I actually had the chance to go see Kid Sister live a couple of weeks ago and I didn’t and now I am sad. I remembered when this song hit the internets but for whatever reason I never got around to copping it — now I’m upset! I’m loving this! The instrumental is crazy, and so is this crazy graffiti paint video scene stuff, but it’s different and kind of hot.
She does seem a bit Nicki Minaj-ish (not that she is anyone to compare to per se) with the moves and the eyes, but what’s not to say she wasn’t doing that BEFORE Nicki? I remember “Pro Nails” with Kanye, and I wasn’t jamming that too tough, but this song I can get with. It’s crazy how “hip-hop” is classified these days…because this song definitely stretches those limits in some ways.
I’ve been a Cool Kids fan for a minute, but I didn’t even know they had a video for “Knocked Down” until today. I’d downloaded their Gone Fishing mixtape a while back and this song was one of my faves. I love their almost no-frills style of production and their laid back rhymes. If you don’t have that mixtape, you should go cop it. I need to bust mine out again…
DC faves The Uncalled 4 Band, or UCB for short, are finally getting some recognition outside the DMV with their go-go stylings thanks to Wale. Wale has featured them extensively on his records and live performances, though I’d heard about them in passing a while ago. They take their swag and add it to Beyonce’ and then go-go it out on their new video for “Pat Your Weave”. What ya’ll think of this?

Girlfriend was looking like Lady Gaga and Kelis in the “Pro Nails” video, and now this? We need to talk. Nicki told me to tell you that she’ll get in that ass if that wig is returned with all that blonde sh*t at the bottom.
This whole “euro-club-trancey” thing that’s going on right now is interesting . . . I heard one of Black Eyed Peas songs on Power 106 a few weeks ago, and had to check the dial because the song just didn’t sound “urban” at all.
Reminds me of a cross between “La Bouche” and early Britney Spears . . . and that’s NOT a good thing.
