    • Sade Redefines The Term “Babyfather” For The Better

Written by The IPS in Videos on May 4, 10

I do like this song a lot. Sade (the singer and the band) make great, great music. I was a little touched as I sat and watched this video.

However, it was a little weird seeing sexy Sade do housework things, well, sexily LOL. It reminded me slightly of the way that Mariah Carey used to flop around, like in the “Lover Boy” video. Just, go watch it and then watch this video, you’ll what I mean.

Other than that, Solider of Love is in stores now, and it’s definitely worth it if you are a Sade fan.

Covers: Sade Must Have Given Herself The “Kiss of Life”

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Mar 2, 10

      Flawless victory.

Someone page Rihanna and tell her this is how you do it! Longevity! Quality vs. Quantity. I could go on and on.

Sade’s latest album Soldier of Love is still sitting pretty on the charts for the 2nd week in a row I believe, and has already been certified gold with sales of over 500K. Ole girl is 51!

I am still on Soldier of Love tough but I got to admit, I CANNOT listen to it while I am studying. I immediately fall asleep LOL.

Sade, Sade, Sade & More Sade — Live Performance Round Up

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Feb 10, 10

I’m just gonna start this post by saying I love Sade’s music but these live performances pretty much all soured when she got to the “I am love’s soldier” pre-hook part. How you go from singing tentor (yes, tenor w/ a t) to blaring out them notes then back down to a falsetto whisper? Recipe for disaster LOL!

These performances kind of broke my heart, but I will STILL bump my CD. “Yup ya know dis” <– Rihanna voice.

See her “Today Show” performance above (which was the worst of the three), followed by the 106 & Park Ranger performance and then capped off by her David Letterman performance. Those cracks on that SAME section all 3 performances just made me log off, but her feeling the music was a little funny too LOL.

Sade Matures & Yet Retains Their Signature Sound On Their Latest Project

Written by The IPS in New Music & Reviews on Feb 9, 10

      Sade – Soldier of Love
      4.5 stars out of 5

Sade, which is short for they-who-take-their-sweet-time, has finally blessed us with a new album, Soldier of Love. The band, which is fronted by the picturesque vocalist Sade Adu, releases their 6th album a full 10 years after their last international smash Lover’s Rock. Sade takes a more uptempo, rhythmic and fast paced (for them) approach to the views of love and the constant struggle and pull that are the emotions and feelings in any relationship, laying bare thoughts and observations over an occiasional uptempo and midtempo musical backdrop. True fans will not be disappointed, and new fans will like what they hear.

      Sade – “Skin” [Download]

Oh JOY at new Sade coming. I’m sorry, this song just chilled me the hell out. I love it. Soldier of Love coming next month. Please believe iTunes WILL be getting my money. How she is not giving classes on how to stay relevant in the music biz is beyond me. Staying.Power.Game.Proper.

New but true to who she is musically. This song feels like a warm blanket on a cold day wrapped around. Nice, warm and…familiar. See what time away will do for you!? And yes, I put the “Soldier of Love” video again. Just because. It’s my blog!

      Collie Buddz – “Phonecall” [Download]

Collie Buddz is an artist most folks haven’t heard about, but he’s a reggae/dancehall artist that had a medium hit with the joint “Come Around” in 2007 (which I loved as well). He hasn’t been around in a minute, but he’s finally got some new material. This is it.

I’ve been bumping this song since I heard. Collie’s music just goes over easy to me. And, K-Salaam and Beatnick produced this new joint for him, and I’m loving it. Check it out and let me know what you think. I don’t listen to much reggae, so yeah, excuse me if I don’t know what I’m really talking about reggae music heads LOL.

Sade Is A (Sparkly) Cowgirl In The “Solider of Love” Clip

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jan 10, 10

Sade’s “Soldier of Love” video is here!!

Sade’s a polarizing artist. Either you like her you don’t. It’s always such a big to do when a Sade album cycle rolls around because they are infrequent. She doesn’t disappoint with this video for “Soldier of Love” either.

I think the video is a Sade video. The visuals are interpretations of her lyrics as she visualized them. “Solider of Love” is a bit obvious with the dance/drill team working it out. The desert shots/wild wild west shots are kind of obvious. I loved her in the Bootsy Collins sparkled cowgirl getup and the big hair!

But, being a soldier in love is a battle and she shows that I think. Again, either you like it, or you don’t! I think love can be a desolate thing like the desert if you fall out of it, and it’s always a constant struggle to keep your emotions under wraps. Cut throat when love goes wrong. “Soldier of Love”, POW!

Solider of Love the album drops February 9th. I look forward to that. *repeats video*

      Sade’s Sizzle Reel + Tracklist

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Dec 30, 09

Remember Whitney Houston’s sizzle reel that came out earlier this year? Well Sade’s is a little more subtle and a bit more artistic but nontheless, I am still excited about Soldier of Love dropping February next year. Watching this reel made me want to go pull out all my Sade CD’s!

Tracklist + a poll about your favorite Sade album after the jump!

Keep Fighting With The Help of Sade’s “Soldier of Love” In The Background

Sade – “Soldier of Love” [Download + Listen]

Totally not what I was expecting from the “Queen of Soft Soul,” Sade. This song is uptempo, rocking (for Sade), with lots of deep vocals, guitar and other rock/electric flourishes. But I like it! I listened to it once, and immediately wanted to listen to it again. And again. And again.

Sade’s new album Soldier of Love drops Valentine’s Day, 2010. This is the first cut and it definitely has me wanting to hear more of what she’s been working on over the past 10 years.

      Thoughts?

Sade’s Coming In Time For Valentine’s Day 2010 With “Soldier of Love”

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Nov 25, 09

OH YES, I’m excited. Some folks can’t stand Sade, but I am not one of them LOL. Her new album has been penciled in for February 8th and it’s currently titled Solider of Love. You can also pre-order it right now on Amazon.

Oh, and while you’re over there Amazon, why don’t you get Rihanna’s new album for $.99. Yep, you read that right.

It just baffles me how someone like Rihanna can put out 50-11 albums and still hae to resort to gimmickery and tomfoolery. Sade? Sista drops an album every 10 years ROFL, and still slays. Not saying that people should wait that long, but clearly, it’s quality over quantity in my book — and that also equals LONGEVITY. 2 albums every year = burn out, in more ways than one…
