    • John Legend’s “Wake Up Everybody” Ironically Makes Want To Do The Total Opposite

Written by The IPS in Videos on Aug 19, 10

This song really has YET to grow on me, honestly. I see what they are trying to do and what John Legend is trying to accomplish with his new album, but overall, this song feels a little flat and lacks the LIFE and undercurrent of passion and sincerity that the original “Wake Up Everybody” has.

The video also doesn’t help to change that perception either. It’s a very casual, carefree, and easy affair. The song was from a place of struggle and hard times. This feels like a fashion show and a street party. Good in theory, but not very true to the song I feel like. Everyone sounds great though, as usual! Including Ms. Melanie Fiona. And it’s good to hear Common rapping!

Wake Up!, John Legend’s next album, is due in September.

Jazmine Sullivan, Cotton Spokeswoman; Common, Funk Spokesman.

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 23, 09

This girl could sing the phonebook and I would buy it, that’s on my mama! Jazmine Sullivan is trying to keep it moving career-wise with this drop.

She’s signed on to pitch cotton for their “Fabric of Our Lives” commercials — haven’t heard this theme song in a while, it’s good to see how she puts her spin on it. Now to decipher the lyrics…

Common is selling…something. OH a cologne! Has he stopped rapping now after the disappointment of “Universal Mind Control” and is just focusing on things that really pay for his hats, scarves and funky glasses?

Common – “Punch Drunk Love” Feat. Kanye West

The Neptunes produced this and I am loving the wordplay Com!

When is this stupid album coming out already, I can’t keep track of everyone’s changing release dates. I have a social life. Is there a Google App for this or something?

Expect slow updates…I’m bout to crank that vacation! However, I will be doing a podcast more than likely before Friday…so stay tuned!

Video: Common – “Universal Mind Control” Feat. Pharrell

Written by The IPS in Videos on Oct 6, 08

I love this! Is Pharrell wearing a robot helmet or is that CG!? LOL, whatever it is, Hype Williams made it look hot (LOL @ his shoutouts — “Hype TV”). I see Common is changing up his style and while I didn’t like this at first, it grew on me very quickly.

Music IS the universal mind control, I love the subject of this song.

And Common worked in his whole “Zune” partnership too…they not slick.

Anyway, WHEN DOES THIS ALBUM COME OUT!? Between this, “Paper Trail” and Q-Tip’s new joint, I am excited about hip-hop again.

Video: Common – “Announcement” Feat. Pharrell

Written by The IPS in Videos on Aug 27, 08

Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.

HOT! That drawing idea is crazy.

This song grew on me, and actually, so did “Universal Mind Control”. The video hasn’t been released yet, but XXL posted a link and I grabbed it. Get it while it’s hot…

Pharrell is starting to look…I don’t know, his age? Rough around the edges? LOL. Common looks like Diet Light Rick Ross with that beard. LOL, wtf is up with that…he going back to them “Electric Circus” days with that one…is that a good thing…or a bad thing!? As you know, Common went with Pharrell for pretty much this WHOLE album.

Video doesn’t quite GEL if you get what I mean, but it’s cool nonetheless. Those backup dancers look off, straight out of Breakin’ 3: Step Up 2 The Streets. I’ll take my “pass” card on them, thanks!

Common Moves Further Away From Music….LOL

Written by The IPS in Blogs on May 6, 08

      Common

Lonnie just got casted in another movie. I have to give it up to dude — he chooses his roles carefully and is making sure he has longevity in the film biz as music becomes an ever dwindling commodity among most people…smart. And, he’s actually REALLY good!

Rapper Common has signed on to co-star in “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” for Halcyon Pictures.Christian Bale and Sam Worthington have already boarded the project, which will be distributed by Warner Bros. domestically. Sony will release the film in most foreign territories.

Story centers on John Connor (Bale), now in his 30s, who leads what is left of the human race in a battle against the machines.  Common will play a freedom fighter and member of Connor’s inner circle. (Source)

My co-worker told me she had a movie that Common could act in. Girl, stop! He don’t need that Kim Kardashian/Ray J money. ROFL, he’s beyond that. Much to her chagrin she said. HAHAHA. Killing me!

I haven’t watched a Terminator movie since the early 90′s I think, so I really don’t care. But anything with Christian Bale is going to make money! Have you see the trailer for “The Dark Knight”?! Ay dios mio. Maggie Gyllenhal is still a butterface though, lawdhasmercy.

Common’s also supposed to be putting out a new CD soon, but something tells me it will be like that Electric Circus biznazz. No thanks!
