Fat Joe – “Haha (Slow Down)” Feat. Young Jeezy [Download]

Fat Joe’s last album “J.O.S.E. 2″ was largely ignored I feel like by a lot of fans, industry heads and press — I can’t even remember a song/single from that joint, though I listen to so much music, it’s ridiculous. However, this new leaked joint from his next album on deck The Darkside (which has no release date from what I can see) is actually kind of thumping. Joe gets more acerbic and witty than I’ve heard him in a long time. The track is sparse and harkens back to that old rap boom-bap, kinda like 50 Cent’s “I Get Money” but better. Even Jeezy fits well into this musical landscape. Thoughts?

Erykah Badu – “Window Seat” [Download]

I had typed up this nice lil blurb about how I like this song a lot then Erykah Badu TWEETED me last night, so I’m just going to insert that here and keep it moving ROFL! I will say that she leaked this song herself via Twitter. Erykah is letting us know who is in control of her musical destiny — her!

Asia Bryant – “Can’t Help It” [Download] [Twitter]

Heard about this song via Twitter this morning and was instantly impressed! Ms. Bryant has a light, airy pop voice but you can tell that underneath lies some R&B/soul grit and depth. This song sounds like Vanessa Carlton meets Ne-Yo meets a whole new sound actually. This joint is prime for crossover though, and the lyrics are pretty dang good. I look forward to hearing more from this singer/songwriter out of at Atlanta who is persevering through the ups and downs of the music industry.
