    • Classic Flashback: “The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite)” – Quincy Jones + JD To Do Remake?

Written by The IPS in Blogs,Videos on Feb 19, 10

Quincy Jones’ records have been a favorite of mine forever. This record right here ranks HIGH up on that list of faves, #1 being Tamia’s “You Put A Move On My Heart”.

“The Secret Garden” featured Al B. Sure, James Ingram, El Debarge and Barry White on a track that only Quincy could make. Their vocals and the song made this an instant classic and was featured on many an 80′s 90′s slow-jam “get the panties” mixtape LOL. Al B. Sure did some of his best sanging on this song.

Despite Quincy’s major faux pas with that “We Are The World” remake, he’s still one of the best producers of our time.

Sadly, and with a heavy heart, I report to you that Jermaine Dupri is doing a remake of this classic song with Usher, Robin Thicke, Tyrese and Trey Songz. Yep, I tell no lies.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!

The only real vocalist in that group is Tyrese. Everyone else can sit down and have a seat! I MEAN THAT FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY SOUL. I hope Jermaine Dupri’s studio catches on fire before they can ever put this out! LEAVE THE CLASSIC ALONE! Quincy Jones couldn’t remake his own damn song if that’s proof enough Jermaine!

Edit: Apparently Usher already recorded a version by himself recently (snippet)? Don’t know if the new version will be the same or a whole different one… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOWLyrQU7D8

Secret Garden came out in the 90′s. I remember since I was in 7th/8th grade when it dropped. LOL

Jermaine Dupri please sit down and stop. That is a mofo classic. Ugh…

Damn i luv this song! Remake!?! Leery ’bout this but excited at the same time. At first I thought the title said JT to do remake as in Justin Tim. My babies Ursh and Rob can sing! Trey on the other hand….Maybe Justin should hv been included but thats waaay too many egos on one song. We’ll see…

the snip of the remake has been out for a WHILE now. i like it so far.

I can trust Ush, Tyrese and Robin on this, but NOT Trey. his voice/vocal ability just sucks compared to the rest of them. as long as there’s no appearence from Black Ty i’m cool.

Before I even got to your comment, I said to myself that Tyrese was the only real singer. Usher has never been a singer, IMHO, he’s an entertainer. I love Robin, I do, but his voice is too weak for this. He could probably pull of El’s part. Trey? I love him too, but seriously? Ever since he just started selling plain old vulgar sex, I’m not feeling him. Now if it was the “Just Gotta Make It/Gotta Go” Trey, I could take it. I’m going to need for all these “musicians” to get original (i.e. make your own beats, write your own songs) and not fail at recreating masterpieces. True artwork should be left alone and not duplicated. Emulate, but don’t just duplicate.

Wow, I was giving a slight side-eye with Robin and Usher but Trey Songz, really?? NO!!!! He should never be asked or allowed to remake anything, ever! And Usher has been pretty whack as of late too… Tyrese is the only one that can flat foot SANG so… yeah.
