    • Shakira Struts And Wayne Is Tough In “Give It Up To Me” Video

Written by The IPS in Videos on Nov 16, 09

ROFL @ this video looking like a super expensive Target commercial…let me find out…

In “Give It Up To Me”, Shakira takes help from Timbaland, which I am gonna say is her first mistake. Then Wayne is featured, which is her second mistake. Then she’s dressed like Lady Liberty, which is 3rd mistake.

      Three strikes, YOU’RE OUT!

This is just a wamp-worthy song from the beginning. Timbaland is SO hit or miss with his pop stuff. Shakira’s not been impressing me this time around. I think though that this beat alone is nice, but as a SONG w/ these lyrics and this hook, it’s just not great.

I will give her MAJOR points for looking so so fine and dancing with all them chocolate sistas. Best part of this otherwise largely unneeded video if you ask me…video AND song actually.

      But she looks good!

The only thing i like about this, is the dancing. Apart from that it gets a fail from me. Also i’m so tired of seeing Wayne’s face everywhere, looking like a premature featus smh, all up in the facial area.

Fail Fail Fail oh and nobody wants to go to Waynes world you will just end up a baby momma. The dance part was the best part.everything else looks kinda cheap

I actually like the song, but the video is pretty bad. The dance sequences are pretty good, but remind me of Beyonce/Lady GaGa. The rest of the video just looks plain cheap. This is definitely a recession-grade video. There wasn’t even a point to the special effects. They were just there and they weren’t even good. SMH

      4. November 16, 2009 The IPS

Yeah I gotta admit, I did feel traces of Beyonce’ in there. I hate to say it though.

      5. November 16, 2009 twizzle

Umm . . . them dance parts were hot!

She looks like Bey WHENEVER she dances—because she actually LOOKS like Bey. I always thought she looked like a 70/30 cross between Bey and Mariah. I could barely tell them apart in the video they did together (Beautiful Liar).

I don’t hate the song. Not crazy about it either. Sounds like a leftover track from Nelly’s “Loose” sessions.

Shame on them for lettin’ Pookie and ‘Nem do the special effects, and allowing that horrid Statue of Liberty foolishness to make the final cut.

It is the end of days.

      6. November 16, 2009 Smooth007

I tried watching this for about 30 secs and I just couldnt…the whole thing just doesn’t work for me…sorry Wayne…and Shakira…just cuz you are capable doesn’t mean you should always say yes.

Now her non-R&B/hip-hop video “Did it Again” has got to be some of THE BEST choreo I have ever seen in a video…in a LONG time. It’s challenging…passionate and symbolic of her album them…She-WOLF. It came out a few weeks ago I think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqrHeHudupI

      7. November 17, 2009 Ratchet

It’s a good video outside of that shitty CGI and Lil’ Cockroach being in it. Nothing spectacular.

        “Did It Again” >>>>>

      8. November 17, 2009 SK

i’m gonna have to say her first mistake above all those is continuing to sing in english

      9. November 17, 2009 erica

The lady liberty scene reminds me of that family guy episode where Chris records over peters porn w/ the statue of liberty…let’s just drink until she looks hot.

        Video is just random

      10. November 17, 2009 ASmith

Did I peep how all the sistas are the SAME shade? Yes I did.

Did I enjoy that choreography? Yes I did.

Am I wondering if Hype directed this? Yes I am.

AND…am I also lost on the Statue of Liberty reference? Yes I am.

That’s all we have for today, on “Questions and Answers with A.Smith” tune in next week as we try to figure out the last time Weezy was in a video by himself…

      11. November 17, 2009 Aida

I literally sighed while watching this..

You can’t tell me vocally Shakira ain’t the latina/arabic Rihanna..

      12. November 17, 2009 Matt

Why is it that she sings with an accent? Celine Dion didn’t sound french when she released her first album. That crap band Tokio Hotel doesn’t sound German when they sing.

I’ve always felt her voice only made sense in spanish, and her spanish albums are amazing. Everything since has been a complete mess, only really salvagable because she can move her body oh-so-well.

        This is bad bad bad.
