Alicia, Alicia, Alicia…
With each album she gets further and further away from how she started. Which isn’t a bad thing, just an observation. She is looking great great great these days…
Anyway on to the video.
This video is a much grander treatment than this song deserves LOL. Her climbing mountains and what not was a bit over the top, but only because this song is so musically boring — musically, it doesn’t reach any plateaus, so why is she all high up on the mountain?
I get the sentiment behind the lyrics and the literal interpretation of things disappearing, etc. Her face throughout much of this clip just looks vacant and emotionless until she starts writhing and cavorting around her piano. It’s just so overdone and underwhelming.
However, Alicia is definitely a talented artist and I’m sure there will be some choice joints on her album if she doesn’t get too left of field on us w/ collabs and “experimentation” and “growth” — you know how these late career artists tend to do.

As I’ve stated before, I stan for Alicia, but this just won’t do. This song just doesn’t go any place. I have to admit it is growing on me, but it should and could be much better. The video doesn’t help either. But I am excited to hear what she has done with the new album.

As I’ve stated before…in its context, without considering past singles from Alicia…I rather like the song.

@KBJr, I can see what you mean. I do. But even after a couple of spins, it gets boring to me. I do like the lyrics though.

She will NEVER get my money for an album again. Loved her first two releases, but I felt really cheated on that last one.
This song feels like a completely lateral move compared to “No One.” Damn near identical if you ask me.
Is it just me, or did they clean up the vocals on this song since it hit the net a few months ago? I distinctly remember her being slightly off key during the first verse, on the word “fair.” Maybe I’m wrong.
She’s nice to look at, but, honestly, when anything of hers that’s post “Diary” comes on the radio, I quickly change the station. She’s one of the most overrated artists on the scene right now.
Don’t even get me started on this hot mess of a video . . . Is she on Mars? Replace your management now, before it’s too late!

I love your comments BTW. YOU GO IN ROFL.
Now, I liked some songs from her last album! They were a bit grown and sexy but “Lesson Learned” is one of my faves and “I Need You” too. I like the thought of Alicia, sometimes her execution just ain’t on point LOL
