Man, The Roots make anyone and everyone sound good. For real, I want an MP3 of this live performance just for their spin on it…ugh, they are so nasty with it! And Black Thought hopped on the 2nd verse and spit it better and with more life than Wale did.
Actually, I had a little issue with Wale for this performance. He needs to get his stage performance game up, because I was thoroughly unimpressed with him during this set. His eyes were down, not facing the camera, seemed lifeless…maybe we will chalk it up to him being tired doing all this promo for his new album. However, never let a guest MC outshine you!
Even the singer (Weensey, that sings on the record I think?) was into it more than he was. “Ugly girls be quiet…pretty girls clap clap like this!” That’s my part. Homeboy was singing though too, I was not even mad at him LOL.
I’m just now cracking this Wale Attention Deficit album right now, so look forward to a review. He’s nice with the worldplay so far and his music cracks…it’s in stores now BTW.
So did he dedicate this performance to Solange? Let me quit.

The art of controlling/running a stage and hyping the crowd has been lost on the new generation of rappers. Seriously. They can’t rock a music video let alone a stage.

Right! This performance was NOT hype at all, even on the parts where I kind of expected it to be. I’m sure the go-go-izing of it maybe contributed to that overly laid back vibe, but still…give me SOMETHING!
