    • “We Are The World” — We!? Not Me, Don’t Lump Me In With This Mess!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Feb 15, 10

Justin Beiber starts this party off? Really? ALL that talent in the room, and the first voices we are hear are Justin Beiber and Nicole Scherzinger? This is where the train begings to derail folks, trust me. It gets better/worse, depending on how you are viewing this. Sure, Haiti may benefit from it. But, we don’t, and neither does the roaming ghost of Michael Jackson, I am pretty sure.

      My review after the jump!

      Album Cover: Chris Brown’s “Graffiti”

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Nov 2, 09

      Chris Brown Graffiti Cover

Chris Brown dropped the cover art for his Graffiti album today on Twitter.

I’m loving (air quotes) the leggings. Or are those riding pants? LOL all he needs is a stirrup and a whip. Well, maybe a whip wouldn’t be the best look for him right now…

I don’t get the futurisitic/space theme look, yet there are cartoon monsters and whatnot? He needs to reconcile these two ideas into one cohesive thought.

Chris could burp the ABC’s while spinning on his head and his fans would still buy it, so oh well. But this outfit is just doing the most and not in a good way LOL. He looks like he’s about to vogue and twirk on the Moon. Ay dios mio!

Album drops Dec. 15th though — the video for “Crawl” should be dropping soon.

Please, share your $.02. I can’t wait to hear it LOL!!

Really? “This Is It”? RIP Michael Jackson!

Written by The IPS in Blogs, New Music & Reviews on Oct 12, 09

I’m sorry, this just falls so short to me, but at the end of the day, it’s still good to hear MJ’s voice one more time.

There are the fans who will say this song is great, unflawless, etc. And me, I am a MJ stan, please believe it.

But on the other hand, this feels like a lazily lobbed attempt to capitalize just one more time on MJ’s legacy. I’m not hating it, but, Michael Jackson has released demos that sound better than this, I swear!

His voice sounds great, a fact that isn’t exciting per se since this was probably recorded in the late 1980’s and is a song he wrote with Paul Anka and was previously recorded by an artist named Safire (or Sa-Fire) with backing vocals by one named Brian McKnight.

I also hearing that the backup vocals on this version were re-recorded by his brothers, The Jackson 5? Wow. I can believe that because Michael Jackson is the King of background vocals and harmonizations and these feel a little sloppy and loose to me. Of course, this is the track that is going to play over the end credits of the “This Is It” movie when it is released in theatres.

I didn’t get my tickets to see the movie, but personally, I think I’m going to keep my good memories of MJ…and maybe catch the DVD whenever it comes out. What ya’ll think?

WTF Files: Lil’ Kim & Cyndi Lauper Try to Assassinate Nelson Mandela

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jul 21, 09

Kimberly Jones, the singer/rapper/dancer (I can’t tell from that dress, it looks like a cotton candy tutu) donned the stage with legend Cyndi Lauper for Nelson Mandela’s birthday/charity celebration in L.A. this past weekend.

No no and more no. Who in the programming of this concert decided to let Lil’ Kim sing?! I mean, Cyndi Lauper can BARELY sing this song herself, so what made them think adding slightly-tone-deaf Plastic Parts Barbie would make it any better?

It just makes Kim look foolish, Cyndi sound worse, and Nelson Mandela I’m sure was like “I’m getting too old for this sh*t”, a la Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon LOL.

If I turn 90+ and ya’ll break out Cassie and Mary J. Blige at my party, I’m breaking out the shotty and taking some mofo’s out! That ain’t a party, that’s a ROAST!

I applaud Kim for coming out of her comfort zone, but she took my eardrums out of their comfort zone, and for that, I must respectfully decline any further singing engagements on her behalf.

Trick, you ain’t Kang Latifah! Save it for the pro’s!

Did You Know The Jackson 5…Err 4…Were Shooting A Reality TV Show!?

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jul 13, 09

Apparently Randy, Tito, Jackie, Marlon and Jermaine were trying to get their paychecks for the month because they were shooting a reality TV show on A&E and had already finished filming footage before all of this death business happened.

What!? Say it ain’t so! I don’t think the world is ready for the return of the Duke of Curl that is Jermaine Jackson…

A&E is working on a reality project with the Jackson family which could gain newfound viewer interest in the wake of the King of Pop’s death.

The network commissioned a one-hour special following Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Randy that was originally intended to serve as a “backdoor pilot” for a potential series. The project was commissioned months ago and producers have finished shooting footage that followed Jackson family members as they readied a new album and reunion tour.

A&E planned to air the result as a special, tentatively titled “The Jackson Family,” next year, taking a “wait and see” approach and gauging viewer reaction before deciding whether to order the project as a series.

After Michael’s unexpected death last month and subsequent intensive media coverage, the question for A&E becomes: What now?

Producers have not shot any additional footage with the family since Jackson’s death, leaving the network with a project that’s still attractive — one that uses footage and interviews capturing the current incarnation of the Jackson 5 as entertainers, entrepreneurs and family members — yet also has a glaring narrative omission hanging over its current form. (Source)

I’m not even gonna lie like I wouldn’t have watched it, but…I hope they don’t air it now.

If they do, I hope it addresses questions like how Jermaine’s conk is still so superb, why didn’t Rebbie ever do anything else really after “Centipede”, is that one girl really Janet’s daughter, where is 3T…you know, all the questions we REALLY want to know. *rolls eyes*

Still a talented family though, but I think in light of what’s happened, this isn’t a good idea.

      Trailer: Marques Houston’s “Boogie Town”

Written by The IPS in Movies on Jun 9, 09

      I. Am. Speechless.

LOL!! OMG I laughed, I cried, I sobbed. *slow claps* Seriously, LOL! Read the synopsis:

BOOGIE TOWN, a modern day West side Story for the hip hop generation [I can't!], takes place in a New York City of the future. There’s no more violence, no more drugs – in their place are illegal dance contests, which occur in the underground world of “Boogie Town.” Micha and Jay, leaders of rival dancing crews, acquire superpowers which take the contests to new levels. Despite the animosity between the two gangs, Micha falls in love with Jay’s beautiful sister Natalie and the two become a future-day Romeo and Juliet. Written by Anonymous.

Modern day West Side Story? Umm, this looks like a reboot of The Last Dragon meets You Got Served. Chris Stokes ROFL, you get a fail.

Instead of the “glow”, they got the “energy”?! So the energy is wearing colored contacts?

Please page Allah, CC Moses, Skytel page Jesus, text Buddha and email Mohammed because I know one of them will accept my murked soul! And how about Martin Kendall from The Cosby Show (real name Joseph C. Phillips) is in the movie!! AHAHAHA!!!

Boogie Town hits theatres this month apparently…Marques Houston, you career has officially been served…up to the dogs! But the dancing looks hot, shouts to all the dancers who are working hard in this flick.

Se7en – “Girls” Feat. Lil’ Kim

Written by The IPS in Videos on Mar 11, 09

KIMBERLEY JONES, IS THAT BABY HAIR!?

Please proceed immediately to the corners of your mind and have a seat! Why she rockin’ them fat a** dookie braids and the gelled down sides!?

Oh my, I can’t, won’t and I just had a heart attack from trying to!

No for real LOL. She broke out the “How Many Licks” outfit, picked up Omarion and Trey Songz’ left over hair and made a new wig, and proceeded to look a mess for this.

I don’t know who Se7en is, but this is his first US single. The dancing…that ain’t it. The women…that ain’t it. This video…THAT AIN’T IT!

Return to Asian sender OVERNIGHT ROFL.

“Thriller” The Musical? We Ain’t Ready. No, Really. We’re Not.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 26, 09

      Michael Jackson

Instead of being the lead in the video, shoot, now Michael could play one of the monsters!!! Am I lying!?

Michael Jackson will help develop his groundbreaking “Thriller” video into a musical theater production, producers said today (Jan. 26).

The theater production will recreate the tale of the 14-minute horror film spoof based on the title song. In the video, a young couple are on a date when the boy — played by Jackson — becomes a werewolf.

“This musical will be the exclusive Michael Jackson authorized version of ‘Thriller’ and Jackson will participate in every aspect of the creative process,” said the Nederland Organization, which has acquired the rights to the musical.

“Thriller The Musical” will include songs from the 1982 album “Thriller” and its 1979 predecessor, “Off the Wall.”

The “Thriller” video, featuring dancing zombies and horror film star Vincent Price, was first aired in 1983 and became a staple of MTV. It was directed by filmmaker John Landis, who said it cost $500,000 — about 10 times the cost of the standard music video of the time.

Jackson’s spokesman, Dr. Tohme Tohme, said in the Nederland Organization statement, “The Nederlanders and Michael Jackson represent live theater and musical excellence, so let the music begin.” (Source)

Why does Michael Jackson have some doctor speaking on his behalf? Hmm. Weird.

I’m sorry though, if they cast Chris Brown or something, I am just gonna stick with my original video. There are some things that shouldn’t be remade.

And MJ didn’t even write “Thriller”…hmmm….I love MJ but…I am gonna let sleeping dogs lie LOL.

Video Review: Traffik – “Hercules” (Remix) Feat. Pitbull, Jadakiss & Guerilla Zoe

Written by The IPS in Videos on Nov 24, 08

Did he say “I don’t fall in love / man, I do the cupid shuffle”?? Bwahaha, ok, nope.

Pitbull and Jada took over this joint…Gorilla Zoe just sounds extra. When he “grr’ed” at me, I just fell out laughing.

Is there a dance for this song!? There has to be a dance! *runs to youtube* *blank stare* *epic fail*

I don’t know who Traffik is, why he spells his name like that, or why he looks like he should be rapping with JoJo Simmons & Team Blackout, but I am mad that the DJ from 106 & Park has a record label. Ay dios!

That’s all this song is good for though, a corresponding dance to do in the club. Otherwise, no one cares. I don’t think this is gonna catch on too heavy…

      I’m Boycotting GAP…Starting…NOW! Ads Are Out…

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Nov 18, 08

OK, this is REALLY boring. I mean, Janelle Monae is cool, but YT people are gonna be like “who the hell is this girl with the funnel cake on her head?” Janelle’s voice…I thought I liked her until I heard her live. Then, I was sad. No doubt, she’s talented and quirky and whatnot, but her singing Christmas songs for GAP is the ultimate “you shouldn’t have signed to Bad Boy” example. Really? And her teeth look like chiclets or something. This freaks me out. And is that Jon Heder? ROFL.

God bless Trey Songz. If he was ugly, he’d have no record deal and no one would like him LOL. I am sticking to that. Him and Flo-Rida are utterly useless (and when did GAP start selling Apple Bottom Jeans and boots w/ the fur?). Sandra Bernhard was better than him in this, she just brought more energy. The Dixie Chicks are so paid I don’t even know WHY they are in this LOL. When them dudes started doing the Kid N’ Play though I fell out. That was a wrap for me.

GAP, I’m not sure how I feel about these ads. They are kind of boring, the music is just lame, and you couldn’t make any better ads?! Urban pandering is not working for you, at least not with these people. I know we in a recession and they probably all worked for $200 gift cards and buffet kraft services on the day of the shoot, but praise sweet minty jesus and young jeezy, I know that Cassie was available. At least she is interesting to look at!
