I love Janelle Monae, color-blind as she is! HA.

Lupe Fiasco (I kinda miss that dude) and B.o.B. jump on to freshen up the “Tightrope” remix and even Janelle gets a couple of bars in at the folks who have something to say about her clothes and posing in Vogue magazine. I’m not mad at all, GET EM!

She either looks like she is about to serve some hors d’oeuvres at a Diddy party with Dirty Money OR ride a black & white horse at the racetrack. Either way, she’s cute and I’m digging it. What ya’ll think?

Hi-Tech Meets Lo-Fi On Lupe Fiasco’s “I’m Beaming”

Lupe Fiasco is back and none too soon as he hits with “I’m Beaming”, the first official single off the “will be released this year” album, Lasers.

The visuals for this are dope — with both a nod to the future and a nod to the past in the form of children, I am loving the green screen meets human being look that directors Illusive Media blessed him with. Lupe is too cool for school, but you know what? He spits. And the re-enactments and illustrations really gave me an additional feel for what this song was about.

Great connection, great concept, great all around visually. He may not be getting B.o.B. radio play with this one, but Lupe comes in and perfects the formula that I feel B.o.B. is kind of rehashing in his own way [see his “Bet I” video for similarities. Lupe does it without the air of “crossover appeal built-in”…

The Bangz – “Found My Swag” (Featuring New Boyz)

OK, now see, I kinda like The Bangz. New Boys? Not so much. I mean, the light-skinned one Legacy said “Budden in like Joe”, as in, butting in. I cannot!

One of The Bangz was shot, Ella Ann, was shot last year and had been in serious condition, hence her being represented by her image on the TV’s. The remaining female MC, Sabi, is actually way more interesting than Nicki Minaj. Her “half-breed…half-Black/half bad b*tch” line was kinda dope. That’s just me. What ya’ll think? Call it the West Coast in me, but I like ‘em! The New Boys can go back to Hot Topic with all that.

New Moon soundtrack heh? Well, this is very un-hip-hop of Lupe Fiasco. This is more some Linkin Park mashup sounding music, but a check is a check. I’ve not seen this movie, and I’m sure the song corroborates the plot somehow, but as for me and my house, we will take a pass on this one. I’ve been looking forward to new Lupe music but this isn’t QUITE what I expected…

Has anyone seen this movie? Bought the soundtrack? LOL, what ya’ll think?

Lupe Fiasco has created a new mixtape for his fans for free download called Enemy of the State: A Love Story.

Tracklist after the jump and he does versions featuring freestyles to Timbo’s and Drake’s “Say Something,” and the Clipse’s “Popular Demand,” and amongst other jewels. What you think — I haven’t had the chance to listen to it yet as I am currently trying to keep my house from burning down with Turkey shenanigans!

Lupe Fiasco – “Shining Down”Â Feat. Matthew Santos

I am LOVING this track. You know who would sound good on that hook though? Adam Lambert from American Idol. I almost thought it was him when Matthew Santos hits that upper part.

This is the perfect mix of rock snarl with hip-hop swagger and the more I listen to it, the more I like it. Though I have every Lupe album anyway, so it’s not a stretch for me.

What do you all think of this new track? I am assuming it’s coming from a new Lupe record…and I heard they were pulling this song, so get it while you can!

Lupe Fiasco’s new video is out for “Hip Hop Saved My Life” and it is pretty great! I love the simplicity of it, the story-telling slant he took with the video, and even how it’s not ALL ABOUT HIM in the video, you know? This was already one of the songs on the album that I liked. I didn’t give that album enough burn though, I need to bust it back out.

I need to Google-fu this Nikki Jean chick, she’s kinda cute. However, she’s giving me Macy Gray with Laryngitis on these vocals. She doesn’t sound bad, and she actually fits the song well. I think she should have had a little more shine time because I liked when she was on screen LOL, kidding. She kinda reminds me of that chick from City High, yes/no?

Lupe’s sales will always be a fiasco indeed, but I hope he gets some play out of this one. I didn’t really care about “Superstar” with the bootleg John Legend, however, this song hits home. I can feel the emotion. Great A&R’ing was done on this record.
