    • “Nothing” Janet Does Will Ever Make Me Forget She’s “Nasty”!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on May 27, 10

OH THE THOUGHTS THAT WENT THROUGH MY MIND DURING JANET JACKSON’S SUPRISE “AMERICAN IDOL” FINALE PERFORMANCE LAST NIGHT…

At first they were “I hope she quits singing this depressing song and DANCES!” because I can’t stand that “Nothing” song. Then my mind went to “Umm…ummm…ummm…*wipes drool*”.

Janet looked GREAT. I just flashed back to middle school and Janet posters and be scared to listen to The Velvet Rope outloud LOL. Janet murked, slayed, killed, and chopped up A LOT of folks right now. 44 years old.

She is rocking that short hair (sans product tips from Jermaine), the body is KNOCKING, and the voice is still there. Sure she lipsynched during “Nasty” but that’s expected with choreography (the dancers were great too BTW).

My only qualm was that I felt that her performance lacked FIRE. It was good, but I feel like she was taking it nice and easy. We, or maybe just me, want it fast, rough, and “nasty!” There were a bunch of other performances, but…I don’t care LOL.

Overall, they need to just CANCEL American Idol. It was Simon’s last episode, the finalists kinda suck, and it’s just not interesting anymore. 10 seasons is a nice run. C’est la vie!

It’s “Nothing” But Janet, Simple And Straight Forward, In New Clip

Written by The IPS in Videos on Apr 2, 10

Janet’s been quoted as saying that this track is simply a one-off for the new Tyler Perry “Why Did I Get Married, Too” soundtrack and that it is not taken from any new album that she was reportedly supposed to be working on. “Nothing” is really that — a lot of nothing.

There’s not much to this new video. Janet’s there. Singing. Insert clips from the movie. Zoom in and out. Look at the bangs. That’s about it.

How many of ya’ll are heading out to the theatres today to see the new movie? Let me know!

Classic Flashback: Herb Alpert – “Diamonds” Feat. Janet Jackson & Lisa Keith

Written by The IPS in Blogs,Videos on Mar 24, 10

This rare cut “Diamonds”, which featured Janet Jackson, was unearthed and released again via Janet’s Number Ones project that just recently dropped, and it’s one of my favorite Janet songs. Herb Alpert is responsible for the “A” in A&M Records, as in Interscope/Geffen/A&M Records. A true legend in the biz and an artist in his own right.

      Thanks Marc for the suggestion!

New Music: Kelly Rowland, Janet Jackson, Drake & Mary J. Blige

Kelly Rowland – “Smooches” [Listen + Download]

Kelly’s leaked a song called “Smooches” that is not slated to be on her upcoming album, which as of now has no release date or title. It was produced by producer Bangladesh, and sports a more urban sound for Kelly. The new album will also feature production from David Guetta, Rico Love and more. Buzz single yes, but Bangladesh is never going to be able to prevent people from comparing this to “Diva” or “Video Phone” just because of who it is.

But didn’t Teyana Taylor also record this song? Hmm…the newly signed Universal Motown artist is hoping her next album shows her sexy, confident side.

Janet Jackson – “Nothing” [Listen + Download]

A little bit on the boring side and sporting a more reserved Janet sound, after “Make Me” however, I guess we should have expected something slower from Janet on a new song, this being taken from the “Why Did I Get Married Too?” soundtrack. A video is reportedly in the works as well. Produced by J.D. and Bryan-Michael Cox, the song premiered on Atlanta station V103 this past week. It fits well into the J. Jackson canon musically, I must admit. The movie comes out April 2nd.

      More after the jump!

Janet Jackson Still Has That “X-Factor” We’re Looking For; GaGa Scares Us!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Dec 6, 09

Janet has hit the overseas circuit to promote her “Greatest Hits” set and she landed at X-Factor doing her hits “All For You” and “Make Me”, the only new song on the set produced by Rodney Jerkins.

I love Janet, “All for You” and “Make Me” so I’m not complaining. Janet is missing a bit of the pep and snap in her set, but I love it because she looks comfortable and happy these days, do you agree with that?

I usually like GaGa a lot and I cannot get enough of “RAH RAH RAH AH AH AH ROMA ROMA MA MAH GA GA OOH LA LA WANT YO BAD ROMANCE!” but this performance was all over the place vocally! And…is that a bathtub? A clawfoot one at that? ROFL GaGa done went all the way left with this costume too…I don’t know. I was a little scared. LOL. I ain’t gon’ lie. I mean, then to just kill the momentum with that piano performance…then the “Thriller”-esque Jerkin’ and insane asylum costume, I just had to send one up to Sweet Minty Jesus real quick. She is international though…

Did you peep how them dancers held their pose though? WORK!

Janet Jackson Is Back And She’s Making Us Move In “Make Me”!

Written by The IPS in Videos on Nov 20, 09

My goodness…Janet Jackson looks so happy and centered and in her element in this video and I am LOVING IT.

I was just saying earlier today as I was talking on my Ustream to some folks that this song has really grown on me. It’s just a fun, catchy dance song that is in the vein of Janet Jackson ’09 and it perfectly fits. This video shows just that — an effortless Janet smiling, being herself (which is naturally sexy IMO) and showing how it’s done.

The dancing is great, and she looks great. It was a very relaxed yet hype feeling that I got from this video. Like, the dancing was all in sync but slightly dragging to give each dancer a little breadth for individuality.

Janet looks AMAZING. Seriously. All the outfits compliment her but especially the one she’s wearing during the main group choreo scence — smash-status! So basically, I’m loving this. It’s perfect. It all works. Go Janet!

Janet Jackson’s Heartbreaking Recounting Of Michael’s Death

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Nov 18, 09

Janet sat down with “Good Morning America: today and chatted about how she has been coping with her brother’s death and her play by play of how it went down for her. The full interview airs tonight with Robin Roberts on ABC, and I am definitely trying to see it. I love Janet and it’s just so sad to see her especially have to go through this.

      I’m still just sad.

In other news, her greatest hits set is about to drop soon. The video for “Make Me” is also supposed to air tonight, so tune in.

Janet Jackson Had A Lot Of Hits, Didn’t She?

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Oct 16, 09

Janet is dropping another greatest hits set, this time though, it has some new joints that haven’t been released and features of course some of her most recent joints. I guess it has been about what…14 years since Design of a Decade came out, so it’s time. Comes out Nov. 17th. I’mma cop it.

I’m excited that “Scream” will be on there, as well as “The Best Things (In Life Are Free)” — I LOVE that song with Luther! And “All For You” is another fave — they could’ve left off “Call on Me” with Nelly and swapped it for “Son of a Gun” with Missy, but that’s just me. Tracklist after the jump!

New Music: Janet Jackson – “Make Me”

Written by The IPS in New Music & Reviews on Sep 14, 09

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Janet Jackson – “Make Me” [Download]

Janet Jackson “gave” her fans a “special gift” after her performance on the VMA’s in her MJ tribute, via Twitter of course, in the form of the new leaked song “Make Me”.

A more traditional return to dancey affairs, Janet’s song is light on sexual overtones, heavy panting and dark imagery this time around. With lyrics like:

Baby can you move, make me groove,
Show me what you do, make me move,
Baby can you move, make me groove,
Show me what you do, make me move,
      Baby make me… (Source)

Janet’s all in a light-hearted mood. It’s unknown who the track was produced by, but if you sign up for Janet’s mailing list, you get the link to listen to the song. It’s low quality of course, but will this be on a new upcoming album? Janet’s rumored to be working with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, so let’s hope that they return to a funkier yet updated funk/dance/pop version of Janet’s classic sound that has seemingly gotten away from her.

HAHA I own this soundtrack and this is one of my favorite movies (Mo’ Money) ever. But Janet and Luther turned in this and it was great. They weren’t in the video, but the Wayans are acting a fool and umm…
