Listen to Adrianne Archie’s “Strong”
Adrianne Archie is an indie Gospel artist that I’ve been following for a long time. I was actually turned on to her first by a friend of mine via her debut album He That Hath An Ear, Let Him Hear (or HTHAELHH for short, ha!). She’s a quirky songstress, with an engaging voice, interesting stories and even more varied and soulful musical backdrops. She doesn’t disappoint on this new album if you are looking for something different and new in your Gospel listening. Tired of Gospel radio? Definitely check this out! Ya’ll know I love Gospel too and am always looking for new and interesting but GOOD music.
More after the jump!
The album runs the gamut in terms of styles — it’s almost fair to compare her to a Kelis kind of artist, but for the Gospel market. She hits up some techno, funk, soul, neo-soul, and more. One thing is for certain — she carves out her own lane, musically and lyrically.
The best thing about Adrianne however are her lyrics. She has a very conversational tone and real-life view that she puts into her songs, and the cohesiveness of it all is brought together even more by the production being all helmed by one person — her longtime musical collaborator Joel Goodwin.
The two craft a melange of styles and blended genres that it can be dizzying at first listen. Her vocal production at times can be a distracting, but it’s also part of her charm. She handles much of the vocal work personally, and it makes the album feel more intimate as well.
My favorites are the cut “Strong”, the crazy sounding “Go Pop” with its charming “raps” and autotune LOL, the menacing sounding yet positive “So I Know” with its kick and clavs, and “HSMS” with its breezy BPM’s and meandering bass line.
While her music may be an acquired taste if your Gospel tastes tend to be more traditional-leaning, check out Adrianne’s music if you are feeling the itch for something new. You may just enjoy it!

I absolutely love Adrianne Archie!! I have been following her since HTHAELHH and I love HSMS. What an evolution! The beats are crazy, the lyrical fusion of the Word and LIFE make it so relatable. I cannot say enough about this album. Good review. Check it out, folks!! A must have for the Christian walk! I am encouraged to live HSMS and love the Lord with all my heart, soul, mind and strength!

I was not familiar with this artist until now, but I’ve listened to the song about 5 times already. I love it.
Can’t wait to hear more from her.
