I love Lianne La Havas, and I’m a little late to the party, but I’m definitely glad I came.
Her excellent album Is Your Love Big Enough? is one that you definitely need to pick up. She was nominated for a Mercury Prize for her debut album, and hailing from the UK, she’s once again another example of how the Brits are still crushing us in recent memory on the Soul music tip.
“Age” is an album cut from Is Your Love Big Enough? and there’s no reverse-cougarism going on here — or is there? My interpretation of this video and song is almost that of a 2012 “We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off” — Lianne’s dated younger men, but the older men just know how to love you a different way, and it’s not even sexual. It’s a beautiful song and video from a similarly beautiful singer and artist.
