Jennifer Lopez – “Louboutins” [Listen + Download]
Jennifer Lopez AKA J. Lo AKA Lola (whatever she’s decided upon these days) is back with the proper first single from her up coming CD love? which is due out next. She’s also performing Sunday at the American Music Awards, which are set to air on ABC (and I will be live-blogging of course).
“Louboutins” (it took me forever to spell that right) is produced by, who else, Tricky and The-Dream. There are some Dream vocals on this track in the backgrounds, and it’s pretty unmemorable outside of the hook, which J. Lo repeats ad nauseum. That catchy “I’m throwing on my Louboutins” line is ear-wormingly catchy, ugh. I’m gonna hate I ever pressed play on this. It’s no “If You Had My Love” but she can maybe crack the Top 50 with this one…

Apparently, this track was written for Brandy, but ended up with J.Lo.
If that’s not the seventh sign of the Apocalypse, I don’t know what is!
I’m all for being fashion forward, but I had no idea what this broad was singing about. If I have to look up the title of your song to figure out what the f**k you’re singing about, you’ve made my life too complicated, and I’m moving on to the next chick that’s cute, but really ain’t all that talented vocally (I see you Amerie!)
When I found out that “Christian Louboutins” are shoes, I was *DEAD*. Really? Your “comeback” single is about a shoe?
I want nothing to do with this. It is not 1986, and you are not Run DMC. Get a clue!

This is an epic fail…. I can’t and I won’t, J.LO you’ve gotta come harder than that.

J-Lo please go back into the non-singing hole you crawled out of along with Ashanti & ‘nem because this ain’t it!!!

@twizzle the gays know what Louboutins are, and even Oprah talks about them quite often. They’re the red-souled shoes.
She’s even wearing them in the pic above. They’re just as well known as Jimmy Choo’s, and the brand is just as well known as Gucci or Prada, and people throw that name in songs all the time!
The only reason this song works is because they found a really catchy line and decided to repeat it.
I swear, it must have been the easiest song for her to sing. Just sing the line once and repeat it x20.
I wish she’d go back to romantic comedies.

J Lo needs to crawl back into the crypt with Skeletor….FAIL.

Initially, I thought she was sayin’ “Louis Vuittons” and changed the spelling for legal reasons or something . . .
I really feel like she owes me some sort of compensation for the sheer amount of confusion she caused with this song title and the hook.
We are in a f**king recession, and Lola is singing about $500 shoes. I guess I’m just really out of touch because this single both angered and confused me, and a song is not supposed to do that to a person.
I’m throwing on some flip flops and walkin’ to the mailbox to see if my unemployment check is here yet. THAT’S what I’m gonna do . . .

It wouldn’t be that bad if the chorus was more than the simple repetition of that one line. Her music has gotten progressively worse over the years. I miss the “If You Had My Love” and “Waiting for Tonight” Jenny. And if she can’t make any acceptable music, she should just do more movies.
