    • Your “Rap” For The Day — Weezy’s “On Fire” And Trina’s Got An “Attitude”

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jan 7, 10

Chris Robinson directed this video and honestly, I just can’t bring myself to watch the whole thing LOL. Some of the green screen reminded me of “800 Degreez” Weezy back in the day. And the sparks coming off the chick? I don’t know Weezy…I don’t know. And I think the sample was flipped OK…but this song does nothing for me (It’s Amy Holland’s “She’s On Fire” from Scarface). His rock album Rebirth has been pushed back so many times I stopped checking. Not like I cared though.

LOL, does Trina realize that it’s 2010? I feel like…she needs to change it up a little bit. We in a recession. People ain’t got no jobs. You ain’t had a rap album in…a minute. So take back that rented Maybach from Rickay Rawse’s last shoot and go cover up them legs! Bye Felicia! LOL. Her outfits were kinda interesting but, I mean, she just sat there, moving her lips and looking like a moving breathing clothes hanger.

No for real though, she looks like Keyshia Cole in that leopard print get-up…LOL! Trina looks great, and despite the baby hair gel game lace-front game PROPER, she looks good. This song however, I forgot it by the time I finished writing this post. I hope she didn’t pay them girls too much to stand behind her…

The IPS Blogs: GUCCI! BURR! Gotta Love Gucci Mane, Right?

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Oct 19, 09

Gucci Mane has swept the country over the past year or so and has quickly become as ubiquitous as Lil’ Wayne, without all the baby mamas.

I usually shy away from such negroidian musical shenanigans, but I just HAD to comment on this video w/ Trina, Nicki Minaj and Gucci by Yo Gotti for his song “5 Star Chick” (clean version of course). Dont judge me, I’m not perfect.

Please direct your attention to Gucci’s SUPER white teeth. Ole boy got veneers and is showing them off — why they whiter than the background he is rapping in front of though? That’s the only reason I am posting this video HAHAHA.

AND, his raps? Lyrical nignorance AT ITS BEST. I love lines such as “girls like buses, miss one next 15, one coming” and “I’m no longer hired, she said that I been fired” are just SO comical to me. He raps them with this odd charisma though that just pulls you in sadly.

I just found he used the “Girls like buses…” line again. Recently. HA!!

And now, he drops a new club/crossover song with USHER called “Spotlight” which features the line “a** fat as two basketballs / Gucci finna dunk em!” How could you not love this dude? Classic example of being successful for no reason but passion and perseverance!

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Did I tell you he just dropped 3 mixtapes? Yep. Guess what the 3 titles are, from his series “The Cold War”? Great Brrtain, Burrussia, and Gucci-merica. *dies*

Gotta love the hustle I tell you. “GUCCI! BURR!” <– those are his ad-libs callouts BTW.

Mashup: Miley Cyrus Meets Notorious B.I.G. = DEATH.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Oct 12, 09

ROFL omg, someone mashed up Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” with Biggie’s “Party & Bullshit” and I LOST my sh*t listening to this ROFL.

      No for real!

And what makes it even more annoying is her voice…lord. But it’s kinda hot at the same time?

Who finds the time to do these things? LOL! Ever since I heard her “sing” this song on the VH1 “Divas” I am just so befuddled as to why people love her. Oh well, clearly not her demographic.

Recession Testimonies: Coolio Performs For $3G’s…and Some Chicken.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Sep 1, 09

      Coolio

Somebody get their uncle, please! Coolio is performing having a book club having a rent party at some deli in Colorado for $3,000, a bucket of chicken and some Patron. And it’s not that low-brow, Church’s Chicken mess either! KFC OR HIGHER SNITCHES! This is not a hoax either folks.

The Deli Zone, on Ken Pratt Boulevard, has offered live music since last year. The restaurant’s new concert room comes with the advantages of a proper stage and sound system.

The Coolio show will be the venue’s biggest by far, and the rapper’s appearance will be the city’s first celebrity performance in recent memory.

“My hope is that Coolio is going to give us … some recognition,” said Deli Zone owner Jeremy King. “I’m hoping to get a cool reputation as a cool place to come see music.”

Longmont has Macias to thank for the engagement. He said he proposed the show to Coolio’s manager after noticing the rapper was scheduled to play at The Goose in Boulder the evening before. Coolio asked for $3,000, a bucket of chicken and a bottle of Petrón (he likes the Silver variety), and took the gig. (Source)

I need everyone to go to iTunes right now and buy a copy of “Gangsta’s Paradise”. Save a chicken, feed one of Coolio’s kids. And while you are at it and feeling charitable, go buy a Hammer song. “Pumps N’ The Bumps” if you’re feeling RANDY! I’m sure he could use that $.20! Remember, charity begins at home!

Chicken ‘N Beer…has Coolio been listening to Ludacris lately? LOL such a prophet, that Christopher Bridges is.

Elmo Gets the Ill Street Blues!

Written by FessaJ in Blogs on Aug 18, 09

      elmogang

If you don’t know who The Trackmasters are, they are the production team who brought the world such hip-hop classics as “Juicy”, “One More Chance”, “If I Ruled The World”…I mean, I’ll even call their work on “Gettin Jiggy With It” “classic” in light of this foolishness…

Elmo and friends are about to get a hip-hop remix. Production duo Poke and Tone are set to unveil an original, six-years-in-the-making children’s TV show, titled Kids Block.

“We used real writers, real rappers,” Tone said, “all the way to the point where the…puppeteers had to take hip-hop dance class to learn how to move the puppets authentically.” (Source)

When did working with Biggie make you a qualified educator? Trackmasters have lost their mind!  People breakdancing while mouthing puppets?  I can’t.  Why do black people need hip-hop puppets?  Was Gordon not enough?? Haha!

Kids don’t fully understand rap anyway.  I do not understand what your child could possibly learn from watching this show.  “The word of the day kids is S-H-A-N-K.  Shank.  Brought to you by the numbers 1-8-7.”

And 6 years in the making?  They could’ve better used that time to actually justify their continued existence in the music biz.  Perhaps they will offer Cookie Monster Ja Rule a part time job to supplement his last 6 years of lost income. R-E-A-D-A-B-O-O-K!

Music Video: Nelly – “Let It Go (Lil Mama)” Feat. Pharrell

Written by The IPS in Videos on Aug 17, 09

I think this is a nice visual look for a video but…definitely not changing the feeling that Nelly is straight up phoning it in this album around. This channels to me “Drop It Like It’s Hot” by Snoop on so many different levels….

Pharrell’s minimalist (for the most part) beat is paired with an equally sparse video treatment. Lots of literal interpretations from the song in the video (marching band, women, graphic references to the song, etc.). I think the Fat Katz worked with what they had though thematically, and this is the end result.

Nelly…I’m thinking that this song may gather some steam because of the summery (though summer’s almost over) and simple feel of the beat. Targeted for crossover no less, but I think Nelly has pretty much lost his core fans this time around. And no amount of albums with the St. Lunatics will ever get him him his-hop cred back, especially not after the tragedy that was “Party People” with Fergie.

      Live Performance: New Boyz – “You’re A Jerk” + Poll/Debate

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jul 21, 09

OK so there was some discussion among Twittizen’s yesterday about the New Boyz’ performance on 106 & Park yesterday.

I’m gonna go ahead and admit that this song has grown on me. But the debate is on whether or not it’s “ok” for them to wear skinny jeans. Rather, not OK per se, but is it “too much”?

We are all able to express our opinions and I want to see what people think.

One of my peeps said, “what’s next, them wearing skinny sweat pants?” ROFL! Folks think it’s geigh. Emasculating. I say it’s a trend, just like ripped jeans and wearing ish backwards was back in the day.

But I think at the point where I got to look at your cheeks while I am trying to lightweight enjoy your irreverent yet fun song is where I draw the line! I mean, dude’s A** was pretty much hanging all out. Booty dew!

What ya’ll think? Take the poll and express your thoughts in the comment section!

Are the skinny jeans "too much" or just a trend that will soon pass?

Video: DJ Webstar & Jim Jones – “Dancing On Me” Feat. Julez Santana

Written by The IPS in Videos on May 26, 09

See…I normally wouldn’t even POST this kind of tomfoolery but I had to just to comment on it.

DJ Webstar is the “Chicken Noodle Soup” dude. Trying to keep his career going and whatnot.

So he basically becomes Ron Browz’s play cousin by aping his look and sound and then throwing in a video with a Beyonce’ spoof and a lot of random dancing and “models”. Please stop and go back to “Harlem Shaking” it the subways w/ your leftover “Chicken Noodle Soup” money!?

What happened to the girl who sang the hook on that song anyway? She probably is somewhere singing backup for Lumidee. And there’s nothing even left to say about Jim Jones or Julez. They need to get real jobs or something.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air references FAIL too BTW!

      ROFL Go-Go-Gadget-Corner Charles Hamilton

Written by The IPS in Blogs on May 22, 09

For Hip Hop News & Entertainment at DimeWars.Com

Ya’ll this dude just STAY losing. Folks clown his attire, his cheesy obsession with Sonic the Hedgehog, his “boy you so zestfully clean + different” swag, and now…the fact that he just got chin-checked by a girl!

      WAMP TO THE WAMP!!

ROFL I think I watched this 20x and then I turned on that Beyonce’ video where she bust her a** on them stairs! My soul just checked out and waved goodbye to me on the way up yonder!

Charles Hamilton, please pull out a corner from that backpack and go sit in in!

Video: Flo-Rida – “Sugar” Feat. Wynter Gordon

Written by The IPS in Videos on May 21, 09

      ::blank stare::

I’d rather have a video for Wynter Gordon’s “Survelliance” — that is my JAM.

I just cannot get into Flo-Rida. He looks like one of my old, drunk uncles that somehow manages to stay in shape w/ that crack strength? I don’t know.

Eiffel 65!? SO NOT HIP HOP LOL.
