Mixtapes: B. Slade’s (AKA Tonex’) “A Brilliant Catastrophe” Is Musically Creative And Lyrically Potent

Wow, you know, this may not be for everyone. The church folks don’t love Brian Slade (formerly known as Tonex’) anymore due to his name change and branching off into more “alternative” waters, and regular folks may not understand the church things he is talking about and where he is coming from with his lyrical catharsis (see “Master of Zenlake”), but let me tell you this — if you love music, harmonies, rhythms, discordance, musical cacophony, high notes, range, power, runs, etc. — this is the one download you don’t want to NOT get!

Anthony Williams/Tonex’/B. Slade — whatever he may be going by, he is TALENTED. This guy is crazy skilled with his ear and his voice. And you can just enjoy the varied musical dishes that he is serving up throughout this project.

It swings from spoken word to dance to pop to just…everything. No matter what you may think of his morals, views, or otherwise, at the end of the day I love good INTERESTING music. This is a sonic field trip from start to finish and I’m all aboard for the ride.
