Brian McKnight – “What I’ve Been Waiting For” (Download)
Brian McKnight is back with this self-produced song from his upcoming album “Evolution of a Man”, which comes out this fall.
It’s a classic Brian McKnight sounding song. It’s not bad, and it’s a bit more memorable than some of the other material I’ve heard from him lately. I know he’s been heavy into having his sons help him as well with his music affairs, and after his stint in reality TV, he’s returning to music full steam. Album will be released on indie/major E1 Music, formerly Koch. What ya’ll think of this song? Brian has a heavy catalogue, but will his new music stand the test?

Koch was always the graveyard for musicians. They’ll put everything out with the long tail mentality.
He’s a bit tired. He might have been something 10 years ago when Superhero sold north of 2.5 mil, but 2 years later he couldn’t even break a million, and his last proper album with WBR couldn’t break 300k.
He’s definitely a “manage your expectations and spend accordingly” type of artist, but the chances of him selling north of a million again are slim to none.
I suppose it’ll probably always be enough to keep him relevant enough to make 3 times the amount that I do, and he doesn’t seem to spend ostentatiously, so he’s probably in an all right place.
I met him when he was doing the WBR stuff, he’s a really nice guy, very friendly and approachable…next door neighbor type.
