Rising star Priscilla Renea takes matters into her own hands on this rousing dance/pop single of hers, “Dollhouse”. What I like about her are her lyrics. They really flow quite effortlessly and she tells stories inside of them. All the music of hers I’ve heard so far, I’ve connected with this same principle.
I love the treatment as well. The video is fitting and yet not too literal. I love that she gets bigger at the end — anyone ever read “Gulliver’s Travels”? That’s what this video reminded me of. The male lead in the story is of course, too busy for her and she starts to fight back, culminating into the ultimate kiss-off. While this song definitely has a bit of a dance feel, her lyrics are definitely on the soulful side.
