My boo-in-the-head and one of my hands down favorite artists of the last 5 years or so Ledisi has finally blessed us with fantastic new music. Her new album, yet untitled, is set to drop this summer, but she has released “Pieces of Me” as the first single. It will be available on April 5th on iTunes.
“Pieces of Me” is an updated sound for Ledisi, yet it still tracks close to her same vocal style. At times, her voice is reminiscent of the Gospel great and legendary member of The Clark Sisters family, Karen Clark-Sheard. Ledisi’s voice soars over the simple backing track, which compliments the vocal and also gives the lyrics room to breathe as well. It’s a nice introduction to the next phase of Ledisi’s consistent yet evolving career, and I can’t wait to see what she hits with next!
