    • New Music: Alicia Keys – “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart”

Alicia Keys – “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” [Listen + Download]

Alicia Keys’ latest single that is going to be released next has leaked thanks to the good folks over at UHTN and it’s called “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” and it’s produced by Jeff Bhasker, who’s done work with Kanye, Jay, John Legend and Goapele.

This song has a decidedly 80’s feel to it — sounds like a Bangles-meets-Pat Benatar-meets-Prince meets-Bryan Adams feel to it. Seems like Alicia is moving away from the Motown-soul channeling she was doing last album to a more pop crossover feel this time around…

I’m still trying to find my soul after someone on here called her “Snorelicia” though, OH GOD, I was done! This song is nice though, and it definitely feels like Alicia is trying to build up her adult contemporary chops. Time will tell.

Do you think her sales are going to be affected to any measurable amount from the black people that know of the drama with her and Swizz Beatz and Mashonda?

Europeans could care less bout her and Swizzy.
They probably don’t even know who he is. So her sales won’t be affected over here lol

WELL I’M NOT BUYING THAT SUCKA.

“Why is Alicia singing about sleeping with a broken heart? Isn’t she sleeping with a married man right now? This must’ve been written from the perspective of his wife.”

      4. October 29, 2009 Mr. Mason

I hear from a friend who said her album is being pushed back because her first single was a flop, and then the friend went on to say “that’s what happens when you suck married dick” and I lost it…LMAO Alicia better get swizz in the lab and crack out some bangers cuz this ish right here aint it…wake me when it’s over.

      5. October 29, 2009 Smooth007

I’m mad somebody called the wifey “Snorelicia” lol. Alicia is definitely crossing over into contemporary land…I wanna follow her but so far this material has not surpassed her other great singles. This is still a nice cut though.

      6. October 29, 2009 kelis

Obviously, the…song should be called “Try Sleeping With a Married Man”…. sorry I just had to say it but yeah.. Again not feeling the single! It’s just okay. She is definitely not bringing it this time. And the black blogs are bigger than people think. She may think that by avoiding it that it will go away but that’s so obviously not true, and it just makes her look more guilty. I’m not buying the album.

      7. October 29, 2009 Mike

LOL..Snorelicia…I can’t!! I thought my sister was bad with the Alicia Fleas!!! She named her that after the Swizz Beatz Scandal!!

      8. October 29, 2009 linP

Alicia!!! what happened to you!? didn’t like the last cd and not looking like i’m gonna like this one either. i loved her first two!

      9. October 29, 2009 john Anderson

i actually like this song, the last one was a snooze fest. This is good adult contemporary.

      10. October 30, 2009 desireechick

Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if she has more success than the last album because it’s more pop. Sometimes dem YT folks eat anything up. LOL. But no seriously, if black listeners want to think she’s “betraying” or whatever to her old sound, so be it. They are most likely the same people who are also listening to just as much nonsense R&B music, and can’t even be bothered to support a Amel Larrieux or a Raphael Saddiq, so whatever. I’m with you Alicia! At least you’re not as dull as my “ex-best friend” Mariah “Whisper, belt, whistle, REPEAT” Carey and her old as self singing music made for 20-year-olds. #aliciakeysisstillcool

        *ass, i mean, sorry

      12. October 30, 2009 Coco Bea

Surprisingly I like this song but I still won’t be buying her album. For some reason, I think her album isn’t going to sale as good as her other albums has done if this single doesn’t take off but we’ll see.

“Obviously, the…song should be called “Try Sleeping With a Married Man”

        *flatlines*

      14. October 30, 2009 HEALTHY BLACK QUEENS

I LOVE this song. I listened to it so many times since yesterday. 80s music was the best decade, so it’s nice having it back again.

Well, I applaud her efforts … but this is not her. I know she doesn’t want to box herself into doing one type of music … but that’s what makes the greats … finding your lane and sticking to it.

lmao at TwAnnette Marie Jones’s comment about try sleeping with a married man and im dying at the ’snorelicia’ reference. This website lifts me up when Im down. I need to leave the UK quicktime. And as for this song- blah. Give me her 1st 2 albums and its on.
