Brandy Is So 90′s With The Visuals For “Wildest Dreams”

Far and away my favorite record on Two Eleven, Brandy gives the fans what they want in the form of a video for her latest single “Wildest Dreams”. Is it just me or is this video channeling 90′s style, looking like a 2012 “I Wanna Be Down” presentation? I don’t say that in a bad way, but in a good way.

I love this song, and while I think the “live performance” treatment was a cool concept — Brandy seems a little bit disconnected from the vocal to me. There are the “warm” moments where she’s just in the frame and it’s in black & white, but yet and still, I didn’t connect with her via moving pictures this time around. However, the style of the video felt VERY 90′s to me. I instantly got nostalgic for first album Brandy, and it made me realize that if you’ve been a Brandy fan for awhile, that’s STILL around! And still in top vocal form. At the end of the day, though the album may suffer from some lackluster songs and the videos haven’t been as dynamic as I would have liked, Brandy’s voice still reigns above most on the charts these days, and that is definitely something that I used to think wasn’t possible anymore — not even in my wildest dreams.
