So the Sisters With Voices are a little bit rusty, but they weren’t half as bad as Mikki Howard was the other day. I CANNOT.
I fear that Coko after all these years has to work really hard to sound good still when she is not in the stratosphere belting, however, Coko rusty in the low notes is still better than 3/5th’s of the people who have record deals in this day and age. Just an observation though.
As far as LeeLee, I don’t ever remember her singing leads? Is this a new arrangement they are working out to make everyone happy and to keep Coko from singing leads on more of the “risque” songs since she’s all up and through the Gospel industry?
Just wondering!
They also performed “Weak” and I can’t find video of that, but you can always head over to BET and watch the full episode.

Oooh what was that hot mess of a song Miki Howard sang that night? Beer for Breakfast? what kind of Alcohol Anonymous shit is that? I know Monique was like WTF?!?
Anywhoo, SWV did a good job with both songs, I don’t think LeeLee is vocally stable enough to be doing lead vocals, I would’ve prefered to have heard Taj sing that verse instead. Happy to see SWV back working together again…

I have loved SWV since high school. The ladies are a little thicker than they were in ’94 but they sound good. Leelee surprised me. Her singing voice doesn’t match up to the way she speaks. Thank God.

Obviously we’ll have to wait for their UnSung or Behind the Music to know, but if you’ve heard the story of one girl group break-up you know ‘em all and I think though the chief ending reason was Coko’s decision to go solo, let’s not fake like LeLee never got any shine. Bet’cha the deal is now, she get’s some shine.
I ain’t mad at her, either. She won’t be leading er’ song, but I respect her gangsta.
Coko just has a distinctive voice; how do you match up to that?? You don’t. You fade into the background (no Neyo).

This is my first time hearing LeeLee sing live. They didn’t sound bad at all and Coko was giving it to me!

Wow…I enjoyed that performance; the fact that “If Only You Knew” is my favorite Patti LaBelle song probably has something to do with it. I agree that LeLe is not strong enough vocally to carry a lead but she did a decent job! CoCo can still belt out them notes though…gone girl!!
