, the focus has shifted from his music to him.

This trailer for his new single “Daddy’s Home” seems like a lame & desperate attempt to put Usher back on “sex symbol” status, with him resorting to the old trick of showing his abs. Abs which now have kids, drama, crazy exes, bills and a mediocre material behind the voice that weakly is still trying ton convince us that he’s the man. Do better!

Usher is starting to seemingly be a bit of a legend in his own mind, and if this newest album of his doesn’t show growth, maturity and ground-breaking-forward-thinking-yet-current music and lyrical depth, then he will go the way of the DoDo Bird. Especially with whipper-snappers like Trey Songz with better abs and less drama knocking at his front door…

Jagged Edge Teetering On The Edge of Relevance…

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 21, 10

Jagged Edge have a new song that I personally, don’t really care about, though the way Mo’Nique introduces them, you’d think they were the next coming of The Jackson 5 and that their song had SHOT to the top of the charts — I cannot with her extra introductions LOL.

Currently #51 on the Top Hip-Hop & R&B Songs chart, “Tip of My Tongue” is an underwhelming return to the music biz for the group. They even deliver the “Where The Party At” performance with such non-energy that I got bored quickly. The song also features Gucci Mane and Trina, who I guess couldn’t be bothered to come (Gucci’s in jail).

Does anyone still really check for JE? They need to convince us that they aren’t trying to coast by on their past hits. I think years of releasing fluff and run-of-the-mill R&B chart fodder has eroded at their once decent sized fan base. We’re still singing “Meet Me At The Altar”, don’t lie.

Album Cover: Jaheim’s Another Round Cover + New Song

Written by The IPS in Blogs,New Music & Reviews on Jan 6, 10

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Jaheim – “Another Round” [Listen + Download]

Jaheim is taking another stab at making music that he can’t perform live with the February 9th release of his latest album Another Round.

The previously released single “Ain’t Leaving Without You” didn’t go very far, so expect for it to be demoted to “buzz single” and a new single to drop shortly I bet. And if not, they need to get on that immediately LOL. The album title cut leaked as well, but it’s really nothing to write home about either. Jaheim can do better and has done better, but this song vocally is a little bit all over the place.

The material is tired. Jaheim really shines with mid-tempo ballads. I can’t find much info about the album, but this song was produced by The Clutch. I think he should have passed on this, gave it to Trey Songz to sing w/ his warble-tone and turned in something more grown, sexy and in his range.

His voice sounds…unsure. This record sounds unfinished maybe, not sure. What ya’ll think? Are you a Jaheim fan?

Raz B Is Still Making Music? Really? Oh, OK.

Written by The IPS in Videos on Dec 8, 09

Yo, umm…Raz B is still making music? Or did he ever really quit? In any case, it’s vastly underwhelming and I hope homie keeps up with the acting LOL.

This song and video sound like Marques Houston throwaways, and he just can’t seem to get out of that camp’s mindset. Even this video looks like the 50-11 videos in a way that Marques just put out for his latest album that dropped a couple of months ago.

And what’s up with the random Little Red Riding Hood motif? That glove has GOT to go LOL.

Music Video: Rihanna – “Wait Your Turn (The Wait Is Ova)”

Written by The IPS in Videos on Nov 3, 09

No shade to Rihanna, she been through a lot this past year but…

      THAT’S IT!?

Boo! Wamp! Please pass the mic!

When it started off all I could think was “Pirates of the Barbados Isles”. LOL wassup with the eye patch?

I could infer maybe a whole bunch of stuff about this video (the aforementioned eyepatch, straddling the angel, strutting in a church, walking across a bridge, etc.) but I’m just gonna parlay all that into saying that this video is boring, enough with the glamour shots, this song has no melody, you can’t dance to it, wamp wamp womp womp womp.

Rihanna, you gonna have to come a lot harder than this! At least Chris has Lil’ Wayne and transformers and Tyrese and…and…

Rihanna’s name might be a brand but as an individual and a singer, that’s not enough to carry this song nor video.

      That’s my $.02, what’s yours?

Rihanna overload this week I’m sure…I apologize in advance….

Live Performances: Kristinia DeBarge Says “Goodbye”

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jul 28, 09

WHOA. Please just start paying attention at about the 0:35 second mark. Homegirl straight up loses the key — don’t know what happened!

Actually, each time she gets to that pre-hook it kind of falls apart. However, beneath these missteps you can still tell the girl has a decent voice. She starts belting and then you really can hear it.

Let’s chalk it up to nerves, shall we? It’s also funny to see that she went to the Christina Aguilera School of Singing LOL, but we won’t go there.

Where is Chico ‘nem to give her some tips on her live performances? LOL. She’s a cutie and she definitely looks like her namesakes.
