    • Lyfe Jennings Is Gonna Retire. Yes, You Read That Right.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Sep 28, 09

Lyfe Jennings, he of the “reformed prisoner story”, somber guitar wielding and nappy facial hair, has decided to “retire”.

The music business is the only industry where people retire after not really doing anything. Or they get “biopics” made about them and they are younger than 30. Seriously.

Honestly, Lyfe has had his moments of shine, though they are few and far between in the grand scheme of things. After his legal issues last year, I’m assuming that he just has restricted travel and is going on probation, yes? LOL. To his credit, he’s not “quitting” music but still…

Just take a “sabbatical” and don’t release a press release. Let us be surprised!

Peep the story after the jump, if you care…

Live Performances: Day26 – “Perfectly Blind”; Finale Was Not Final Enough!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 24, 09

OK, that Making the Band finale last night was SO anticlimactic that I am not even going to bother with a recap. But basically, them hoes is still broke up, Dawn chopped her hair and is still going solo, Day26 are still terrible live performers, and it’s really all about Diddy and his Twitter & T-shirts. It was OBVIOUS that them chicks can’t stand Dawn either.

Day26 performed a song from their album called “Perfectly Blind” and I could have rolled a boulder through what notes they were supposed to be singing and the ones that ACTUALLY came out! And don’t tell me they were out of breath, them mofos were sitting DOWN.

Even Willie sounded a mess, and I swear at one point even Aubrey was like “wtf is going on?!” That was a DREADFUL performance and if I had hinged my purchase of their album on that performance, it’d still be sitting at the store.

I vote no…all their performances were pretty lame. Don’t even get me started on “Can’t Sang Klang” (c) divaTy. Again, he has the stage presence of a naked mole rat. His smedium shirt alone was enough to make me retire for th evening.

Diddy’s doing ANOTHER girl group — I don’t think I will be tuning in anymore unless they all sound like Tamia and Whitney or something. I’m over it!

The End of Danity Kan’t: Diddy Drops The Hammer

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 17, 09

Wamp wamp, I knew that was coming. I mean seriously, I think folks forgot Aundrea was the catalyst for a lot of that mess about leaving in the FIRST place.

I like her, she seems like a nice girl, I really liked her voice in the beginning, but she’s not exactly the strongest pillar of a group. Nope, I don’t blame Diddy at all I would have done the same thing!

Dawn obviously is the much more talented person and that’s just how life goes sometimes. The strongest survive. Aundrea, clean up on Aisle 666!

Dawn, try not to be too excited that the cheese stands alone though…

As far as the rest of the episode, YAWN. Que got what he deserved. TIME OUT MOMOFOOKU! Please sit down and envision yourself broke and crying. Got it? Now act right my nikka!

I hate giving Diddy any more FREE promo because these MTB shows have become less about the bands and more about his “interludes” and on-screen announcements of pumping the Bad Boy roster and his Twitter. Annoying. I think they should just let the series go…of course there is a “big live finale!” next week.

Excuse me while I choke on my Ciroc & Lemonade!

I Used To Love H.E.R. — Now Christina Milian Is Ignant And I Don’t!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 1, 09

I thought it couldn’t get any worse than her falling over The-Dream’s thang into a bottle of peroxide for that terrible hair styling choice.

Or any worse than her seriously coming off as sexing for tracks since whatever producer she is with is the one that is making her music.

But now…she’s just IGNANT and she really needs to catch a clue and go make another movie. Too bad King Kang magazine just went belly up…what’s she gonna do now?! Catch this quote from Latina magazine though:

We had a chance to chat with singer Christina Milian about her relationship with singer/ songwriter The-Dream, her very public private life, and her upcoming single. Check out the highlights below:

On Photos that Surfaced of her Romantic Trip To Hawaii with The-Dream:
“I have no idea what you’re talking about! (Laughs) It must have been someone resembling me! (Giggles) Let’s just say we have a close working relationship.

On Her Private Relationships Playing Out in the Media:
“When it comes to relationships, I prefer to be very private about that part of my life. It’s just hard when you’re in the media and you’re in a place like L.A. where there’s paparazzi… or when you go to a place like Maui on vacation! A lot of people think I’m thirsty for attention, but I’m not looking for people to be publicizing those parts of my life!”

      On her next single:
“It’s a song called “Supersonic” and it’s a duet with The-Dream. This one is super sexy, like an ‘I got this, you got that’ kinda vibe. If you were to make comparisons, it would be like putting R.Kelly and Aaliyah together on a record.” (Source)

She’s not thirsty for attention. She’s thirstier than Karrine Steffans at a Sexpo featuring Mr. Marcus. GIRL BYE!

That’s just low class. Aaliyah & R. Kelly?! I CAN’T. Please send her back to working at El Pollo Loco. I’m done! Hit the jump for what I think about her.

Craigslist: Jobs, Booty Calls & Scott Storch’s House!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Nov 12, 08

      Scott Storch

Scott Storch’s money problems are legendary at this point, but even as he is still getting work (see 50 Cent’s latest single “Get Up”), his money woes are still mounting.

He needs to do a victory inauguration track for B. Obama, maybe the President-Elect will throw him a personal bailout package!

This article, particulary the last sentence, was funny, so I am going to copy the whole thing LOL.

Recent posting on Craigslist: ”$9,000,000 Celebrity Estate Home — Bank Sale (Palm Island — Miami Beach).” It’s the waterfront residence of Scott Storch, a 34-year-old record producer who is having money troubles.

”A forced bank sale,” says the posting. ”Bank is looking for an offer at $9 million — home was recently appraised for $16M . . .” There are six photos, with Lisa Gottesman of Keller Williams Realty in Fort Myers named as “seller contact.”

But Storch’s Miami lawyer Guy Spiegelman says neither Storch nor his business manager knows Gottesman or signed off on the listing. ”It’s not a bank sale,” Spiegelman says. “Storch is the owner of the property. The information on Craigslist is wrong and unauthorized.”

Gottesman says the Craigslist ad came from a real estate flier she prepared on

postlets.com for her client roster. She says she works for a ”group of 5,000 investors” and received a tip that the 70 Palm Ave. house is for sale. ‘I was given info from a source of mine, `if you can find a buyer for this property, they’d likely take this offer.’ That’s what someone told me.” So she researched the residence and created the online flier. ”I sent it to my database of people,” she says, explaining she hoped to receive a referral fee if the house sold. “Apparently, the info I was given was wrong.”

Storch, who has produced songs for Beyoncé, Eminem and 50 Cent (including his current hit, Get Up), bought the place in May ‘06 for $10.5 million. He was riding high back then, said to be worth $70 million. But he is now $511,839.16 in arrears in real estate taxes for ‘06 and ‘07, and owes $187,097.94 for ‘08. SunTrust Bank filed a foreclosure complaint in June. The matter is before Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Michael Genden.

Storch also has child support issues. He owed $27,031 for son Jalen, 2. Jason Setchen, attorney for Jalen’s mother DaleneDaniel, obtained a court-mandated income deduction order and garnished that money from Storch’s royalties at Sony BMG. Storch owes $7,500 for October, with another $7,500 due Nov. 15.

Storch also owes $22,100 for son Steven, 17. Storch was a no-show at an Oct. 17 deposition, and Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Scott Bernstein ordered him to appear in court on Nov. 20 to explain why he should not be held in contempt. Attorney Paul Leinoff, who represents Steven’s mom Vanessa Bellido, hired Allan Gorman of All-States Process Service to present Storch with Bernstein’s order.

Process server Joseph Torres got Storch at the Palm Island estate on Saturday — with the help of a female decoy. ”A cute girl,” Gorman says. She knocked at the door. Storch answered. Says Gorman: ”First he tried to say that it was his twin brother.” Right-o. (Source)

Twin brother? Really? Does he look like an albino turtle, too? What an unfortunate looking family then LOL.

      JD May Be Out!?

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Aug 21, 08

      JD

SOHH’s Gyant is reporting that JD’s reign of So So Deafness might be over LOL.

What does this mean for the talented Dondria whose video I JUST posted yesterday?

      Peep:

Could Jemaine Dupri’s time at Island Def Jam be officially over? According to my source who works for the company….it’s a wrap.

After several failed projects, which includes Janet Jackson’s Discipline, Mariah Carey’s E=MC2 and Johnta Austin’s permanently shelved project it looks like the powers that be have had enough and JD’s time as head of Island Records’ urban division has come to an end.

I am being told that JD’s termination papers were being drafted this afternoon.

Though me and JD have gone back and fourth a few times I’m sadden to have to report on this. I truly hope this isn’t true and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. To lose your restaurant and then your job in such a public matter is never a good thing. I wrestled with putting this out there, but I got a job to do.

Let’s hope this is all one big joke that someone is playing on me. While I have no proof that this is factual in any way my gut is telling me to run with it. (Source)

People like Jermaine Dupri end up somewhere with some ridiculous salary anyway. And if not, he’s still eating off Bow Wow and all the other 50-11 songs he produced, so I ain’t worried. Quite honestly, get the trolls out the castle ANYWAY.

That Mariah album is just SO terrible lyrically and that Janet album was so mishandled. Hit song makers rarely make hit label heads. When will these folks learn!? It’s just sad that it’s like a never ending cycle of lots of money being spent and nothing to really show for it. His restaurant also closed this week. Maybe he can go make tracks for Janet’s lingerie line’s commercials LOLOL. “Instructions” was my ish though!!

It hasn’t been a good week for hip-hop moguls LOL! Well, besides Diddy with his 50-11 shows on the air. Dame Dash is in foreclosure and owing millions too!
