Since I’m super behind and crazy busy, I’m just going to group all these into one big post and let you sort them out as we go along, alright? LOL!
Hit the jump for the vids and breakdowns!
Timbaland turns in his latest single from Shock Value 2, which is actually one of my guilty pleasure songs. This song GREW on me, and while I think the lyrics are a little sketchy in their totality, Katy Perry actually turns in a decent vocal on this track. Timbaland once again feels superfluous to his own song and even video though, is it just me?
The video’s theme is about some burglars who cross paths, and then I kind of got lost. LOL. Katy Perry’s shimmying and Timbaland’s extra large rain jacket inside to cover up his body just threw me ALL the way off. What ya’ll think of this video?
Her shimmy is almost as bad as Lady GaGa’s in the “Video Phone” remix video with Beyonce’. I cannot!
This is taken from the page of Ne-Yo, Chapter 3 — “How We Share MJ Influences”. LOL, Jason DeRulo is an extremely average looking and sounding artist, but I will say he does have some catchy, decently written little pop joints. This one is the next after “Whatcha Say” and if I don’t watch the video, I actually could like the song. The video is just run-of-the-mill what you’d expect from an artist like this. It gets a bit much at the end w/ the guitars and the whinyness of his voice in the upper range clashes a lot, but overall, I give it a B-/solid B. It all feels a bit amateurish, but I think he could do some things in the future with some more fine-tuning and tightening.
RJD2 is a hip-hop producer and DJ, and he has a new album out yesterday called The Colossus on his own label, and this song “Let There Be Horns” is the first single and video from this newest project of his.
I love this track, and the video is pure hilarity. Do you see all the jokes? “Let There Be Horns” features a bull…with horns. And then of course, at the end, he is a proverbial “bull in a china shop”, get it? This is good stuff right here folks ROFL! You’ve probably heard an RJD2 track before and just didn’t know it…
This new Keri Hilson video for her song “Change Me” is pretty inconsequential. At this point, Keri’s had what feels like a thousand videos, and I know of one of own friends who personally went out and bought this record. Of course, that not a scientific sample by any means, but you know.
This is probably my least favorite track on this album though, and Akon? I cannot. I don’t even like the ad-libs in the beginning of the song that Keri is doing. The video was directed by Sarah Chatfield, however, it feels very Melina-ish, another favorite director of mine. Keri just feels there and while I get the imagery, the song doesn’t even drive my desire enough to really care.

I love that Timbaland song! It doesn’t have to be a guilty pleasure. There are actually a few decent songs on that CD, alas it hasn’t exactly resonated with *anyone* as he’s just north of 102k copies sold.
