    • Ashanti Tries To “Shine” On “The Biggest Loser”

Written by The IPS in Blogs on May 9, 10

I’m sorry, Ashanti performing an intimate concert for me is NOT my idea of a good time! LOL.

She took to the (very small) stage on the recent episode of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” to do an inspirational chat and performance of the song “Shine” for the contestants. She looked great, but all that “emotion” threw me, as well as the singing (as usual). I swear one lady kept looking at her (and the camera panned to her face a couple times) and was either thinking “how cool!” or “how dreadful!” LOL. I promise you.

Does Ashanti have anything new coming out? This seems random. “Shine” was from her 2008 album The Declaration, but I applaud Ashanti and her managers and agents for getting her some work!

Ashanti Channels Diana Ross & Sings “Home” From The Wiz

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Jun 2, 09

Ashanti is doing an off-Broadway (or on?) production of The Wiz and it features her, Dawnn Lewis, Tichina Arnold and more. Of course, she plays Dorothy. Check her out singing “Home” from the seminal black broadway/film.

My thoughts? Well, Ashanti is no Stephanie Mills but she does a decent job more along the lines of Diana Ross’ version. Ashanti is not a bad singer but her voice just lacks character and grit to me. Her in this role…I don’t know. I lol’ed at how the Musical Director said her voice was clear and whatnot. She’s no Toni Braxton, but she’s no Kathleen Battle either. Lizz Wright does a really good cover of “Home” too, if you can find it.

She’s also blaming the economy for her lackluster sales of The Declaration. Wamp!

Are We Surprised? Irv Gotti Finally Drops The Dead Weight

Written by The IPS in Blogs on May 8, 09

Look, people are trying to get to teh moneys these days [waddup Fresh!] and with Ashanti’s last album not doing all that “Good Good” in the sales department, I guess Irv Gotti realized that VH1 money isn’t always going to be there AND he might have to cash out Debbie Deb, so it’s time to get his house in order.

He’s dropping Ashanti. Finally. I am still wondering what took him so long. She’s already been relegated to casino performances and showing up at benefits.

In the past I’d say she should just call it a wrap and go let Nelly take care of her, but he ain’t doing too hot in the sales area either. Though both of them have that movie money to fall back on.

      Wamp wamp and moving on…

      Video: Ashanti – “Good Good”

Written by MissOMyGoodnezz in Videos on Jul 17, 08

I am probably the furthest from an Ashanti fan. In fact I’m about thiiiiiiiiiiiis close to hating her lol. I must say though, this is a cute little song for the summer and an even cuter video. Ashanti looks cute, she’s got the side burns tamed and her voice actually sounds really nice. Someone has been hitting up their vocal coach for extra lessons and I.AM.NOT.MAD! Even her boo Nelly is looking good. Note to Ashanti: “Don’t leave your man arould me” lol.

Anyway, all in all I’m loving the 70′s pin-up theme, the lyrics are all in fun and I can tolerate the video. Now, if my man catches me cleaning the house in some of those get ups, he’s not leaving the house either!!! All my ladies know what I’m saying lol. This video gets the MISSOMYGOODNEZZ stamp of approval!

Ashanti Performs on 106 & Park

Written by The IPS in Videos on May 21, 08

Ashanti looked like the Hair-Scare Bear and sounded like a hyena with all that “emotion” she was putting out over that track (which was tooooo loud). I couldn’t take her performance — I didn’t know if she was giving the diva hand or if she was doing sign language (“please buy my record!”). Too much going on. She was dancing, bopping, landing planes…then she ran out of breath…I was done at that point.

Estelle also performed before a bewildered audience as well — though you could BARELY hear her track while she performed, too. Most folks had a look like “UMM WHERE IS KEYSHIA COLE ‘SENT FROM HEAVEN’?!” on their faces while Estelle performed “American Boy”. It was decent though. Not her best….

The show was a MESS though — more after the jump.

Ashanti Looks Older Than Her Years…

Written by The IPS in Blogs,Celeb Snapshots on Apr 24, 08

      Ashanti Patti LaBelle

Ashanti’s profile shot from her performance at R&B Live in NY looks tragic. She looks OLD. I mean, really. She’s giving me Ms. Patti LaBelle in this picture! Please check the analysis! Maybe Nelly’s pimp juice isn’t having the desired effect as of late. I think it might just be the angles and the makeup, but homechick better be careful. Them crow’s feet are CAREER KILLERS LOL. Cassie is DREADING the day, trust me.

      Usher & Ashanti Album Covers

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Apr 18, 08

      Usher Ashanti cover

Usher’s “Here I Stand” album has been moved up to a May 27th, 2008. Ashanti’s album “The Declaration” is out June 3rd, 2008.

Usher looks…the same, minus points for the lumberjack beard. I think the license plate on the car alludes to his son’s birthday and also the fact that it’s his (or hers, REALLY) 5th child. Tameka’s children must have been so happy that they could tell all their friends that “USHER IS MY DADDY, B*TCHES!!!” I mean, I know I would.

Ashanti is doing her best Beyahweh impression ROFL. I am not mad at them legs though, I AM NOT MAD! However, I really don’t care about this album.

Usher FTW! Oh yeah, and “Moving Moutains” is his next single, and the clip has already been shot. It apparently feeds out of the end of the “Love In This Club” video…

Promo Shots: Ashanti, Solange, Dani (ANTM)

Written by The IPS in Celeb Snapshots on Apr 6, 08

      Solange

Solorange looks like a Ringling Bros. tent performer, but she does look kind of good here! Chalk it up to the creole genes!

      Ashanti Promo 2Ashanti

Ashanti is getting her “Idlewild” background dancer on in the first picture…who’s idea was that? Is she in a diner? LOL. I’m not sure what’s going on here. In that second picture…there is SO MUCH HAIR. Like, she told Shi-Shi “give me your extra packs of hair girl, I’m gonna get BANANAS!” LOL, it kind of looks like she got out of the shower and was like, “oh hair camera!” What’s up with that nail polish too….I can’t…

      Dani 1 Dani 2

      Dani Promo 1

Dani(elle) is that you!? She look possessed in that first picture…Sweet Minty Jesus. Those eyes… ROFL I love how in the rest of these pics, all I can think is “IZ YOU HUNGRAY?” She looks like a starving African child in that 2nd picture…not a good look. She looks decent though, has she been working?
