    • “Oh Santa”, Please Leave A Lump Of Coal In Mariah Carey’s Stocking…

Written by The IPS in Videos on Nov 2, 10

      Alright Mariah, you tried it!

Mariah Carey is just putting out this album because The-Dream is in the middle of a divorce and is working with Kim Kardashian on her debut record and has no new time for tepid R&B radio joints. Oh, and she’s about to have a new mouth to feed.

I really think at this point in career, Mariah shouldn’t even bother. I could have lived without this record. Her voice could have lived on better if she hadn’t forced it into some more whistle notes just for the hell of it. But…it’s Christmas, and we can ALWAYS use another original Christmas song, right?

I just loved all the wide shots and the shots close up and of Santa Claus. LOL. I don’t know when this record is out, and I don’t care, so if you want it that bad, go find it. I heard it already, and I wasn’t impressed. Hark the Hearald, Angels Sing, Mariah Carey needs to leave Christmas BE!

Mariah Carey Didn’t Choke On Yuletide On Her Rendition of “O Come All Ye Faithful”. Amen!

Written by The IPS in New Music & Reviews on Oct 26, 10

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Mariah Carey is putting out another Christmas album called Merry Christmas II You on November 2nd, and the first song has leaked. It’s a cover of “O Come All Ye Faithful” with a special blend of the “Hallelujah Chorus” at the end. Exciting stuff, right? The song also features her supposedly opera-trained mother Patricia Carey as well.

I’m sorry, all I could think of was when Mariah Carey played Billie in “Glitter” and her mom was the singer who gave her up for adoption, and was played by Big DeeDee from “Half & Half”…

In any case, Mariah Carey actually sounds decent. Now, I don’t know if she has been sleeping in Michael Jackson’s vacuum-sealed hyperbaric chamber, or if Nick Cannon has been massaging her throat muscles nightly with lavender leaves, but she hasn’t sung like this in quite a while. However, show me the receipts! Studio work goes a long ways, and I want to see it live. Yes, I’m the pessimist LOL. What ya’ll think?

Some Random Thoughts Of Foolery From The IPS On This Monday…Get Into It!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Sep 27, 10

Mariah Carey fell in Singapore. Either she is pregnant, or she is realllllly big. I hope she’s pregnant. And even more importantly, WHY IS EVERYONE HOLLERING!? Backgrounds…wow. And Mimi talked the whole time….

      • I hear Keri Hilson and Ciara are getting into it again lowkey about them being compared to each other. Keri, well, Ciara, I’m sorry — Ciara WRITES her songs. You just have perfected the art of making that a** pop. So, no matter what happens, I think you still lose. Cause one day that a** gone drop, pop a blood vessel, and you won’t be able to get it back up again Matrix-style. Keri, even if her voicebox is blown out in a freak studio accident still will be making money from her songwriting! Sat down.
      • Fantasia almost killed herself, got more press, and still, her album has yet to cross the 200K mark yet. I’m going to say that unless she gets pregnant by old dude and get his name tattooed on her forehead for good measure, she won’t be making platinum anytime soon.
      • Faith Evans’ new video is STILL terrible ya’ll. I’m sorry, I tried to watch it again, and them praise dancers just make want to cry. Remember when Faith was chubby and was in a roller skating rink for the “Love Like This Before” video? I’d almost rather have that all over again.
      • This Nelly “Just A Dream” video is really letting me know that Nelly’s time has passed. Where is Murphy Lee and that dude that wore the half-hockey-mask thing? They need to remake “Humpty Dumpty” or some other asinine nursery rhyme so we don’t have to hear Katy Perry anymore. At least it’d be catchier than…wow, who’s the latest hot pop-rapper? Flo-Rida is somewhere ripping up all the “Brandy & Flo-Rida 4 Ever” pictures he scribbled on his “Right Round” royalty statements…
      • Brandy is on “Dancing With The Stars” which I don’t watch, right? Right. All I want Brandy to do is dancerie herself Mary J. Blige style into a studio booth, make up with Rodney Jerkins, call Keith Crouch and Rahsaan Patterson, and make some music. Girl, you went from “America’s Got Talent” to “Dancing With The Stars” and all we got left with is Nick Cannon and Monica belting for her last little bit of vocal life with that Deniece Williams cover. Save us!
      • Lil’ Wayne has a new album coming out this week. It’s called I’m Not A Human Being. YES, WE KNOW. You’re a Martian, an alien, the Pussy Monster, etc. You should have called it I’m Not A Free Man and GAVE it out for free. How is he recording music and releasing it and profiting on it? Isn’t there some law against this? Where is Judge Judy when you need her?
      • Did ya’ll hear about this Rick Ross sex tape? There’s nothing I want to see less on this Earth than Rick Ross porking it up with some poor groupie. Literally. Rickay, please work to get a Ricky MARTIN body before you start flaunting what the good/bad God gave you. I’d rather look directly into the sun…
      • The Diplomats are reuniting. So does that mean hi-speed sampling is going to come back into favor and popularity? And…who are the rest of the Diplomats besides Jim Jones and Cam’ron? Maybe that’s me being a West Coast dude, but if they ain’t helping to clean up the oil spill or brokering peace in the Middle East, I veto this wholeheartedly!
      • Kanye West released another song on G.O.O.D. Friday called “So Appalled”. It’s alright — I think I am just MORE happy to hear a track WITHOUT Charlie Wilson! I mean, is Nate Dogg still not up and moving about? Didn’t Ronald Isley just get out of jail? Is Stevie Wonder on sabbatical from life? Who drug up Charlie Wilson? He only sounds good with Snoop and Justin Timberlake – duh.
      • Are we EVER going to see the video for Alicia Keys’ and Beyonce’s “Put It In A Love Song”? Or did Mashonda hack into Alicia’s email and delete that ish forever? Maybe that is the one good thing Mashonda has done in her life…
      • Chris Brown has a new song called “Yeah”. I think I am just gonna move to Europe anyway since all of OUR R&B artists are stealing the sound. I bet something ELSE is popular in Europe by now…Chris Brown’s comeback is heavily anticipated. I get it, but…not really. All that aside, this song is him angling for another Doublemint commercial. THAT was the beginning of the end!
      • Is anyone REALLY going to BUY these new R. Kelly CD’s?! Inquiring minds and small children of the female persuasion the world over want to know.
      • Tonex’ AKA B. Slade has a really dope song that I like right now, “Going Away”. What I REALLY want is CNN to bring HIM on as a pundit or something in this whole Eddie Long debacle…

That’s all I got right now. Feel free to weigh in, disagree, vent, or whatever. Just some random thoughts for ya!

Mariah Carey Is Recording And Is Going To Put A New Album Out *confetti*

Written by The IPS in Blogs on May 5, 10

Mariah Carey is back in the studio recording an album — first I heard it was a Christmas album, but it appears it may be another regular album release. Well, they were in the studio last night and did a Ustream (Mariah, Bryan-Michael Cox, Randy Jackson, and Jermaine Dupri amongst others) talking about their “secret concept”, “making history” and having “live instruments”.

      What a concept!

I don’t know, unless Mariah stepped into a time machine and/or has been sleeping in Michael Jackson’s secret hyperbaric chamber to fix up that voicebox, I really honestly can say that I’m not SUPER interested. Let’s hear a single or a leak or something…cause Mariah’s rep is shakier than the San Andreas fault!

And check out Mariah’s customized Ring Pop that Nick Cannon got her when they just renewed their vows…crazy.

Mariah Unleashes Her Secret Weapon To Save Her $$ — Nick Cannon

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jan 28, 10

Mariah Carey has released her two videos from her upcoming remix project, Angels Advocate (I still cannot with that title — it sounds like a volunteer program at a Children’s Hospital…ummm OK.), which has been pushed back until March 23rd.

The first two singles to precede the set are the “Angels Cry” remix which features Ne-Yo and the “Up Out My Face” remix with Nicki Minaj. Both were directed by husband Nick Cannon (has he done any other videos?) and seem to be done quickly and for the least amount possible for MC level thrifty budgets.

Hit the jump for the two videos and their reviews. Aren’t you excited? *crickets* LOL!

This Is What It Sounds Like When Lambs Cry: Mariah’s “Angel’s Advocate” Remix Album Pushed Back

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 15, 10

Mariah Carey’s remix album, titled Angel’s Advocate, has been pushed back to March 9th, 2010. It had been slated for February, but they’ve pushed it back.

Now, I am gonna say that it was pushed back since they just laid off staff at Universal Music Group — staff that of course would be utilized to go out and “buy” the album; but the real reason is probably because “Precious” also hits DVD that day and she’s also going on a tour of the same name around the same time.

The original just went gold — and I just read that Rihanna went platinum. How/why/who? LOL.

I won’t be paying for this remix album or this tour — this is not the 90′s and there is no ODB in sight so I’m good. As far as the tour — come on, really? I’d rather pull out my MTV Unplugged live of Mariah’s from a grip ago and call it a wrap. Of course the lambs are gonna come out and support. I eat lambchops for dinner though! Pow!

Are Mary and Mariah doing a remix of sorts? That’s gonna sound like Bert & Ernie playing with a See ‘N Say. Lawd. More after the jump!

Beyonce’ Takes A Creole Sabbatical + Mariah Carey Goes Gold

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 12, 10

Beyonce’ is taking a break ya’ll. That’s right, the prayers of the righteous availeth much!

“It’s definitely time to take a break, to recharge my batteries,” says Beyoncé, 28. “I’d like to take about six months and not go into the studio. I need to just live life, to be inspired by things again.” (Source)

The heavens rejoice, the stans lament, and Jay-Z is excited about actually getting some Creole cooking in his kitchen!

I’m glad Beyonce’ is making this decision personally. 6 months might not be long enough, but we need to miss her. And the music has become just a LITTLE stale, so a break is probably going to be creatively. I mean, Sade takes years. Beyonce’ seems to take weeks between albums LOL.

I bet you any new music she comes up with will be better when she comes back! And of course, we still have her upcoming Grammy performances and the yet to be seen “Telephone” video with Lady GaGa. Oh and that faux-ghetto “Put It In A Love Song” video is supposedly dropping too.

And in other news, Mariah Carey just went GOLD. That’s it. Gold. Album sales of course, not digital singles. But still…wow. I remember when Mariah used to be…well, Mariah.

Mariah Can’t Even Sing This ABC Song “Obsessed” Live Anymore…FAIL.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Dec 17, 09

So Mariah Carey hit up “Lopez Tonight”, comedian George Lopez’s show, and you know what, I wasn’t going to post this (or watch it) because this song is about as old as Mariah’s black leotard she keeps wearing, but oh man, it was just so bad I had to point some things out.

      • The first 30 seconds of this performance sum up Mariah’s whole album cycle as of late. Off key, a mess and just a shame. She’s too much of a pro and diva and performer to sound like this! Soul stealing.
      • She looks like she sounds on this stage w/ this performance, a mess.
      • Mariah being such the star that she is and been in the game for so long, WHY is she even allowing herself to go out and get played like this? I mean, she’s fallen way down the scale from her former glory. Take a sick day.
      • The background singers seem like THEY aren’t even trying to cover up for her anymore. Sad day.
      • She’s never had any rhythm, but Jesus!
      • And lastly, that whistle note? SHE’S NOT DOING THAT LIVE! Know how I know? Despite the fact that they zoomed out on that part (not slick), you can see when they zoom back in at the 3:37-ish mark that her MOUTH is still on that whistle note part BUT the song has already moved on. FAIL!!!

I used to love her but I don’t love her no ‘mo. Like Keyshia Cole and Kanye, I CHANGED MY MIND. I cannot. Stop the rewriting of history books Mariah on your continued decline with this pop-schlock like “Obsessed” and these TERRIBLE live performances! This song is SO easy and 123 Paint By Numbers that she should NOT sound this bad singing it.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE LEGENDS GONE?!

Lambs To The Slaughter: Mariah Carey Is Going On Tour

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Dec 13, 09

Mariah Carey is hitting the road to prop up album sales and/or her bank account after her recent album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel was largely not very well received and a disappointment. She is calling it the “Angels Advocate Tour” (I’ll wait…) and it is hitting up all the major cities, with the opening night being December 31st, 2009 in New York at Madison Square Garden.

I don’t know about you but this seems kind of a sudden announcement…she announced December 11. That’s 20 days away from the tour date start. Her massive army of “lambs” aka fan/stans are sure to snap up the tickets, but I even know a lot of hardcore Mimi fans who largely ignored this album after a couple of listens. Couple that with the fact that vocally she’s not sounding the greatest these days, so expect 1-2 hours of Trey Lorenz doing all the heavy lifting — and her backing-track engineer. She better call Melonie Daniels up!

Even more puzzling is the opening group being included in the press release — RydazNrtist. Yeah, who (their stock alone has even increased since being mentioned in the same sentence with Mariah. Smart.)? Well, they are hubby’s Nick Cannon’s signees to his label NCredible Entertainment, and I think one of the members is his relative. Favoritism had to come into play at some point for us to see and BAM! I hope there are other opening acts to be announced…

Will you shell out hard dollars for this tour? Let me know…I’m interested. Tour dates after the jump.

The Only Thing I Hate More Than This “H.A.T.E.U.” Video Is The Album It’s From…

Written by The IPS in Videos on Dec 9, 09

Mariah Carey gets a big fail. Period. LOL, from the album to the videos just to EVERYTHING.

This is nothing but 3+ minutes of her in a bathing suit mouthing the lyrics to her song. I mean, really? They paid Brett Ratner WAY too much for this, I am almost 100% sure.

I mean, there is literally nothing else to talk about in this video. She should really buy a time machine with all that money she has and go back in time and just erase this album from life. I just cannot! “Obsessed” came on my Internet Radio the other day and I just shut the whole computer off trying to get away from it! A mess HAHAHA!
