    • Lauryn Hill Does Her Best Real Life FFWD Impression On Live Performance Of “Doo Wop (That Thing)”

Written by Donovan in Blogs on Jun 16, 11

Really Lauryn? Really! In one of her first televised performances in a long time, Lauryn Hill performed a souped up-turbo version of her smash hit “Doo Wop (That Thing)” on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. I had to look at a couple different versions because I honestly thought it was in fast forward. Sadly, this is one of her better performances lately as it seems that “the most fertile woman in JamaicaAmerica” (her words not mine) has energy, stamina, and delivery despite the rapid fire pace of the arrangement and her Bozo the Clown muu-muu. Her vocals are still not as strong as they used to be, but I can faintly see why so many of us fell in love with her years ago and why it is so painful to see it come to this.

Thursday Tomfoolery: 50 Tyson Hits The Big Time With “Don’t Know How To Dougie”; I Hit The Floor.

Written by The IPS in Videos on Nov 18, 10

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pfI9YtnfI8&feature=player_embedded

Yes, you are seeing this. This is a real video. As in, someone signed this child, put him in the studio, and then put him in front of a REAL camera to shoot a video. I had to blink twice myself!

Special Olympics Theme 2011, because clearly he has no issues with looking a mess. A sad, sad mess.

BUT HOL’ UP!? How Antoine Dodson get on the BET Hip-Hop Awards and 50 Tyson didn’t!? I think 50 Tyson should drop a diss record LOL.

I don’t know what’s worse, the girls agreeing to be on this song with him, or their verses.

And he knows how to Diddi? Diddy? Diddle? Cat in the Fiddle!? That dance he is doing just looks like  the Water Sprinkler on a -0 degrees day in Canada, but….OK.

I just cannot and will not and shan’t and won’t ever and I’m signing off of life right after the end of this sentence!

The IPS Blogs: Someone Tell Master P.’s Daughter That It’s Too Little, Too Late….

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Oct 1, 10

I’m sorry…”Soldier Girl”? Fatigues? Baby girl, I’m all for following your dreams, but this lowbudget 90′s retread mess your father doesn’t even do anymore is not gonna work. Plus, your stage name is “Lil’ Miss Swaggar”? And then…and then…well, that’s enough. Cymphonique, let me introduce you to this little song called “Whip My Hair”. Come closer daughter:

Not saying that there isn’t enough room for everyone to pursue their dreams, but…Will Smith’s money is longer than Master P.’s “Make Em Say Unh” money will EVER be! And Willow Smith’s song is really very very catchy, and I’m a grown a** man LOL. Just offering a reality check out of love. *logs off*

Diddy Invented, And Still Needs, The Remix. “Hello Good Morning” Remix…

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jun 21, 10

I’ve come to the conclusion that Dirty Money is nothing but Diddy being bored and having money to blow. Because was this video really NECESSARY though?

Rick Ross does his bit just fine, but seriously, Nicki Minaj with that wig and these faces and that ODB line…and I just…yeah.

Diddy, I’m gonna stow-away on the last train to Paris in the luggage compartment because I refuse to pay for this!

Nicki Minaj went to the BACK of the crayon box for that wig color too AHHAHA. And I wonder what Dawn’s backup plan is — we know Que’s is singing background…for her…and Dirty Money…oy vey…

Katy Perry & Snoop Both Need Root Canals After This “California Gurls” Video

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jun 15, 10

As if it wasn’t hard enough to already take Snoop seriously, he goes and turns into the Wizard of White Girls with this “California Gurls” mess HAHA. If he only had a brain his creditability.

And didn’t Katy Perry just try to come at Lady GaGa for her “Alejandro” video!? OK, now Lady GaGa was wearing nun’s clothes and all that, but still, Katy is naked. On some clouds. Really? LOL! Pot, kettle, kettle, pot, have ya’ll met?

This “Candyland” meets “Alice in Wonderland” theme is just so over-the-top though, but hey, it is pop music. Pop music has always been a bit sugary and sweet, but just like candy, too much and it has consequences. The consequences of this song are that I can’t stand it after the first 2x listening.

Katy Perry actually has a decent voice if you strip away all of this, but this is one “good-girl-gone-bad” who is getting to the money and ain’t worried about nothing else. And we know Snoop don’t care — he just wants his check! He got it — this song is #1….

Classic Flashback: Mystic – “The Life”

Written by The IPS in Blogs,Videos on Jun 6, 10

Taking a study break to do a quick post or two…what happened to this chick Mystic!? “The Life” was a nice little ditty in 2001!

I remember actually that she sold the song to Budweiser for a commercial or something if my memory serves me correctly, and there was some controversy about that. Ha, if that was to happen NOW, they’d consider her a success. According to Wikipedia, she is still touring and was even nominated for a Grammy.

      #themoreyouknow

In terms of other female rappers that I think about randomly — what happened to Bahamadia, Nonchalant, Heather B., and of course, Lady of Rage? I heard she was actually working on new stuff a while back…they’d ALL prolly eat up Nicki Massage…

There’s A Lot Of Chinchilla In This “O Let’s Do It” Remix; Where’s PETA?

Written by The IPS in Videos on Apr 2, 10

Why couldn’t PETA come shut this shoot down? Kill a video shoot, save a rodent somewhere. Cause Rick Ross’ chinchilla (which I’m sure he pronounces ‘chimichanga’) alone is about 10 of them bad boys *no Diddy*.

Wacka Flocka Flame has been shot, given diseases by groupies, has racoon eye syndrome, looks like a lemur and STILL keeps on ticking. Trap music never dies! This song has been around forever, and I still have yet to hear what a Wacka Flocka Flame is, though I tried for 3 minutes one time to care enough to do some research and I just realized I had real bills to play.

You know it’s a mandown code 10 situation when Diddy sounds the best on a remix. Yeah. Day 26 got left at home to polish Diddy’s MTV Awards.

Ready to hit the Rex X up there? “O let’s do it!” 3-2-1…

Trina Is Only Half Of A “Million Dollar Girl” With No Keri Hilson…

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Mar 31, 10

Katrina Laverne isn’t moving me with this song, and her hype man is a sorry replacement for Keri Hilson. I wanted to reach through the screen with my digital sandman hook and snatch that dude off the stage.

Between Mo’Nique over there flapping her wings and getting her eagle on like Trina was really doing something and Trina kinda just walking around the stage off-beat, I was really done. Keri Hilson features so prominently on this track that I felt like half the time Trina was just lost without her. She looked great though — that lacefront was epic, you hear? She was standing on them thangs though — she got some nice legs.

I think the last Trina song I remember randomly all the time is “No Panties” because of the beat and because of Tweet & Missy. #random

Trina’s A “Million Dollar Girl” With The Help of Diddy & Keri

Written by The IPS in Videos on Mar 15, 10

Meh, I promise you I hadn’t heard this song until just now. Has this been out for a minute? Is radio playing this? It’s overly sugary for a hip-hop song, and Diddy’s even less believable than Trina on his verses (where is Trick Daddy or SOMEONE!?). Keri Hilson isn’t working hard at all either, but I still feel like she slightly overpowers this track.

I love how Trina is still rapping about the same things 5-10 years later. Hasn’t she been through hard times? Grown as an individual? LOL, cause pink Porsches and that costume jewelry…she needs more people. I think what was overly distracting were her and Keri’s hair choices. Now, Keri’s hair always looks like that, but Trina with that baby hair and them lacefront hairlines…

We gots to do better, hair-wise and lyrics-wise. Trina does look great though and I’m glad she’s kept her look together. But as far as rapping…she’s going to have to come a lot harder. This song feels dated, flat and seems like it doesn’t/won’t have much longevity…

Your “Rap” For The Day — Weezy’s “On Fire” And Trina’s Got An “Attitude”

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jan 7, 10

Chris Robinson directed this video and honestly, I just can’t bring myself to watch the whole thing LOL. Some of the green screen reminded me of “800 Degreez” Weezy back in the day. And the sparks coming off the chick? I don’t know Weezy…I don’t know. And I think the sample was flipped OK…but this song does nothing for me (It’s Amy Holland’s “She’s On Fire” from Scarface). His rock album Rebirth has been pushed back so many times I stopped checking. Not like I cared though.

LOL, does Trina realize that it’s 2010? I feel like…she needs to change it up a little bit. We in a recession. People ain’t got no jobs. You ain’t had a rap album in…a minute. So take back that rented Maybach from Rickay Rawse’s last shoot and go cover up them legs! Bye Felicia! LOL. Her outfits were kinda interesting but, I mean, she just sat there, moving her lips and looking like a moving breathing clothes hanger.

No for real though, she looks like Keyshia Cole in that leopard print get-up…LOL! Trina looks great, and despite the baby hair gel game lace-front game PROPER, she looks good. This song however, I forgot it by the time I finished writing this post. I hope she didn’t pay them girls too much to stand behind her…
