    • THE IPS Blogs: RIP Michael Jackson. One Year Ago Today…

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jun 25, 10

I still can’t believe that Michael Jackson is dead.

Michael Jackson and his music were one of the main reasons I decided to make music my career. I will never forget where I was when it was confirmed that MJ was actually DEAD. I sat speechless for 20 minutes, just saying “OMG Michael Jackson is dead…OMG….” over and over. I remembered how sad I was ANYWAY that I wasn’t going to get to go to London to see him on his last tour “This Is It”.

However, I went and saw “This Is It” in a theater by myself so I could enjoy it and fully envelop myself in it. I cried. And I still cannot watch that movie again yet to this day. I get emotional just listening to MJ’s songs still. I was going to do a blackout today on the blog in honor, just like I did when he died. But, I’ve been slacking anyway being that this is the first week of school, so I decided to go ahead and go forth. “Don’t Stop Until You Get Enough” is what he would say.

One of my musical heroes is gone but is never forgotten…his style, influence, and creativity will live on forever. Long live The King of Pop. He was anointed, a visionary, and more! We miss you Michael.

I hope you are “letting it sizzle”.

Reggie Noble Is “Lookin’ Fly” With A Tribute To MJ In This New Short Vid

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jun 9, 10

Redman aka Reggie Noble pays a quick homage to Michael Jackson with his video for “Lookin’ Fly”. His new album Reggie is supposedly coming soon.

The music is lifted from The Jacksons’ “This Place Hotel”, which is one of their oft-sampled hits. I think it was composed/written entirely by Michael Jackson if my memory serves me correctly. The visuals are lifted from the “Rock With You” video. Reggie’s suit is probably lifted from Mr. Formal. LOL!

I seriously cannot even think about Michael Jackson being dead. OMG just…no. I still can’t watch “This Is It” again either. I just get sad.

Paul Anka Tributes MJ & Does Posthumous Duet On Their Song “This Is It”

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Feb 26, 10

      OK, this kinda moved me.

Paul Anka, who is a worldwide legend as a songwriter and performer if you didn’t know, is the one who, many years ago, co-wrote Michael Jackson’s posthumously released song “This Is It”. In the beginning of the clip, he gives a little back story, then swings into his own version, then with his orchestra, segues into the Michael Jackson version. It was all very just…

I’m still sad that Michael Jackson has passed. Call me sentimental, but I don’t think I will ever get over it.

Classic Flashback: Jackson 5 – “I Am Love”

Written by The IPS in Blogs,Videos on Feb 9, 10

Sing b! This was before all them chemicals and treatments and ozone-depleting sprays made it to his head — Jermaine Jackson could sing too ya’ll! That’s why he wants to lead all the songs now in the Jackson 4 LOL. Let me quit.

Honestly, I’d forgotten about this song, but my boo reminded me of it and I fell in love with it all over again. Jermaine actually sounded great, the music is DOPE, especially when the beat changes and Michael goes in. The Jackson 5 truly were one-of-a-kind. I’m getting misty eyed just watching MJ on this little Youtube.

I mean, seriously, who wrote that instrumental change? That’s just crazy.

Awww and look at lil’ Janet. And….Cher! Phew. It’s amazing.

Michael Jackson’s Archives Take A Leak; “Another Day” Hits Web

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 4, 10

MTV News has all the updates and background you can shake a jewled glove at on this song. After listening to it, I think it could have been one that goes in my rotation. It’s short, and you don’t hear any Lenny Kravitz, though online reports say that it’s a  duet possibly that he recorded with Michael Jackson.

Take a listen before they snatch it down!

A previously unreleased snippet of a song from late pop great Michael Jackson reportedly called “Another Day” has leaked. Almost 90 seconds of the song, which is said to be a duet Jackson recorded with Lenny Kravitz, has turned up online and features vocals from Jackson over a thumping R&B beat and soaring strings….

Kravitz wrote a moving memorial to Jackson for AOL’s Spinner.com last year, in which he talked about working on an unreleased song with the King of Pop, though he did not name the tune. “I got to work with Michael on a track that has not been released, and it was the most amazing experience I’ve had in the studio,” he said. “He was funny. Very funny and we laughed the whole time. I also saw what a beautiful father he was. He was a beautiful human being.”

Kravitz is not heard on the leak, and it is unknown when the track was recorded. Following Jackson’s death in June, it was reported that the singer left behind more than 100 unreleased songs, though his estate has not yet announced any plans to package that material. (Source)

I was wondering when we’d start to maybe hear some of the music that MJ had never released. I wonder if it’s any good or if they will bring out producers to re-work and finish it? One thing is sure, that estate is not going to let ANY money get away from them!

Spike Lee Does Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” With Tribute + Video

Written by The IPS in Videos on Dec 14, 09

STILL sad. Watching stuff like this makes me sad. I just cannot help it.

The Jackson Family’s reality show also made me a tad bit sad (when I wasn’t joking or pointing and laughing at Jermaine’s hair), but Spike Lee does Michael Jackson justice with this tribute video and “music” video which features Michael Jackson’s song “This Is It”.

The first few minutes are some interviews and the video starts at around 3 minutes. The video features childhood memorabilia and shots from Michael Jackson’s childhood home, fan love, clips from the movie and is a snapshot of him growing up into the King of Pop. RIP MJ!

Michael Jackson’s “Captain EO” Coming Back To Disneyland?

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Nov 16, 09

Captain EO, Part 1 above — Part 2 after the jump!

I never got to see it, so I would totally be down for this:

The word from Hollywood is that Disneyland is planning to revive Michael Jackson’s 3D film beginning in January. Heavily influenced by “Star Wars,” the 1986 short film was produced by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Back in those days, Michael had the money from “Thriller” to make anything happen.

Among the cast: Michael, Anjelica Huston, Dick Shawn—the latter died less than a year after “Captain EO” was released.

It’s the 3D version coming back to Disneyland… (Source)

Man, he’s about to make a billion MORE dollars in death…My kids will be friends with Blanket ROFL.

Classic Flashback: Diana Ross – “Muscles”

Written by The IPS in Blogs,Videos on Oct 13, 09

Reader KBJr. sent this one in today, and I’d forgotten all about this song LOL. This joint was written by Michael Jackson if yeen know.

Diana Ross was getting her sexy on in this joint in that grandma nightgown though! ROFL!

I gotta say though, in terms of Michael’s output for females, this has NOTHING on Rebbie’s “Centipede”. LOL act like you know!

I was LOL’ing all over the place when she started flying around the Grand Canyon like Wonder Woman. I can’t. Videos were SO BAD in the 80′s. Was she dreaming but singing in her sleep? LOL, ok for “sleepsinging” — no sleep walking for her.

Really? “This Is It”? RIP Michael Jackson!

Written by The IPS in Blogs,New Music & Reviews on Oct 12, 09

I’m sorry, this just falls so short to me, but at the end of the day, it’s still good to hear MJ’s voice one more time.

There are the fans who will say this song is great, unflawless, etc. And me, I am a MJ stan, please believe it.

But on the other hand, this feels like a lazily lobbed attempt to capitalize just one more time on MJ’s legacy. I’m not hating it, but, Michael Jackson has released demos that sound better than this, I swear!

His voice sounds great, a fact that isn’t exciting per se since this was probably recorded in the late 1980′s and is a song he wrote with Paul Anka and was previously recorded by an artist named Safire (or Sa-Fire) with backing vocals by one named Brian McKnight.

I also hearing that the backup vocals on this version were re-recorded by his brothers, The Jackson 5? Wow. I can believe that because Michael Jackson is the King of background vocals and harmonizations and these feel a little sloppy and loose to me. Of course, this is the track that is going to play over the end credits of the “This Is It” movie when it is released in theatres.

I didn’t get my tickets to see the movie, but personally, I think I’m going to keep my good memories of MJ…and maybe catch the DVD whenever it comes out. What ya’ll think?

Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” Rehearsal Film Coming Soon…For Two Weeks

Written by The IPS in Movies on Aug 21, 09

The film with rehearsal footage of Michael Jackson’s last concert tour is indeed getting released. However, it’ll only be a short run, so you better get ready to deal with all them crazy MJ fans that pass out and will try and do some crazy ish like seeing it every single day of it’s limited run. You know someone will, mark my words!

Sony Pictures and Sony Music are releasing “Michael Jackson: This Is It” for a limited two-week run, and pushing up the film’s opening two days to Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Sony will put the tickets on sale Sept. 27. (Source)

Sony paid $60 million for the film and they are sure to get their money back by limiting this run and making it a sold out event. Should be a nice chunk of change for everyone involved.

I also hear that they are going to put it out on DVD as well.

Me personally I’m not too sure if I want to see this — it may just be a sad reminder of how frail and ginger Michael was. We will see though…what ya’ll think?
