    • Loving Bruno Mars And This “Just The Way You Are” Video…

Written by The IPS in Videos on Sep 8, 10

What a fresh talent man. Bruno Mars on the solo tip is really making me stand up and pay attention. His ear for melodies is great, and they’re catchy without you feeling dirty — you know, like after you listen to a Katy Perry or Ke$ha song. Pop sensibilities with real substance so to speak. “Just The Way You Are” by itself had really grown on me — the lyrics are simple yet very poetic and beautiful. You rarely hear a song like this on Black radio I feel like (if they even play this song…). Bruno takes the theme in the video to the next level with a cool effect and playing and singing to a girl while being respectful and tasteful.

I liked it a lot basically.

I’m genuinely looking forward to his debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which is out October 5th. He even laced Cee-Lo on that “F**k You” joint, too. Nice!

Bruno Mars Remixes B.o.B.’s “Nothing On You” Live And Takes It Up A Notch Creatively

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jul 29, 10

OK, I kind of loved this. If his background singers had been a bit a bit tighter in the beginning, I would have wanted this as an MP3, cause that little remix in the beginning was hot!

I’ve also really been listening to his “The Other Side” song a lot too. Bruno Mars is growing on me.

Bruno Mars Has Many Sides And Is Waiting On “The Other Side” Until We Get It

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jul 17, 10

I like this song, though I wonder how Bruno Mars would sound singing this song on tour night after night cause it’s PRETTY high UP there. Cee-Lo’s voice sounds a bit more comfortable to me, and in the pocket, than Bruno’s. But I do like this song and the lyrics. I could have done without B.o.B., I don’t feel like he adds anything to the song that is worth living for.

The video seems to be more of a mini-documentary. And cheap LOL, considering this song is from his EP It’s Better If You Don’t Understand. Big budgets aren’t coming his way yet, and I think Atlantic is testing the water with his EP to see if people will bite and catch out outside of him being a hook singer. But he’s more than that — he has many sides and you can see that from this video too. He goes through a photoshoot and different looks, interactions, and emotions with his crew, piano, music, and alone. No Cee-Lo, but clearly this is all supposed to be about Bruno.

Travie McCoy Wants To Be A “Billionaire”, But I’m Sure He’s Closer Than Us!

Written by The IPS in Videos on May 7, 10

And in another Bruno Mars feature, we have “Billionaire”, which all the kids are loving. I’ve heard this and “Nothing on You” by B.o.B. played nonstop on the radio. Travie McCoy (who you may recognize from Gym Class Heroes) is releasing a solo album called Lazarus and while I’m not a particular fan, I figured one of you were so I posted it up.

He walks around giving away stuff, and rapping. And Bruno Mars sings. And then they have a party.

      LOL the end.

Bruno Mars Strikes Up The Band On His Own On “The Other Side”

Written by The IPS in New Music & Reviews on May 6, 10

Bruno Mars – “The Other Side” Feat. Cee-Lo & B.o.B. [Listen & Download]

Bruno Mars is EVERYWHERE lately — with about 2-3 hit songs on the charts right now. To capitalize upon this, he is releasing an EP on May 11th called It’s Better If You Don’t Understand, and this song is taken from that.

Bruno’s voice soars but it’s a shame that Cee-Lo is a featured artist on this joint — why, you ask? Well, because Cee-Lo’s voice soars more effortlessly than Bruno’s. Not that either of them sound bad on this joint, because I really like it (I’m a Cee-Lo stan though). Cee-Lo’s voice comes in smoother and in the pocket to me. B.o.B.’s verse could have been left off for my money.

What do you think of Bruno Mars’ first crack at going solo-dolo? I think it’s a good little ditty, and perfect for Cee-Lo (wondering if he had a hand in it?).
