I have a feeling I might be late.com to this one, but I randomly discovered this dude this past evening while farting around the interwebs. His name is Corneille and apparently, he’s signed to Universal Motown here in the States, though he’s Canadian.
Though he’s Canadian, he was born in Germany to Rwandan parents, and he also speaks/sings French. Talented! His music is influenced by soul/funk, and this is taken from an album that was released in 2007 called The Birth of Corneillius.
I’m digging it though, majorly. Real soulful, simple, but he has a great vocal. Real heartfelt too. Check out another video after the jump for a new favorite of mine called “Too Much of Everything”:
What do you think? Share your thoughts, I’m liking this dude. One of my other favorite artists from Canada is Jully Black. Her last album was BANANAS. Of course the lovely Ms. Melanie Fiona…

yes, my dear you're late LOL. this was out beginning of last year or end of the year before. he is really good though. I love both songs.
I love your support of Black Canadian talent by the way. I'm sure Melanie, Deborah, Tamia, Jully, Kardinal, Corneille and even Drake (even if you are indifferent to him) appriciates it.
Yours turly,
A Black Canadian who's a lover of Canadian urban music :)
P.S. Keep up the good work on your site, too! Loved ya since "A Hot Mess" (no haven't forgotten that site, LOL)

Yess, I've been addicted since I his French songs but the english album is definitely more soulful…he's growing as an artist. You get to appreciate his lyrics even more when know of his horibble experience during the Rwandan genocide. And he takes his listeners through that journey in his music.
