Lupe Fiasco’s new video is out for “Hip Hop Saved My Life” and it is pretty great! I love the simplicity of it, the story-telling slant he took with the video, and even how it’s not ALL ABOUT HIM in the video, you know? This was already one of the songs on the album that I liked. I didn’t give that album enough burn though, I need to bust it back out.

I need to Google-fu this Nikki Jean chick, she’s kinda cute. However, she’s giving me Macy Gray with Laryngitis on these vocals. She doesn’t sound bad, and she actually fits the song well. I think she should have had a little more shine time because I liked when she was on screen LOL, kidding. She kinda reminds me of that chick from City High, yes/no?

Lupe’s sales will always be a fiasco indeed, but I hope he gets some play out of this one. I didn’t really care about “Superstar” with the bootleg John Legend, however, this song hits home. I can feel the emotion. Great A&R’ing was done on this record.
