    • Kat Deluna Is Making It Way Too Easy To Consider Her Irrelevant; Remakes “California Gurls”…

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jul 12, 10

ROFL this is so terrible I HAVE NO WORDS.

Kat Deluna remakes Katy Perry’s hit “California Gurls” and calls it “New York City Gurls”. And if Snoop’s rap wasn’t asinine enough, this dude Onassis takes it to another level of terribleness with his bars. Kat Deluna sounds like she is choking on a pitch whistle while falling off a treadmill or something…what in the WORLD.

Kat…you betta “Whine Up” into a waitressing job at a local bodega near you, cause this ain’t it…

Music Monday: There’s Nothing “Childish” About Childish Gambino’s Wordplay…

Written by The IPS in New Music & Reviews on Jul 12, 10

OK, now I must confess, I wasn’t real familiar with this dude outside of seeing him on promos for NBC’s “Community”. But apparently Donald Glover is also a rapper. YES, he wants to be a rapper. His rap name? Childish Gambino.

This dude is HILARIOUS, but he actually REALLY goes in. This track “I Be On That” was one that I ran across last night and have been stuck on ever since. And dude has quotables! It’s crazy, because you are not sure if he’s really serious, but he is!

Listen to “I Be On That” above and then if you are so inclined, go check out his other joints from his album Culdesac here, where you can download the album, listen to more songs, and even see a video of him going in over Drake’s “Over” beat. I was really surprised.

Shouts to DC to BC and my Twitter friends for hitting me with this last night!

      Coverage: Shanice…Does A Cover Of Lady GaGa’s “Alejandro”……………

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jun 11, 10

Now I love Shanice, I do. Girl sings down! But this? LOL, and not with the whistle note thrown in for good measure! I just simply CAN’T.

It was all slow and churchified HAHA!! I wonder if Shanice has seen the music video for “Alejandro” cause, yeah.

Shanice however did share she was working on some new music and that makes me happy. Usually her cover videos are a lot more appropriate. It’s not that she sounds BAD per se, but just that this song SHOULD NOT have been redone. It feels like Alejandro died and she is singing at the wake. LOL.

Is Erykah Badu Emancipating Some New Music Today?!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 29, 10

Erykah Badu tweeted yesterday something about a leak — peep below:

      At 3:33 pm Tomorrow . Friday . The official leak … erykahbadu.com
about 9 hours ago from Tweetie

Besides the pirated “Jump Up In The Air (And Stay There)”, we’ve not heard much about Erykah’s new project. I’d heard that it was pushed back, but maybe we will be getting new music today? Eastern time? Pacific time? Martian time!?

Or maybe she having another baby and is gonna leak the name…who knows. LOL.

Edit: She just put up full audio of “Jump Up In The Air And Stay There” with Wayne…which we’d already (kind of) heard before. WAMP! Details about the album too: New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh will be available 3.30 2010 A.D. (((333))).

Is that Bilal on the background vocals? I do love this song, and it is the first of 10 versions of it — I can’t wait!

Lady GaGa Gets Down With Michael Bolton Too!

Written by The IPS in Blogs,New Music & Reviews on Jan 13, 10

Well, maybe not exactly a “duet”, but apparently a song that Lady GaGa wrote before she was “Lady GaGa” was recorded by Michael Bolton, who then left her vocals on the track. Well, if I was Michael Bolton, I would have done the same thing, shoot!

THE shock collaboration between Michael Bolton and Lady Gaga has been released. Murder My Heart was sent to Australian radio yesterday.

Gaga wrote the ballad before she had a hit single.

Bolton’s record company has cleverly left Gaga’s backing vocals on the track.

They are hoping the connection with the Poker Face hitmaker may help get the once-mulletted balladeer back on the radio.

“She reminded me of a young Madonna, with more exuberance and emphasis on the art rather than the marketing,” Bolton said of Gaga.

The song appears on Bolton’s album One World One Love, which was released in the US and Britain last year and will get a belated Australian release in March. (Source)

Sure, he had a terrible mullet (thanks Twitter!), but Michael Bolton had a strong voice. Truthfully, I don’t hate this song either. It’s kind of catchy in a weird Adult Contemporary meets Lady GaGa pop meets Timbaland/OneRepublic kind of sounding way. I just had to share it. Carry on with your day LOL!

Michael Bolton, for the youngins. That’s his biggest hit.

New T-Boz? Really? I Need More People LOL!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Dec 4, 09

I don’t even know what to think. Whenever I think of solo careers and T-Boz, I think of Mack 10 and her talking about touching herself.

Ole girl has had a lot of health problems for a while, but God is good. Bless her ministry with this one though LOL! She got a big name producer (Bangladesh) though….and Too Short and Yung Joc. LOL.

You know what? This should be Kelis’ new song instead of that “Acapella” foolishness. It kinds fits with T-Boz though, but she almost sounds like she’s channeling Chilli. I’m not sure how to size this one up…

Mashup: Miley Cyrus Meets Notorious B.I.G. = DEATH.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Oct 12, 09

ROFL omg, someone mashed up Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” with Biggie’s “Party & Bullshit” and I LOST my sh*t listening to this ROFL.

      No for real!

And what makes it even more annoying is her voice…lord. But it’s kinda hot at the same time?

Who finds the time to do these things? LOL! Ever since I heard her “sing” this song on the VH1 “Divas” I am just so befuddled as to why people love her. Oh well, clearly not her demographic.

Da Brat To Host “America’s Felons Got Talent”?

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Sep 22, 09

LOL, is she channeling the spirits of Sinbad, Simon Cowell and The Sandman in the clank? What does the winner win? Free time on the yard all by themselves? A retractable shank? A signed copy of Da Brat’s “That’s What I’m Lookin’ For” single, with a picture of Tyrese and/or Da BRat baby-oiled up?

Da Brat (Shawntae Harris) is serving her three year sentence at Arrendale Federal Prison in Alto, Georgia. According to officials, the rapper was able to secure approval to host an event she’s coined “Showtime at Alto.”While following the model of the legendary Apollo, Brat colleague and friend DJ Nabs will handle music duties. Da Brat brainstormed the showcase as an outlet for inmates to reveal their talents and hopefully cultivate them as a creative outlet during their sentences. Furthermore, she hopes those with lighter sentences may consider pursuing their talents further upon release.

If successful, Brat plans to push for prison authorities to make the showcase an annual event. (Source)

I’m pressing up “Free Da Brat!” t-shirts now! Who wants one?

You know what I just was just thinking about Da Brat though, because there’s a song on Mariah’s new album called “Up Out of My Face” that has this “reprise” that is done by a marching band. It sounds to me like Da Brat would have been perfect for that joint on a remix or something.

      Tyrese & R. Kelly Tell A Deep, Sad Story…

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Sep 17, 09

      Tyrese

Tyrese calls into his SayNow with his boy R. Kelly on the line and they share a deep story about deaths in the family and whatnot.

Luckily, Black Ty does NOT make an appearance, dropping 16 bars while he has a chance to shine LOL.

Make sure you listen to the end though, it’s some deep stuff. You never know what your favorite stars are going through.

Let’s hope these two can make some great music though!

Reh Dogg Needs To Man Up Already + Stop Crying.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Aug 5, 09

      Oh goodness, please Lord, WHY!?

I know the gifts are without repentance, but seriously, please, take this “gift” back!

I think Kang Lucifer has Reh Dogg on assignment to assassinate my soul. Sweet Minty Jesus be a pair of Beats by Dre earphones with some Kirk Franklin “Brighter Day” in the ears. This right here…

*goes into a corner and cries*

Now if T. Baby puts out a Swizz Beatz remix of “It’s So Cold In The D” I’m moving to Mars.
