Lupe Fiasco and his label Atlantic have kissed and made up, and his new album Lasers has a penciled in release date of March 8, 2011. You know how dates change though.
His new song “The Show Goes On” is pretty decent! The Kane Beatz produced track moves pretty fluidly, as does Lupe’s flow on top of it. The hook isn’t as engaging as his verses are, but Lupe makes good music.
I have to say however, in an age where B.o.B. has shot to fame…I think that Lupe has a little bit of competition. Him and B.o.B. make similar music at Atlantic in my opinion. Thoughts?

I kinda look at it as Talib Kweli is to Lupe Fiasco as Lupe Fiasco is to B.o.B.
Tho, B.o.B. has had more commercial success…I dunno, there’s room for all, but I think this is Lupe’s last contractual album with Atlantic. Wasn’t he planning on quitting after?

@YTMatt, naw, I hear Lupe and I have never thought Talib, personally. Talib has been around longer of course. B.o.B. has had more pop/commercial success, yes, but in terms of their voices, subject matter, look, etc. I think they are way similar.
And yes, Lupe was going to quit, but who knows these days LOL.

I guess I meant that more in the sense of neither one of them focus their music on the more typified things that many commerically successful rappers focus on (lil wayne for example).

Very nice. I always love a little bit of Lupe in my life, lol. And I think that there’s enough room for B.o.B. and Lupe. I still consider Lupe to be more underground though. Also, love the reference to Float On by Modest Mouse with the chorus. Absolutely beautiful.
