Jor’dan Armstrong – “Make It Alright”
Get into this sexy Gospel urban R&B soul! Jor’dan Armstrong is killing this joint “Make It Alright”. He’d put out a mixtape called Jesus, Fashion & Beatz that was a nice blending of the themes of basically being a young dude who loves the Lord, Gospel music, and the usual trappings of the mainstream world like R&B, Top 40, Hip-Hop, etc. It took a lot of current musical influences and mixed them with more positive themes in relation to Gospel music — all without being extremely corny.
Jor’dan’s now released his sophomore album Stronger and it’s also a great project, featuring more of the same quality yet urban/cotemporary Gospel jams. “Make It Alright” is a holdover from the mixtape, but this is such a catchy, well-produced song — Gospel or not. It’s been on constant repeat, and even if you don’t like Gospel music, I think you might be suckered into a few repeated listens of this song along with a couple of others.
If you have kids that you want to to stop listening to Lil’ Wayne or Chris Brown, maybe try sliding a few of Stronger‘s album cuts into the rotation. I don’t think they’d be able to tell the difference.
I’m curious to hear what y’all think about this? Too Gospel for you? Not Gospel enough? Let’s talk about it. In any case, this is my jam!
