Bilal is putting out new music! He’s released a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Too High” as the first taste of his The Retrospection mixtape. I’ve always been a fan of Bilal — his quirky ear for music and singularly original talent is always welcome in such a crowded field of homogenous music stars. The mixtape drops on December 5th on his Facebook page apparently. In typical Bilal fashion, he makes this song his own — jazzes it up and smooths it out, with plenty of falsetto ad-libs to satiate your palette for good singing. Let me know what you think!
Jade Novah (@JadeNovah)is quickly making a mark, thanks to her cover of Rihanna’s “Diamonds”. The well produced cover & video have over 9 MILLION VIEWS. Jade, no stranger to covers, has kept the momentum going. Her and her producer Mr. Devinaire have done it again with a pretty imaginative, original and yet true to the source cover of Ke$ha’s “Die Young”. Jade always manages to turn the songs I don’t like into songs I DO like — I love her version of “Call Me Maybe”! The quality and sheer music perfection that is her covers is pretty awesome though, and she doesn’t disappoint this go round either.

This is one sanging yt man. Seriously. I’ve been a fan of his covers ever since he did this bomb version of Prince’s “If I Was Your Girlfriend”, and from time to time, I check in on Mr. Daniel de Bourg to see what he’s cooked up. Last week, he put out a cover of Miguel’s “Do You…”, which is one of the songs I really liked on his last album. Daniel doesn’t really do too much in the way of altering it, but he still sounds pretty dope singing it (which has never been a problem). It always trips me out to hear that voice come from that man, you know? Do you think he should have left this one alone?
