    • “Ain’t No Doubt About” The Fact The Game Needs To Try Again…

Written by Donovan in Videos on Jul 5, 11

      WARNING: SOME IMAGES ARE NSFW!

Serially shelved rapper The Game has just had the director’s cut for the former single “Ain’t No Doubt About It” leak on the internet. The track sport’s a vintage-early 00′s production from Pharrell Williams and vocals on the chorus from Justin Timberlake.

The video itself is a black and white affair featuring nearly nude models, sailing on yachts and copious amounts of alcohol. Basically, this is a statement to us peasant listeners that we aren’t about that life and probably never will be, but I digress. This seems like it should have been the comeback Game needed to resuscitate his career, but it never seemed to pick up steam at radio. So why’d it flop?

My guess: the track itself is extremely paint-by-numbers and though it has great star power all of the vocals and Game’s lyrics are middling and dare I say, boring. I struggled to watch the entire 5-minute clip without doing other things. However, this seemed like it could have worked better if it was released at the top of summer since it has the sunny production that The Neptunes became rich and famous for. Now, all we have is a wasted opportunity for all involved. What do we think?

“Lady Marmalade” Has Never Been (Over) Sung So Well By A Single “Voice”…

Written by Donovan in Blogs on Jun 9, 11

Has anyone else been watching “The Voice”? I started watching it for the premise that it was all about how good someone is vocally, but honestly, after watching this clip from last night’s episode, it lead me to believe they changed the rules in one of the episodes I missed to root for the tone def and the pitchiest singers they could find.

In this clip Christina “VocalsRunnethOver” Aguilera and her backup singers team did a rendition of LaBelle’s classic “Lady Marmalade” and boy was it a howl fest. I almost wished Patti LaBelle would have showed up, showed out and kicked her heels in the direction of the contestants to show them how a true diva does it. Oh wait, she has done that before.

I really enjoyed Christina’s Back to Basics album but since then she has been stricken by the worst affliction of powerful singers: the tendency to over sing everything. I just want somebody to yell at her and say that part of the song doesn’t need a run… just relax. Now, I need to relax. I’m gonna go put on some Sade.

IPS Note: I haven’t caught a SINGLE episode of “The Voice” but that Beverly chick!? I’d buy that album in a heartbeat. I can already tell from this clip.

Hump Day Coonery: Monica’s “Everything To Me” Never Sounded So Bad…

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jan 26, 11

Feast your eyes and ears upon my man Izibode. Do I know him personally? No. Do I want to? ALMOST. ROFL. Because you cannot tell this dude that he isn’t doing his GOOD singing, do you hear me?

And to top it off, HE HAS 62 VIDEOS. As in, he actually recorded himself singing 62 different songs and posted them on Youtube.

I don’t know what it is — him picking up the microphone, or someone telling him to be quiet by hollering something I can’t understand…all I know is that Izibode has made my 2011 already. Reminds me of SopeHarmony’s “Buy U A Drank” cover, doesn’t it? Thanks to Marc for sending this in!

Jon B. Needs To Read My “Body Language” As I Look For The ‘X’ In My Window…

Written by The IPS in Videos on Oct 6, 10

      Jon.

      Jon B.

      NO!

This song w/ all this auto-tune and just…you looking past your expiration date…

Aside from the fact that you are calling your album Comfortable Swagg (strike 1), you are really trying to be “young”. That’s not what the people want. And you should always wear a hat (strike 2). Lastly, please just fire whoever shot/directed/produced this iChat video with that MS Paint font (strike 3). I was rooting for you, but this right here…

This. Right Here. Is Your. BAD!

It’s All Thumbs Down For Trey Songz’ “Bottoms Up”

Written by The IPS in Videos on Aug 23, 10

Hundreds of new fans, a TV show, tours, etc. and the best that Trey Songz could do musically for a new single for his new album Ready is “Bottoms Up”? My qualms aside from the song, this video is even less to go on than the music that underlies it. It’s like, cotton candy. Looks good, tastes good up to a point, but it’s nothing really but fancy sugar that we got fooled into thinking was something of substance LOL.

Nicki Minaj fails to even really justify her presence on this song even, though as eye candy in the video, she fits right in with the other “professional models” that Trey adorns this set with.

I just think that dude is really backing himself into a corner with this latest song that will be hard to conquer. He’s trading on the goodwill he garnered last album with a vapid, quickie nod to radio with this “Bottoms Up” mess. He could have really gone somewhere that would have launched him into even higher heights, but I fear that they stress of “fame” is getting to Trey for some reason…I wish him well though!

Ne-Yo Wants To Be Michael Jackson So Bad With “Beautiful Monster”, I Swear.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Aug 2, 10

This is like the Poor Man’s Tribute to Michael Jackson, featuring Ne-Yo and his lackluster gay club love song.

He just HAS to know this song is a fail, right?! Ne-Yo has written some great pieces in his life, so I just cannot believe he really thinks that we are falling for this “Beautiful Monster” and Libra Scale foolery.

And about him getting mad that people are calling him gay — you keep making songs like this and you aren’t helping your case bro. #justsaying

Honestly, How Many Of Ya’ll Want Marques Houston “Pullin’” On Your Hair? Don’t All Say Yes At Once…

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jul 23, 10

Marques Houston just looks old, tired, and over it and so is this song.

I think he spent all his budget on this Rick Ross feature so the video consisted of what we have here.

I don’t know what’s worse, the video chick with the extra long ponytail weave that he is supposedly yanking “sexily” on, or the fact that he’s trying to be sexy in the first place. Either way, both get a FAIL LOL.

He has a new album called Mattress Music coming out. I will be keeping my money — under my mattress. LOL cause the banks are failing, the economy is down, and I will NOT be spending my crackerjack dollars on Marques Houston whining into an auto-tune about some hair with Rick Ross giving a shoutout to Bonner Bros! Getouttahere!

The Only Thing “Automatic” About Teairra Mari Is Her Propensity To #Fail

Written by The IPS in Videos on Jun 3, 10

Teairra Mari keeps trying, but unfortunately, we are not buying. I’m a little late.com with this one, but I like looking at her. That’s about it.

And didn’t this song come out a while ago? Girl makes music that is so dated…her and her team need to sit down and have a Come to Jesus chat with her A&R’s and a spiritual counselor about her career options. This ain’t it!

And it’s not like she can’t sing. I bet she slays…something. But these stupid fruity flip-flop swag songs she keep putting out just make me want to hit mute and watch the hit parade instead of listen to it!

Her album is coming out soon? LOL.

I’m Going To Have A Come To Jesus Talk With The-Dream & Idris Elba…

The-Dream – “One In A Million” [Download (YOU BET NOT!)]

The-Nightmare is putting out a mixtape with DJ Drama & DJ Sense and all that typical jazz in advance of his Love King LP which is set to drop soon. The “Love King” remix with Luda dropped previously and is slated to be on the mixtape as well…but today, we get THIS gem.

OK, now you know what, I go hard on The-Dream. Smedium jackets aside, he’s made a name for himself. So obviously he’s doing something right. But this? Aaliyah my man? Like, you gotta sing a females song with that weak falsetto of yours?

Baby Girl just woke up out of her eternal slumber and I hope she haunts him as the vampire she played in that one movie. Akasha, “Queen of the Damned”. Yeah, I hope she bites his no-neck! I can’t. The hottest of hot messes right here, yep, ya know dis.

Dude, I know Idris Elba AKA King Driis had sponsored CJ Hilton’s “The Package” mixtape…but I didn’t know that he was trying to be a rapper. I thought he was just trying to DJ!

      Dude…

And why does he equate hip-hop with a Du-rag?! My man, you got too much money for this. But if this is what makes you happy…ok? I just laughed. And laughed. Coughed, and laughed some more. And 9th Wonder looks like Mos Def’s stand-in, don’t he?! Song is called “Hold On”.

Chris Brown thinks he’s a rapper too, is it an epidemic? Where is Sandman in real life to yank these dudes off the world stage LOL.

Mariah Can’t Even Sing This ABC Song “Obsessed” Live Anymore…FAIL.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Dec 17, 09

So Mariah Carey hit up “Lopez Tonight”, comedian George Lopez’s show, and you know what, I wasn’t going to post this (or watch it) because this song is about as old as Mariah’s black leotard she keeps wearing, but oh man, it was just so bad I had to point some things out.

      • The first 30 seconds of this performance sum up Mariah’s whole album cycle as of late. Off key, a mess and just a shame. She’s too much of a pro and diva and performer to sound like this! Soul stealing.
      • She looks like she sounds on this stage w/ this performance, a mess.
      • Mariah being such the star that she is and been in the game for so long, WHY is she even allowing herself to go out and get played like this? I mean, she’s fallen way down the scale from her former glory. Take a sick day.
      • The background singers seem like THEY aren’t even trying to cover up for her anymore. Sad day.
      • She’s never had any rhythm, but Jesus!
      • And lastly, that whistle note? SHE’S NOT DOING THAT LIVE! Know how I know? Despite the fact that they zoomed out on that part (not slick), you can see when they zoom back in at the 3:37-ish mark that her MOUTH is still on that whistle note part BUT the song has already moved on. FAIL!!!

I used to love her but I don’t love her no ‘mo. Like Keyshia Cole and Kanye, I CHANGED MY MIND. I cannot. Stop the rewriting of history books Mariah on your continued decline with this pop-schlock like “Obsessed” and these TERRIBLE live performances! This song is SO easy and 123 Paint By Numbers that she should NOT sound this bad singing it.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE LEGENDS GONE?!
