    • I’m Trying To Get Behind Christina But I Can’t And This Is Why…

Written by The IPS in Blogs on May 7, 10

Christina Aguilera did her new song on Oprah and so of course, I’m sure she will get a huge bump and boost along the way (though the song has been getting some radio play anyway).

“Not Myself Tonight”, as “different” as Christina may think it is, is really not THAT different. But I can see that the one that hasn’t changed is her penchant for oversinging and hollering. Trying to do all that melisma over a dance beat? Ma’am, please take that white-girl power squall and go sing a ballad!

She’s going to have to adapt her voice with the quickness for the stripped down nature of dance/electro-esque vocals, because by the end of this performance, she was a screeching, hollering and slightly flat mess! I love you but no!

“OMG” Usher, This New Single Is Terrible Yo…

Written by The IPS in New Music & Reviews on Mar 9, 10

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Usher – “OMG” [Listen + Download]

I have officially stopped caring about Usher and his music from here on out. This is his official single to be serviced to international markets apparently, and the song is produced by and features will.i.am.

This is just…not good. This song is going to clear dancefloors and make people switch radio dials all over the world. I hope Usher didn’t cash all his “Confessions” checks and/or piss them away in alimony…seriously. We expect more from Usher, and this ain’t it!

He can keep this, “Papers” and all the other songs that have leaked as far as I am concerned.

Am I alone? LOL that’s fine if I am, truly. I’ll be saving my $10 for gas, groceries and gum.

Even If They’re $Free.99, I Usually Stay Away From Stars’ Wares. Here’s Why!

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Nov 24, 09

Diddy’s cologne & 50 Cent’s condoms aren’t on my Christmas list. Re-gifting game proper if someone gives them to me for Christmas!

Diddy has signed on with the Home Shopping Network to sell his colognes live on the air — I Am King and Unforgivable. They built him his own set. I hope he calls Tina Knowles for some tips and he brings mama Janice Combs on with him to help. I can only IMAGINE the hilarity that would ensue from that. Outside of the fact that you know, you need to SMELL the cologne to actually see if you like it AND if it works with your body chemistry. Did they invent Smell-O-Vision and no one told me, Diddy?

Oh and did I mention they are also creating a talk-show like set for him for his 2 hour show? Hmm, hopefully this is as close as we get to hearing Diddy breathe heavy into a mic outside of “Making The _____” on MTV. Tyra is enough! Thanks!

From hip hop to home shopping! Media and design mogul Diddy has just announced that he’s heading to HSN to debut his best-selling fragrances I Am King and Unforgivable on the network. WWD reports that the Home Shopping Network has already built Diddy his own special living-room-style set in St. Petersburg, Fla. from which he’ll host a two-hour talk-show-like program selling the scents live. Fragrance fans can tune in on Nov. 30 from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. to watch Diddy’s show. (Source)

And 50 Cent, he of the many side hustles that generally do better than his MAIN hustle, had a condom line that he was trying to promote. Unfortunately, the condoms weren’t viable. Did I mention he was trying to add his own version of Extenze TO the condom? No. Oh yeah. Well, there ya go. Better get that nut before your condom self-destructs (like his record sales) ROFL!

50 Cent admits he wanted to enhance users’ sexual pleasure at the same time by adding chemicals to the condom to boost men’s performance – but his idea failed because scientists couldn’t come up with a viable solution. (Source)

I’ll stick with my K-Mart layway. Thanks!

Jennifer Lopez’s Latest Video Not Ready To Come Out The “Oven” Yet

Written by The IPS in Videos on Nov 20, 09

      Overserved and undercooked!

This video really is just an abstract, staccato, writhing wigged out mess of a time.

I would have thought that since no one remotely cared for or seemed interested in this “buzz” single that they wouldn’t have shot a video for it. Pitbull’s usual vigor does nothing for this song either. I think we should actually turn out heads and not look and maybe this will go away?

I like “Louboutins” way more than I like this, but…that’s not saying much. It’s all relative people.

I see that Jennifer Lopez is going for aless dancey vibe this time around. This is definitely not a club track. The video was confusing, what with the repeating shot of Pitbull everytime the chorus came on.

Overall, I’m just….at a loss. I got nothing. *pours out likka for her remixes that were decent w/ Ja Rule days*

Cop That New Obsessed CD Single Yo! (NOT.)

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Aug 11, 09

Mariah Carey is putting out a single CD version of the quickly floundering “lead” single “Obsessed”.

What is this, 1999? “Honey” with Diddy “taking that” in the background? Ole girl has lost touch with reality if she thinks a) that song is the business and b) if she thinks people are going to buy a single version of that terrible song. I think Nick Cannon must be whispering in her ear about how hot she is and how she is still relevant and how he loves when she hits the high notes at home in the bed. Wamp.

It’s being sold exclusively at Wal-mart and came out today — and it also includes the Gucci Mane remix and the video.

From Biggie to Gucci Mane…help us lord. ODB just shimmy shimmy ya’d in his grave!

Who beside the stans are going to go cop this? Raise your hand, get your flogging now!

WTF Files: Lil’ Kim & Cyndi Lauper Try to Assassinate Nelson Mandela

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jul 21, 09

Kimberly Jones, the singer/rapper/dancer (I can’t tell from that dress, it looks like a cotton candy tutu) donned the stage with legend Cyndi Lauper for Nelson Mandela’s birthday/charity celebration in L.A. this past weekend.

No no and more no. Who in the programming of this concert decided to let Lil’ Kim sing?! I mean, Cyndi Lauper can BARELY sing this song herself, so what made them think adding slightly-tone-deaf Plastic Parts Barbie would make it any better?

It just makes Kim look foolish, Cyndi sound worse, and Nelson Mandela I’m sure was like “I’m getting too old for this sh*t”, a la Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon LOL.

If I turn 90+ and ya’ll break out Cassie and Mary J. Blige at my party, I’m breaking out the shotty and taking some mofo’s out! That ain’t a party, that’s a ROAST!

I applaud Kim for coming out of her comfort zone, but she took my eardrums out of their comfort zone, and for that, I must respectfully decline any further singing engagements on her behalf.

Trick, you ain’t Kang Latifah! Save it for the pro’s!

Live Performances: The-Dream Does “Walking On The Moon”

Written by The IPS in Blogs on May 28, 09

Jimmy Fallon probably laughs at all the bad performers while they are on stage.

I don’t know about ya’ll, but between The-Dream’s‘  smedium jacket and jeans, and his singing difficulty because of SAID jacket, I couldn’t stomach this. He needs to give Lady GaGa back her chocolate dancers, stop shopping at them couture stores thinking he can rock the small/medium gear and hit the vocal booth!

Live, NO. Studio, sure. But…no. Just no!

I mean, he did the moonwalk/robot thing so much, I feel like he spent all his time practicing that instead of practicing his live vocals. Wamp to the wamp!

The drummer was killing though, shouts to Rex Hardy, Jr.!

Do Not Ever Want Or Need: Brandy To Do Album With Ray J.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Oct 3, 08

      Brandy

Brandy is going to ruin her comeback by teaming with her walking STD of a brother Ray J. I just hope it turns out better than their cover of “Another Day In Paradise”:

Brandy announced today (Oct. 2) on New York radio station Hot 97 (WQHT) that she is planning on partnering with her brother Ray J for a collaborative album tentatively titled “R&B.” The title is a nod to the siblings’ respective first initials as well as their chosen style of music. (Source)

Don’t they know that this won’t work!? Unless they have some hot hot material, this is going to be Bow Wow/Omarion all over again, except without all the sexually ambiguous overtones. True story. Again, I reference their previous attempt which was a whole lot of FAIL if you ask me….

If Ray J even THINKS about picking up a microphone to “rap” I will castrate him with the ringtones receipts of “Sexy Can I”! Real talk.

“R&B” — you gotta admit, that’s so cheezy though it’s kind of cute. It DOES work, but honestly, it seems like one of those things that is GOOD IN THEORY, not in practice. Put out a mixtape on your Myspace or something. Thanks!

My President Is Black…My VP is a stripper

Written by MissOMyGoodnezz in Blogs on Sep 4, 08

Regardless of how you vote…VOTE. I however, will not be voting for anything having to do with Sarah “Ho Sit Down” Palin. While doing my daily blog rounds I stopped by Wifee’s World where Raider_Wifee discussed some very good points. Why in the world did John McCain choose Sarah Palin as his VP choice? She can’t run her home, God forbid she ever have to run the country. Check out some of the great points wifee came up with: Continue Reading…

Video: Donnie Klang – “Take You There” Feat. Diddy

Written by The IPS in Videos on Aug 11, 08

The only place Donnie is taking me or anyone else is to the back of the record store to the clearance rack!

This is a SHAME. Diddy releases his video, like, 2-3 weeks before the album comes out (September 2nd apparently), and this is the best he could do? LOL, is Donnie the new Cassie!? The sad part is, Channel 7′s beat (I think?) is kind of hot. In the hands of someone else, this might have been a decent dance song. But Donnie just effs it up to all hell. His rice-paper thin voice gets unbearable the more the song drones on.

And, how wrong is it that there is more Diddy than Donnie? Why so X-rated-ish?! When Diddy started smearing whipped cream all over that chick’s mouth, I kind of gagged. The faux-erotic camera shots and interactions just looked geigh and forced LOL. Donnie looks bored and lifeless throughout this whole video, and it is just…bad.

This sounds like an old/new 112 song. LOL, they should have given this song to Day 26109237. I don’t know…the lyrics to this song are terrible enough WITHOUT Donnie’s singing though. I can hear the director screaming at Donnie, “DONNIE! INTERACT WITH THE LADIES!” Oh my, just bad. I think this is the first and last we will see of Donnie Klang. KLANG! *smh*
