    • Angie Stone’s New Video For “I Ain’t Hearin’ You” Fails To Make Us Listen

Written by The IPS in Videos on Nov 17, 09

Angie Stone is really trying to push this new look and image on us, but I won’t be bowled over easily due to the sheer missteps of this video!

I love Angie, and I have to say that this song grew on me after a couple of spins. The beat is infectious! It’s that good ole’ song you’d play at a family reunion while someone grills and whatnot. But this video is an affront to body shapers and lace fronts everywhere.

I applaud Angie for trying to do it up, but homegirl looks uncomfortable. The treatment is decent though, and actress Terri J. Vaughan makes a cameo as the “girl in the club”. Everything is kind of tragic though, from the extras to Angie vivid hand dances to the clothes she has on to the lacefront.

It makes you wonder what happened to that soul sista Angie Stone that churned out joints like “Brotha” and “I Wish I Didn’t Miss You”. Wasn’t she rocking the afro/natural joint?

I am interested to see how her fans respond to this video…I’ve seen some tweet already but I’m not going to go there…

Angie’s new album comes out on the 24th and her new album is streaming today on her Myspace. I’ll be checking that out for free first, how about you? LOL.

This is so boring. I’ve been so disappointed by AS because I don’t think she’s had anything nearly as dynamic as Wish I Didn’t Miss You since 2001 when that album was released. She just got boring.

I appreciate her style in this video, but vocally for someone who can sing as great as she can, this song is fail.

The hand dancing is a bit much. Go to 0:56 and watch her dance! I swear, she made this video for deaf people.

IPS, you are being waaay to kind. I agree the song ain’t too bad, but the video? MY GOD, THE VIDEO . . .

The Jazz Hands (DEAD @ “she made this video for deaf people), the whack makeup (making her look all “strong” in the face), and the club looking like it’s REALLY her cousin Aquanetta’s basement are all “elements of concern.”

My biggest issue is the fact that Angie has lost 2 lbs, and thinks it’s ok to rock catsuits in videos.

        I mean, c’mon, Angie—YOU DAMN NEAR 50!!!!

I’d love to see this woman transition into a more mature sound, because she’s got some serious pipes. For now, she’s taking the Mariah route, and that road leads to nowhere!

Woah @ her bondage belt @ 0:22!! Its holding on for dear life!! She can barely move, if she sneezes it’s a wrap! I can’t get past her tight shirt & belly belt combo wardrobe she got going on in this video, is she going through a midlife crises or something? Oh I just can’t, not today….

Angie is Angie, she looked great! So she changed her hair and got on an outfit ya’ll don’t like….let her do her thang…everyone can change styles, and she’s a heavy woman, let her wear what she want’s too, no one is perfect, if she was thin, you’d be talking about that! And who stipulates how old you have to be to dress a certain way, she’s not in lingerie or booty shorts quit picking her apart…..
