    • Travis McCoy Gets Reflective On Charity Single “One At A Time” for World Aids Day

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Dec 1, 09

World AIDS Day 2009 is celebrated worldwide on December 1st. “One At A Time” benefits the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, which is in existence to “encourage, energize, and empower young people who are involved in HIV/AIDS awareness, education and prevention campaigns.” Travis McCoy is an ambassador and Kelly Rowland has also been involved with this foundation.

Earlier this year Travis McCoy, front man of Gym Class Heroes and Staying Alive Foundation Ambassador embarked on an epic, life-changing adventure. This adventure saw him travel to South Africa, Philippines and India, to meet with young people who run remarkable grass-roots HIV and AIDS awareness projects.

When Travis returned from his travels, the adventure was far from over… He had just a few weeks to write and record a brand new track inspired by his experiences.

Travis embraced the challenge; the track titled One At A Time is now ready and available to download via iTunes in the US and BandCamp globally. All proceeds from sales will benefit the Foundation, enabling us to fund many more vital HIV projects around the world.

Travis and the Foundation are now asking for your help. Travis has committed to raising $100k for the Foundation, but he can’t do it without you…. (Source)

You can get involved by purchasing the single for $0.99 on iTunes! Travis’ The Unbeaten Track documentary also airs today on MTV. Inform yourself about World AIDS Day 2009 here. Get tested and stay protected ya’ll. Shouts to all those who know someone affected by HIV/AIDS or who have lost someone from the disease. I have, so today I’m remembering my uncle. Tha Feedback definitely supports World AIDS Day.

Michelle Obama Touches The Queen, And It Ain’t Latifah!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 2, 09

      Michelle & Queen Elizabeth

There has been a small uproar over in Londontown as President Obama & First Lady Michelle are visiting and making nice with the Royals. In the midst of this, Michelle apparently reciprocated a gesture from Queen Elizabeth and it has caused some controversy.

I thought, “ooh she touched a YT lady!” but apparently it’s not allowed to touch the Queen. However, the Queen was the one who broke protocol by placing her hand on the small of Michelle’s back. Michelle then returned the favor and put her arm briefly around the shoulders of the Queen.

Or hey, maybe the Queen just wanted to touch the donk! Who knows!

According to eyewitnesses, the exchange occurred as the Queen was waiting in the Throne Room following the official group picture with the national leaders here for the G20 Summit.

Michelle and Queen LizzyOne said: ‘There was a bit of a bottleneck as all of the leaders filed out so the Queen started chatting to Michelle Obama. She appeared to look up at her and make a comment about how tall she was.

‘As she did, she put her arm around Mrs Obama and rested her gloved hand on the small of her back.’

Almost simultaneously, Mrs Obama put her arm around the Queen’s shoulders rather more firmly.

‘The pair then looked at their feet and appeared to be discussing their shoes.

‘The Queen then dropped her arm and, a few seconds later, Michelle did the same. The entire exchange lasted around eight to ten seconds but was absolutely extraordinary.’

No-one – including the ladies-in-waiting standing nearby – could believe their eyes. In 57 years, the Queen has never been seen to make that kind of gesture and it is certainly against all protocol to touch her.

‘But she didn’t seem to mind a bit and was smiling and joking throughout,’ the eyewitness said. (Source)

Well, I get what the big deal is but come on, it’s really not THAT big of a deal. You know us negroes are a friendly bunch. *rolls eyes*

I’m so proud of our President and First Lady. They are overseas repping! They are OUR royal family! They are doing a great job and are representing America well.

What do you all think about this “controversy”? It’s definitely fitting of their moniker of “change”! I want to hear from the UK/European readers as well!

Did He Call Him Toby?! And Wasn’t Even Sorry.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Nov 5, 08

I can’t and I won’t. My God, how do you make a comment like the one he did on a day like today? “Uncle Sam, Uncle Tom, Toby…”

Out of his mouth. And he wasn’t even sorry. Nope. He asked him if he would have worded it differently basically, and he said nope. *smh*

I think this is just a harbinger of the difficulties of what President-Elect Obama is going to face. The easy part was getting to this point today. NOW the real work begins of healing and putting back together our broken country.

      BUT YES WE CAN!

We now return back to our hiatus LOL.

      Yes. Yes, We Can.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Oct 29, 08

You know, allow me a minute to put aside the music videos, the gossip, the whatever.

I’ve not really explicitly stated my preference in politics. I pretty much try to stay away from the whole issue and keep my thoughts to myself. That said, I have never ever been as energized as I am about this country as I am in this time right now. This election has moved me on so many levels and has stirred up passion that I didn’t know I had.

I tuned in about halfway tonight to Barack’s 30 minute commercial (see above if you missed it as well) but the first thing I heard him say was “he was shaped more by his father’s absence” and the fact that his mother made him get up at 4 AM to do lessons and whatnot.

THAT right there is why I want to vote for this man. He just seems smarter, a breath of fresh air, and ready to take on the great challenge that is righting this country. I want to vote for him because I can relate to him. He is more reflective of my life than any other candidate of the history in American presidential hopefuls.

My view of politics is that “you always have to choose the lesser of two evils”, and while I may not agree with EVERYTHING he agrees with, the majority of the time I do. And that’s why I am voting for Barack Obama this weekend when I mail in my ballot.

Like Michelle Obama pretty much said, I am finally proud to be an American!

      Diddy Bought Enyce…FUBU NEXT!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Oct 22, 08

Would I sound like a hater if I said I really didn’t care? I mean, I haven’t been able to buy new clothes since gas shot up this summer, so *woohoo* party in the Bad Boy Shiny Suit Crypt.

I really really can’t care though. I’m glad he’s expanding his empire, but I’m not sure if buying another “urban” line to complement your other “urban”-ish line is exactly diversifying. But, I probably don’t know what the hell I am talking about.

However, his video about being scared of Sarah Palin, I must say that I definitely DEFINITELY agree with that. Have ya’ll seen these shenanigans!? She don’t even know what the job of the Vice-President is. *falls the hell AND heaven out!*

I need a drink. Everyone is richer than me.

McCain Won’t Appear On BET, But Barack Will Rock That Vote!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Oct 21, 08

I was sad because I thought he was actually gonna be in the studios. But nonetheless, he did it! I didn’t know they had an invitation out to John McCain and he declined. That makes me feel better because I was wondering if BET was just being one-sided, but I guess not.

What did you think of the interview?

My President Is Black…My VP is a stripper

Written by MissOMyGoodnezz in Blogs on Sep 4, 08

Regardless of how you vote…VOTE. I however, will not be voting for anything having to do with Sarah “Ho Sit Down” Palin. While doing my daily blog rounds I stopped by Wifee’s World where Raider_Wifee discussed some very good points. Why in the world did John McCain choose Sarah Palin as his VP choice? She can’t run her home, God forbid she ever have to run the country. Check out some of the great points wifee came up with: Continue Reading…

      J. Hud To Sing National Anthem For Barack + Michelle’s Speech & TV One Fallout

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Aug 26, 08

      Jennifer Hudson

My girl Jennifer Hudson is going to be Baracking the Vote as she has been requested by Obama himself to sing the National Anthem the night he accepts the Democratic National Party’s nomination at this week’s Democratic National Convention.

I wish they’d mess up everyone and sing the Black National Anthem (“Lift Every Voice & Sing”) but I’m sure the KKK and the YT people would start flipping chairs and Faux News would SHANK HIM where he stands.

Did anyone catch Michelle Obama’s speech last night? It was pretty cool. They are such a beautiful family! And I heard that Michael Eric Dyson caught flack for talking about Mrs. Obama’s derriere…shame on you.
