My friend told me about the studio session in which Mary wrote this song. He played keys. HILARIOUS. He said Mary told him to play something, and was like, “Yeah, I like the color of that! It’s like that Donny Hathaway color! That’s it the color of that is dope!” He said he had NO IDEA what she meant, but whatever, it’s Mary J. Blige!
She needs to do a blues/R&B/soul album. Leave all these synthesizers behind and get her some B3′s, Rhodes, drums, stand up bass, violins here and there and….man…that’d be crazy.
