Angie Stone – “I Ain’t Hearin’ U” [Download]
One of my favorite soul singers, Angie Stone, is back!
She’s coming out uptempo straight out of the gate with the cut “I Ain’t Hearin’ U”, a breezy musically-lighthearted joint anchored by an old 70′s bounce and some gentle harmonies courtesy of Angie.
The track itself is what gives this song life, but musically song-wise, I would have liked some variation — a key change, a sonically different bridge, something. It gets a little repetitive and is a bit too straight-forward for my tastes, especially coming Angie.
That being said, her new album Unexpected is dropping November 24th. Let’s hope it’s a return to musical form for Angie, because while her last record In Love & War was slightly enjoyable, overall it wasn’t cohesive enough for multiple spins — except the excellent duet with Chyno, “Half A Chance”. This album was concocted during the pain of her father unexpectedly passing, hence the title.

LOVE Ms. Stone…unfortunately I feel like she lost her touch on “Stone Love” and it continued with “Love & War” (except for the GREAT “Happy Being Me” cut)…I agree, I hope this album is a return to form, because if she makes another album like the classic “Mahogany Soul”…I might DIE. lol

Ever since I PAID for the opportunity to meet miss Stone after a concert, and then found out you had to pay even more to take a picture with her- us being po’students we kindly asked her if we could take a picture nonetheless-mind you we were the first in line and the line was short yet so it wouldn’t be a biggie- and just laughed it off and said ; no,you have to pay more. And we said but we’re poor students and we love you’ and she just basically did the *Kanye shrugs* and said ‘well,that’s unfortunate’ ..and that was that! oeeeeeh I was super pissed! And this happened in Amsterdam–>which means euros and euro>$ so she made some GOOD money off of us anyway..BISH!
but I digress. So after that I never really liked her anymore so I don’t like this song as well! *Kanye shrug*
