I swear it’s not Mariah Day here at Tha Feedback LOL! I just had been waiting for that review, so there you have it.
Anyway, Mariah dominated the Today Show stage today, singing a bunch of songs, which have already hit the web. Crazy, gotta love the Internet.
Up above, you’ll see Mariah Carey performing her latest single “I Want To Know What Love Is”, her version of the classic Foreigner song. I honestly can’t throw much shade on this performance — she sounds decent for what goes for what decent Mariah sounds like these days. I’m not too sure if she is really hitting all them notes THAT flawlessly when on the other performance below of “Make It Happen”, her voice sounds like she is swallowing pebbles while trying to get some of those upper notes out *SEOD*. There are a few flat notes here and there…but, you know, it’s probably cold outside.
It’s so confusing trying to figure out what is going on with Mariah’s voice these days. Sometimes singing live with her mixed tracks and straight up lipsyncing and background singers covering some notes (like on “Make It Happen”) (Trey Lorenz still getting that money!), you just never know what you are getting these days.
But old Mariah vs. new Mariah live and in living color — what say ya’ll? She also performed “Obsessed” but NOT EVEN GONNA POST IT.

I don’t know why Mariah’s vocals are being called okay now a days. She really needs to channel that 91 Mariah she been walking around looking like when nobody was questioning them vocals of hers.

It’s all relative I think LOL!

This proves to me, unequi(vocally), that her voice is damaged.
She’s flat, her voice is wavering, and she can’t hit any notes beyond a certain point. It’s like the muscles in her throat have atrophied, and she can’t control them like she used to.
I’ll continue to purchase any tracks from this woman that I find interesting, but I’ll make my purchases knowing full well that:
1) There was some hellified wizardry goin’ on during the recording sessions, and
2) I’ll be damned if I EVER spend a dime to see her ass attempt to perform ANYTHING live.
In her own words, “It’s A Wrap.”

The problem with Mariah is that she started losing older fans when she started focusing more on her sex appeal and less on her vocals. Her fans from the 90s era expect better from her vocally. She’s trying to stay “hip” to the teeny bopper crowd so her newer, younger fans don’t know any better. I KNOW Mariah has sounded better than this, and we all know her voice is shot to hell. It’s sad actually. I love 90s/early early 2000s Mariah. And I’ll throw in the Emancipation of Mimi album since it was good but still not where she used to be vocally.
