    • Toni Braxton’s Looks Steal The Show On “So Yesterday” Clip

Written by The IPS in Videos on Nov 20, 09

Toni Braxton’s latest single “So Yesterday” finally has a video clip for it. I feel like I’ve heard NOTHING about this single anywhere. Trey Songz’ current 60-watt star power wattage doesn’t bring anything to this song OR video clip in my opinion, and really, his presence is an unnecessary addition to appeal to ___________.

What really took center stage is not Toni’s singing or this mediocre song — in this clip, it’s all about the wigs. Short ones, black ones, long ones, red ones. And Toni frolicking in her panty draws. And in a catsuit thingy. And…

What is this song about? Are those Lakers? Brooke Hogan is the love interest!? I can’t even feign interest really. I really wish she would have chosen something with more of a hit potential instead of this syrupy mid-tempo ballad with Trey Songz who really brings nothing vocally to the table. They almost sound the same…he just has more vibrato that sticks out terribly on this song.

I want Toni to make it, I promise I do. But….does she want to?

It’s The God In Bushwick Bill (No Mary Mary)

Written by The IPS in Videos on Nov 18, 09

ROFL you know, I got nothing. I’m glad that he’s found Christ and all…but…well…umm…errr…

      Amen!

His debut gospel album Testimony of Redemption is out now…I’m just looking forward to his “Lift Every Voice” segment, since all they do is seem to interview a lot of rappers these days…

Sweet Minty Jesus, I don’t know if I should be laughing but I can’t help it. Everyone got a testimony though!

Alicia Keys Paints The World Purple In “Sleeping With A Broken Heart”

Written by The IPS in Videos on Nov 16, 09

Alicia Keys is just a vision of purple love what with her sexy hair, makeup, spandex leggings and…

      Flying?

      Wait…

Yes, I am pretty sure Alicia is a superhero. And in this clip for “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart”, she is a superhero in love but unable to touch her love and be with him. Why? Who knows. All I know that this is like Will Smith’s movie “Hancock” and I think they could have done better with it.

She tries to touch dude’s face and he looks like 50 Cent’s album cover…really? HAHAHA!

Alicia looks great, but I was really hoping the video for this song salvaged the song for me and it doesn’t. I’m still gonna listen to her album one good time when it drops though. Hopefully the singles aren’t indicative of the whole project.

Da Brat To Host “America’s Felons Got Talent”?

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Sep 22, 09

LOL, is she channeling the spirits of Sinbad, Simon Cowell and The Sandman in the clank? What does the winner win? Free time on the yard all by themselves? A retractable shank? A signed copy of Da Brat’s “That’s What I’m Lookin’ For” single, with a picture of Tyrese and/or Da BRat baby-oiled up?

Da Brat (Shawntae Harris) is serving her three year sentence at Arrendale Federal Prison in Alto, Georgia. According to officials, the rapper was able to secure approval to host an event she’s coined “Showtime at Alto.”While following the model of the legendary Apollo, Brat colleague and friend DJ Nabs will handle music duties. Da Brat brainstormed the showcase as an outlet for inmates to reveal their talents and hopefully cultivate them as a creative outlet during their sentences. Furthermore, she hopes those with lighter sentences may consider pursuing their talents further upon release.

If successful, Brat plans to push for prison authorities to make the showcase an annual event. (Source)

I’m pressing up “Free Da Brat!” t-shirts now! Who wants one?

You know what I just was just thinking about Da Brat though, because there’s a song on Mariah’s new album called “Up Out of My Face” that has this “reprise” that is done by a marching band. It sounds to me like Da Brat would have been perfect for that joint on a remix or something.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Kelis Must Have Been A Prophet…LaToya Jackson Has Come!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Sep 16, 09

LaToya Jackson is still out making money for Michael…or his charities…and…herself.

However, this time, I couldn’t resist! Is her milkshake bringing all the boys to the yard? Or just “the kids”?!

And I’m sorry, did she wash her hands? Does she have a food handler’s card? THIS Ms. Jackson IS probably nasty and I don’t want nothing to be consumed orally by me that she has been involved in. HA!

PLUS, “her” milkshake really just sounds nasty as hell, honestly. Raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, vanilla ice cream, Skittles, caramel, whipped cream, mixed nuts and chocolate. Ugh! Please tell her to beat it! The church is supposed to be in MOURNING! Not milkshaking!

I Pity The Fool…In This Picture!

Look at Mr. T looking like somebody’s drunk uncle! ROFL at least tie your shoes! I pity the fool that can’t match!

He showed up at the red carpet for the “Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs” premiere in Los Angeles this past weekend. Will someone please page Shady Acres because I think one of the inmates escaped. Not a good look.

“VH1 Divas” Is Returning…With Few Divas. And Some “Singers”.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Sep 9, 09

      Photo from Rolling Stone

Sooo you mean to tell me that MILEY CYRUS is a diva, but Toni Braxton is PRESENTING!?

What in sam hell…I don’t think I’m going to watch this. There are so many things wrong with this lineup…

H1 Divas added a Dreamgirl and a trio of rockers to their lineup today as the network announced that Jennifer Hudson, Sheryl Crow, Cyndi Lauper and Melissa Etheridge will all perform at the September 17th concert at Brooklyn, New York’s Academy of Music. Martina McBride will also perform on the special. The quintet joins a previously announced roster of lady vocal talent: Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Jordin Sparks and Adele. As Rolling Stone previously reported, former American Idoljudge Paula Abdul will host the festivities, which will be broadcast live on September 17th on VH1.

In addition to the performers, VH1 also revealed that the evening’s presenters will include The Hills alums Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port, My Life on the D-List host Kathy Griffin, fellow diva Toni Braxton, the cast of the Fame remake and actor Ryan Kwanten, who plays Jason Stackhouse on HBO’s True Blood. (Source)

Half of these women just “relatively” getting their start…if “divas” = woman singers, ok. Fine. Sure.

But MILEY CYRUS? She’s neither a diva nor a singer. Girl has some good songs, but Toni better be shilling a new album around then to justify this mockery of her career. I can’t. Seriously! And Cyndi Lauper has been on the show more than any other diva ever.

Ugh, I will probably still watch it though. You know I am partial to some women singing. BUT STILL. COME ON! Oh the injustice. How dreadful (c) Dwight Eubanks.

Omarosa Turns Her “B*tch” Card In For A Bible!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Aug 14, 09

This recession is making EVERYONE take a 2nd job out in order to keep their heads afloat. Enter Omarosa!

The notorious reality TV “star” has apparently been unable to book another negro-fest on television has decided to follow Jesus and let that little light of hers shine! Well Praise the Lord and pass the Hennesey!

I just hope Juanita Bynum isn’t one of her teachers. Or Pastor Kearney! I don’t want to see her cranking that Bynum on a “Celebrity Big Brother 2012″ or selling prayer cloths and her book on TBN with CeCe Winans either! Maybe the God in her will allow Mary Mary to perform at the commencement LOL!

Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, best known for her diva antics on NBC’s hit The Apprentice, is entering an Ohio seminary.

According to the Associated Press, she is slated to begin her ministry studies at United Theological Seminary in Dayton on Monday.

She will spend about two years pursuing a doctor of ministry degree, says Ivan Hicks, the school’s associate dean for African-American studies.

“She has expressed a calling in her life and it is our opportunity to provide leadership and guidance as she makes a transformation,” Hicks says. “We’re excited about her coming to school at UTS.”

He adds that she “has a heart for ministry” after doing work on behalf of the homeless and the poor in Haiti.

Omarosa’s feisty reputation will actually help her as a minister, says Hicks.

“Some of the good things and bad things we’ve done in our lives help us to actually relate and to be more widely accepted as a minister,” he says. (Source)

Well alrighty then. Keep God first! *passes out* You know she’ll be shooting footage for a new show on TVOne or the Gospel Music Channel…

Do You Care That Drake “Stays Strapped”?

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jul 8, 09

Ever since one of ya’ll said that Drake looks like a St. Bernard dog, my perception has been skewed ROFL!

My thoughts were also tainted when I thought that he resembled Snuffaluffagus from Sesame Street.

In any case, dude has some redeeming to do after the very dismal opinions of his BET performance and that confusing-yet-visually-titillating (pun intended!) video that was “Best I Ever Had”.

Being a spokesperson for your boss’ (Lil’ Wayne) condom line (which he obviously doesn’t use him dang self) means you lost in my book. Dude could have been an independent beast and instead is 3-4 deep in the label system…

Where the groupies at to call him out!? Do women still do that!? LOL.
