So Rihanna (or the interns working in the “Social Media” cubicle at Def Jam) hit all the social networking sites and the internet with the word that her new album is going to release November 23rd. There’s video floating around of her doing a photoshoot overseas for her new album cover and art, but…
There’s no music, no singles, no video…just a lot of paparazzi shots.
Well, in any case, photogs around the world are taking out 2nd mortgages on their houses in anticipation of all the money they think they gonna make for snapping Rih.
Enter the Chris Brown “getting over it” song, or nipple slip, or something else. Cause Rihanna is all flash and controversy and light on music these days, but with the right pen and digital treatments, she can turn out some decent dance jams. We will see what happens…
Is that Black Friday? I need to check, though I don’t think it is…but I’m sure they will put that joint on sale during that week and that will boost her numbers…

lol just when I was starting to be completely over her.
I’m kind of looking forward to this. Rihanna’s not the best singer, no, but she’s gotten a lot better and has a pretty good pop voice. Her “Run This Town’ performances were just out of whack because she’s been out of practice for so long. I do hope she cleans up her look though…the blonde highlight swag is making me question life itself.

but the 23rd is a Monday – i thought Whitney was the only one who released cds on a Monday. *lol*
ashamed to admit that i’m somewhat excited too. i just hope this one doesn’t have a damn near three year run like GGGB did.

LOL.
My personal speculation: it will sell well, generally hitting the mark that record execs expect, but no mind-blowing, “the industry has recovered” type of sales. Of course black friday helps, but unless she drops another “Umbrella” I don’t see that happening. You can count on her to ham it up from now on, of course, but I think this one will either level GGGB or fall a bit short.
