Anthony Hamilton is still working off of his last record, The Point of It All, and on The Mo’Nique Show this week he delivers a strong vocal performance.
You know, hands down Anthony has a great voice, and it has its own definitive sound. You hear it and you know it’s him singing — however, he’s suffered from a continuing decline of strong material ever since his debut in my opinion. This last album of his was largely liked by critics and the most die-hard of fans, but overall I thought it was a miscalculation especially with the first single of “Cool” with David Banner. It was just a head scratching moment.
I hope his next album takes on a classic sound and lays the foundation for a continued presence for Anthony — his is a voice I wouldn’t mind hearing from 5-10 years from now. Where are this generation’s classic songwriters? Half of the songs we hear on the radio we won’t be singing 5-10 years from now…hardly even 5-10 weeks later in some cases!
Check out how homeboy has everyone feeling tho by the end of this song — that’s a classic performance right there. Soul music’ll do that to ya….
