    • Live Performance: Angie Stone Does “I Ain’t Hearin’ U”, But Are U Listening?

Written by The IPS in Blogs on Dec 21, 09

Angie Stone tried her hardest to get folks crunk with this performance, but in the end she was saved by Mo’Nique’s use of the Electric Slide. How dreadful. LOL!

Angie Stone is a favorite of mine and I root for her constantly, but she’s made some interesting fashion choices this album cycle and this outfit is no different. As far as the music, BET’s jank sound mixed with the lack of “oomph” this song has and this performance was just so bland. Even her voice was a little iffy sounding at times, and I haven’t seen many performances on the promo trail of this album live.

It’s like, I want to shake her and be like “COME ON GET IT TOGETHER!” It’s not a bad song, but Angie usually delivers stronger, more impactful material. “I Ain’t Hearin’ U” is a nice little ditty, but it comes across as stale live. On the record, the track is the only thing that saves the song as well — take that out of the mix in the live setting and you are left with something you may or may not change the channel on.

Was she wearing a cape? Something seemed amateurish about this performance. The song is blah and that outfit looks like something on clearance in the Matrix.

@Nickey “that outfit looks like something on clearance in the Matrix.”

OK, please have me creamated wearing nothing but fine linens! ROFL!!!!!

@ The IPS “fine lines” lmao! Just wrap me in a clean sheet!

You know what? She doesn’t have the swagger to rock these outfits. I’ve seen older women pull it off, but mostly because they have a younger disposition.

Angie is wearing young, tight clothing, but her demeanor is that of a grandma.

I don’t wanna hear or SEE her *ss during this phase of her career. Time to work on that jazz standards album and lose a few more pounds, Ms. Stone. Either that, or cover up and make more mature R&B music.

She needs to start listening to US!!!

Angie thinks that she’s still with “Voodoo-era” D’Angelo and she really lost 50 lbs. on Celebrity Fit Club. And why were her ta-tas almost in her mouth???

      6. December 23, 2009 SororSalsa

I happen to really like the track, but this song irritates me because it’s the “Ladies Denial Anthem 2009″. I have to wonder whose girlfriend/wife/fiancee/baby mama Angie is asking not to call her house looking for her man.

Love this Angie track… Is that Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child playing in the band at :55 lol
