I got nothing.
I had heard rumors and rumblings that Montell Jordan had become a man of the cloth, but I never really cared to dig and find out. I’m more than happy being a heathen with my “This Is How We Do It” ringtone, and his forays into Gospel falsetto land with his appearance on the “Fighting Temptations” soundtrack.
Then someone tweeted this track and I just about turned it to VH1 Soul in hopes that they would play the cleansing song that is “Get It On Tonight”. But alas.
Apparently yes, Montell is a Pastor. And yes, he has switched over to the Gospel side. And yes, he still is trying to be sexy…but now it’s for Jesus. Well alright!
I can’t really say what I think about this track — it’s a mix of CCM lyrics with an attempt at a radio-ready beat for today’s hit stations, with lots of bright lights, bad dancing, and faux-secular posturing. Montell takes lead, and even has a cleverly thrown in remembrance to his past life amongst the lyrics. Get into Jesus and get into Montell and get saved. Or not?
