Indie artist Chanj has dropped a mixtape free for us to enjoy and at a whopping 17 tracks, it’s plenty for you to dig into, listen and critique. It’s titled “…in the name of YOU” and it comes on the heels of his Showtime At The Apollo acclaim and before his debut album drops.

Overall, the mixtape is a pretty solid affair, really though, it’s an album. Though he does use some of the music beds from some of the hottest joints out (Jay-Z’s “Thank You”, Drake’s “Successful” and Alicia Keys “Doesn’t Mean Anything” to name a few), Chanj puts his own spin on them, writes new lyrics, features guest artists/rappers and more.

Standout cuts are the previously posted song “Nevermind” featuring Drake, “2Kool” and “Superhero”. There are a few misses here and there, but overall, it’s definitely a slam dunk. It’s good listening to throw on the iPod if you are on the train or bus, real talk.

Chanj is an amazing vocalist, and I personally prefer him to some of the other acts out right now. His voice is reminiscent of Jesse Powell if anyone remembers him though — his range is incredible. The featured acts are no slouches themselves either!

The download is a whopping 200mb+ file size, but that’s because it’s 17 tracks and also a video for the song “Of You & I” which is also on the mixtape. Check the tracklist, and a note from Chanj after the jump!
