Faith Evans has a new album coming out this year, Incomparable, and in anticipation and to keep her name on people’s minds, she’s been doing a #FizzyFridays on Twitter, debuting new songs. She just dropped “Love And Devotion”, featuring MyGuyMars, a few minutes ago.
She could have kept this, honestly. Hopefully it’s a throwaway track and is not indicative of the songs that will be on her upcoming album. It feels unfinished, and isn’t really anything special at all. Boggling why artists feel like giving their fans subpar music is a “gift” to us. I’d rather wait for finished material.
In any case, the hook is annoying after being repeated a million times with a sing-songy 2nd line done in her lower register, and the bars by the rapper just seemed even more not needed.
Hard core fans might like this, but otherwise, it’s really musical floatsam and jetsam.
