    • New Music: Alicia Keys, Toni Braxton & LL Cool J

      Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys – “Doesn’t Mean Anything” [Listen & Download]

Alicia Keys seems to be aiming for a…hmm…what’s the word I am looking for…an even blander version of her “I Am…” sound. While this song isn’t bad, it doesn’t nearly strike me as single worthy. While her singing has improved greatly over the years, and her songs tend to have a tendency of sneaking up on you, I am trying to not make a snap judgement about “Doesn’t Mean Anything”. It is the first single from her 4th quarter album which is still untitled at this point. I’ve pretty much loved all of Alicia’s records though, so I’m going to give this a moment to grow on me.

Oh and Alicia went on the Today show this morning to talk about her new song/album and Lil’ Mama’s random stage-stealing “performance”. HA @ her saying she should have felt it from her seat…*dies and cranks that with Minnie Riperton*

Toni Braxton – “Yesterday” [Listen + Download]

I love Toni Braxton’s voice on this, however — it sounds like a Leona Lewis throwaway to me. She put out the above referenced single “Pulse” a while back which I thought was so dry and tepid (did I even post that?!). Previously before that, a song called “Get Loose” leaked, which I absolutely loved. I’m a Toni fan, and her vocals sound great and have preserved well, as opposed to a Mariah Carey or a Whitney Houston. Toni has a great “story” as well, as she’s been battling some form of heart disease if memory serves me correctly.

Toni’s an original diva, and I’m glad to see that some of them are still alive and kicking. A new album from her is very welcomed, as I still bump Libra. “Take This Ring” was so much heat to me. I’m still angry that she is PRESENTING an award at VH1′s “Divas” program tomorrow night, as opposed to singing. UGH.

      LL Cool J – “N.C.I.S.”

This is obviously from LL’s new TV show, “N.C.I.S.: Los Angeles”.While I really am not caring too much about what he’s rapping about, I thought the beat was hot. And I’m sure some lady readers will enjoy looking at him lick his lips or something. LOL. I have never watched the original show, much less won’t be watching the spinoff.

Not feelin the AK song. But I love Toni's new song. She sounds great. I have been waiting on a new album from her.

That Alicia will have to grow on me—-but it probably won't. "No One," in my opinion, will go down in history as one of the greatest bamboozles of all time. I can't believe people fell for that piping hot mess of a song. Just cuz you fine don't mean you get a pass. Fool me twice . . .

Not a big fan of the new Toni single, but I'll definitely be checking out the album. She brings a lil' somethin' for everybody, so I'm sure it'll be worth a listen.

LL isn't worth the electricity expenditure necessary to display characters on a screen in refererence to ANYTHING he's done musically in the past 7 or 8 years. And I can't believe they didn't INSIST on that Negro wearin' a hat . . . I swear his dome grows a few millimeters in EVERY direction every couple years . . .

      4. September 17, 2009 IVORY'S INTELLECT

The Alicia song is boring. It sounds VERY bland, almost like she couldn't bothered. She put more oomph into Jay-Z's Empire State of Mind than her own song.

Poor Toni got Beyonce's Broken Hearted Girl part 2, the part we didn't need to hear. These so called producers are terrible to recycle their music like this.

I am usually riding shotgun with Alicia … but no … I can't even back seat drive this … I'll walk.

I am NOT feeling this Alicia Keys song at all!! I'm sorry but she has falling off to me!

Toni – I'm not feeling that ish either…

LL Please sit down, you're not even fine anymore, it looks like he's done something to his face. Botox???
